  1. A pair of Bilstein Sport front struts  came off  1997 e36 316 with 176k use.

    6154009H000 & 61740010H000

They have no oil leaks and had a good reboun before being removed.

Was on my wife's vehicle, rescued them off the car before it was scrapped after the second engine overheated.

Don't know what price these fetch these days but recently bought a new set of H&R for our e30 $1200.

    $400

  2. Added pics of our e30/m50 which was sold  last year.

Yeah, heeded a car dealers advice of trimming inside etc. he offered $5k as was. (It was in race trim, as it  just had it's first and last race meeting on a winning note.) Thought, mmm nah I can do that, added the trim, as in 7th pic. Took it back to the dealer saying I wanted $10k out of any deal he could broker, he was hesitant, but rang me on my way home to come back pronto, he had a buyer. The prospective owner had seen the car at the track and also saw it drive into the dealers yard and wanted to purchase it. But when he saw it 'trimmed' asked if it could be returned to race trim, which I willingly did...hence my ongoing dilemma and not spending time and money without some certainity of a reward.

With the race series cars it is all about what cars are proven high performers.

I got good money for my series car but only because I put it near the front.  Otherwise there were far better presented E30's out there going for much less.

Yeah, was it the horse or was it the rider.

Looked/contemplated at some of those Series cars and couldn't see the merit in any so bought a caged car albeit unregistered and went from there.

Thanks for the details. With that engine and brakes it’s not eligible for the BMW Race Series E30 Class, but it can enter the 2.0ltr Championship which is very popular, more cars than E30s at some meetings. Being suitable for a popular class helps with demand, no point having a race car with nobody to race against.

Would it be worth more if you got it re-registered, possibly but not more than the costs of the rego process I would suggest.

In normal circumstances I would have said  $8k asking was a good price, comparing with the other E30 race cars for sale. However with Covid it’s all a whole new world, so who knows..?

Does an affordable 'motorsport car' have merit in the scheme of things?

Especially when it is relatively low cost to run, maintain, can be driven to events, compete and driven home again.

It needn't just sit on a trailer when not at the track but could double up as a second car to visit the shops, go to work etc.

For my money the the BMW Race Series does come at a greater cost than doing local events where there are under 2 Litre categories for hillclimbs, Bent Sprints, Manfeild R&T, Surgery Intermarque or the class time bands at Manawatu Car Club Summer/Winter Series etc which this car has been doing.= 23 odd events for a year's motorsport spend <$3000 pays for a lot of smiles when on the way home.

Pricing of race cars is notoriously difficult, they usually have very high levels of $$$ and effort put into them but get little to no return on that.

A couple of questions about your car, does it have the 318iS M42/M44 motor in it? Is the cage MSNZ homologated with log book etc?

This would help estimate the value more accurately!

    It has an m44 engine/20gearbox/RHD lightweight flywheel/stage2clutch/rebalanced drive shaft/4.27diff.

    Suspension upgraded/bbs wheels toyo 888 205 50 15 tyres

e30/rx7 4-pot grooved rotors and new blue hawk pads

has homolgated cage & log book

    race seat and current r/belt

    gauges/shift light

would need re-reg/cert/ most things there for wof

    has surge tank

  6. My dilemma:

1.What is the worth of this vehicle as a race car?

2.What would this be worth as a road going track car?

3.What would it's worth be if it was half-caged, trimmed and road registered?

Interested in anyone giving opinions and advice on the above spec; and even checking it out in the 'For Sale Forum' for more detail.

NB I had a e30/m50 as in pics and in #3 livery

  7. I probably have one set of brackets left, (the prospective buyer is swaying, I think, towards one of the rotor/caliper/bracket/brake hose adaptor kit combo's that I have for sale).

I had to get x10 made locally to get them done economically.

$120 inclusive of couriering for 2x brackets.

Also have a pair of new rotors machined for e30/RX7 left here too .

And when I can find where I left them, some brake adaptors which I have found hard to get hold of.

  8. e36Ti rear suspension set-up suitable for e30 4 to 5 stud conversion.

Comes with front rotors, calipers and hubs too.

Was destined for a e30 spares sedan  resto  but two race-car bumps have taken all the doors and so its destiny is getting grimmer by the day.

Need to do your research, as there are various ways one can do the conversion...

    $350.

  9. Where we are at in week 2:

1.Thanks to Blackie for giving information about what he did to overcome an EWS 3 problem from an engine swap: he had a trademe trader offering a 'flashing' remedy to delete $100 or he could have had the same trader doing a manual delete for $150. I didn't find that trader & Blackie has yet to come back with a contact, if he is able.

    2. A bigTHANK-YOU to Brent, from BMWWorld, for validating the notion of using the m42 loom and ecu. We are doing that now. So far only issue has been getting the individual coil cluster. Luckily after a day or two, dah,I remembered I had a spare set from an e30 m42 engine that I bought from a ChCH Bimmersporter several years ago, to have as a spare for my e30 318is.(He was slotting in an e36 2.8. I wonder whether he ever regretted doing that.) I had a plan to put it in an e30 sedan roller, unfortunately my e30 318is race car took a big hit on the left side and needed those doors and a few weeks ago the right side took an even bigger hit now will be a recipient of the remaining doors! Sad because the shell is/was rust free. I digress, I am hoping in week 3 to have the m44 engine running.

  10. M44 in e30 race car has DME 0 261 203 667 with EWS 3 D module,antenna, key chip all linked and manual won't start

Diagnostics have power all over aprt from an error code 148 from DME. Thinking DME issue/stopping starting.

Is there another ECU/DME 88pin out there that would work that doesn't have EWS as I don't need that facility?

  11. The trifecta has 2002 e46Ti Compacts more or less.

    1. The manual has been well tended by previous 3 private owners.

Has clocked 231,000kms, probably a few more more now, has been used to cart the golf gear about by 'the His's' in the family.

Rego on hold, wof to be done next week.

Originally bought to transplant an m54 engine, sold that.

Have 6 vehicles to down-size to, leaving the 8 selected keepers in our shedding.

Car is as you see in the pictues below...

If buying this one only $2600 with wof & some rego

    2. 'Hers' is an automatic one done 189odd k. Will put up more details .. through the week with pictures ...

If buying this one alone $1800with wof & some rego

    3. Parts car for the above. Engine has gone. Had been sold, buyer came to remove the steering rack but only partially did so then abandoned it.

For all 3x, of the trifecta, $4k cash

Do you know what the Centre bore is. I'd be quite keen on them for my e39

Yes, Inner bore is 72mm. The lip outer is 77mm.

    The wheel centre is 55mm.

I have had them on our m3 (also had e39 basket weaves on too.)

I think I paid $800 for some fully refurbished ones.  But 17x9 and 17x8.

I've never actually used them.  I am hoping they are in boxes somewhere in one of my containers.  Though I can't recall seeing them strangely.

When I was looking on eBay for the RD wheel centre, about 2 years ago now, there were two sets seeking US$2k to buy.
