The exchange rate is only relevant if your salaries are comparable in both countries. My income halved when I came back to NZ, so in real terms for me gbp 16k would be about nzd 25k.Still alot of money though !

The wife's Focus was in that bracket and we've had a couple of problems with it but they gave us a 6 month warranty and they have all been fixed under that.I wouldnt say the cars are all 'rejects' in that proce bracket but the cars are all pretty basic and tend to be Jap cars they have brought over themselves.

If they offer paypal, use it. I would have no hesitation buying off ebay as long as ou have the paypal protection. Its saved me twice by getting my money back on dodgy items.

I dont mean to put a damper on things, but since when have auctioned cars gone for the guide price? Especially newer cars like this that are regularly getting double that price on TM etc ?You want to see what they are selling for, not what they are starting at. [edit] but I agree, going from a new car to a much older one is not always easy.
