  1. Hi guys, 1)Has anyone removed both cats on an E36 328i? I want to pull off both cats and replace them with some resonators. Not sure if I should also do the rear muffler at the same time or leave it. Would it be too loud to fit a test pipe instead of a reso? I want to keep the sound legal and get a little more roar at WOT. 2) Angel eyes. Are they brighter than stock? I know they are white but is the intensity of the beam stronger? I do a lot of night driving from Tauranga/Rotorua to Hamilton and backwards so going up/down the Kaimais in bugger all light would be unsafe. 3) Where do I find strut and sway bars in NZ? Thanks
  2. is that city/highway or combined? I got 500kms to a 3/4 tank and its a 2.8L! (it was combined 264Km hway and 236urban)
  3. Nice. I picked up the mags from Mosen Euro off K Drive. I'm pretty sure I'll go with H&R springs and Bilstein shocks. Total cost should be around $1600 fitted and aligned. I'll get the from FBI performace off K Drive. where's O'Reagon Rd?
  4. I got my wheels fixed in Cambridge. Wheel and Frame. Speak to John. 0-7-827 6688 Does heaps of wheels. Not cheap but very good. I guess you get what you pay for. Word of mouth from the guys at Mosen Euro (BMW dismantlers in Hamilton).
  5. I got 225/40 all round so I could rotate the tires. I need to get the rear guards rolled as it just rubs. the driver's side springs have sagged a little bit and it doesn't really inspire that much confidence during bumpy roads as I can hear the tire bumping into the panelwork.
  6. ouch that's gotta suck. But the rain is crazy. God I hate winter.
  7. Nice.:thumb: I'd like to know how you got your photos to look like that?
  8. Thanks. Thinking of getting H&R springs with Bilstein shocks. about $1500. Maybe in a while as the stock ones are still pretty good.
  9. I managed to get the Toyo CT01's for a great price. some tramlining but not very bad. my cornering speeds have increased
  10. Sweet. What tires did ya get? I'm looking at either the dunlop direzza DZ101, Dunlop SP Sport Maxx or the Toyo Proxes 4 and T1R. Any tramlining? Cheers
  11. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The missus backed the car out of the garaged and clipped with left wing mirror against the fence. Paint has been stripped till the undercoat. Looks like it will require a repaint and filler for the large gouge marks. Payback better be good tonight.
  12. Yeah. sounds pretty good but I'd like more punch and clarity to the sound. I had a very good setup in the Accord and I want to get similar if not better performance (musically). I'll not change the rear speakers but will amp the fronts (with a view to getting aftermarket MB QUART speakers) and getting a solid 10" or 12" sub. Has anyone run 18" tyres on the E36? What has their wet driving been like? I'm thinking of either 225/40 or 235/40 for the rears. Are they too wide for wet driving? I imagine that the tyres will also make a difference so I'll probably get Toyos T1R or the Dunlop Direzzas D101 or the Goodyear F1 GSD3. Any thoughts? After that, I'll get my Remus exhaust and angeleyes then save again for the H&R and Bilsteins
  13. Managed to score some fantastic 18" BBS mags. They are at the panel beaters getting a decent workover as they are pretty badly curbed. Now i'm on the lookout for good 18" tires. Pics as promised. No exterior shots yet.. lemme get the mags sorted first
  14. Absolutely fantastic speakers. Model no is 325.03 CX
  15. Yep, still got it..Its on trademe at the moment Cheers.
  16. I'll get back to you on that one ok. They are sitting in a warehouse in AKL.
  17. One of the very last. Speakers are brand new in box. 5", 2" mid and tweeter with crossovers. Fantastic sound and will fit beautifully with the E36 that come with 5.25" speakers in the kickpanels. Used to retail at over $1000 a set. 6 sets have fallen in my lap. Pictures to follow Asking for $700 firm per set. Cheers.
  18. Got a Dynatron with a transponder thingy instead of an AVS alarm. Sucks that I can't use an aftermarket gearknob without too much hassle :banghead: Got rid of the headunit and installed an Alpine CDA-9847. Looks pretty good without messing up the dashboard. Good deal from Madsoundz Hamilton. $444 installed; got them to match Parallel imported's price Needs a sub and some amplifiers and then I'll be pumping Has anyone done an intake plenum swap using the intake plenum from the M50? Apparently gains of up to 220hp at the crank are acheivable with some loss of mid-range torque. Any ideas?
  19. http://www.faqs.org/faqs/autos/gasoline-fa.../section-1.html I think the US of A have 91 as their 'premium' fuel.. like we have 98 as premium. The standard fuel has 87octane there. Japan is 100 octane as standard AFAIK. Higher octane allows the engine to advance the timing much further before pre-ignition. Some engines obviously benefit from this. I'm not sure if your V8 will
  20. G'day, My Jap import came with an English Manual courtesy of the car dealer. Try them at www.carspot.co.nz
  21. I've been hooning managed to run away from work early today and decided to hoon around some of the quieter roads near Hamz. I guess I'm not comparing apples with apples but the BMW eats my Accord. There's not much of power after 5500rpm but there's no need to go there. My Accord use to redline at 7500rpm and be rev-limited at 8000rpm. But there was bugger all torque till about 4000rpm. I love cruising at 100km/h with the engine just over 2000rpm. No more downshifting to 2nd to overtake. Just put your foot down. I do miss the Vtec induction noise and the mad torque steer tho. My CD changer doesn't work but I'm probably going to rip out the entire system and replace with a set of 3ways in front and a 10" sub. So the current mods planned are: 1) Angeleyes 2) CAI & Exhaust 3) Sounds 4) Mags and tyres. 5) Suspension - its current dynamic status is actually very very very good. hardly any bumps can be felt yet fantastic road-holding. Its too bad we can't legally install HID kits cos despite having very good driving lights, I reckon that HID lights are amazing for night driving especially in NZ. I guess I'll be saving for my E90 then
  22. ^ Hey do you know of any aftermarket gearknobs that look slightly better than the L shaped BMW gearknob?
  23. Beautiful condition, definitely a chick talking point. Comes with allen key and rubber boots to install. Works with all manual knobs and some automatic ones (J-gate style) $70
