  1. 1) 91 Proton Saga 1.3 Manual - Reliable POS. Gave it to mum when I came over the NZ 2) 88 Honda Civic 1.5 Dual Carb Hatch - Reliable and incredible fuel economy. I managed 5.1L/100km No A/C, no electrics - My wife wrote her off 3) 97 Honda Accord SIR 2.0 - Great car. Very revvy, dropped on teins, Pod filter, decatted and exhaust done. 4) 96 BMW 328i - H&R springs, Bilsteins, CAI, decatted, some cosmetic mods. Also driven wife's cars 1) 91 Honda Integra DA8 2) 99 Mazda Famillia SP20 - what a hoot to drive. It had an RPS exhaust which was too loud so I fitted a turboflow muffler at Pitstop. Still sounds mean but no drone. Very quick until about 90km/h then it loses out at the top. Handles pretty sweetly too. I'll probably pick up a 2nd hand e90 335i (not E92), once they start appearing and upgrade the Mazda to the SP23.
  2. Hey thanks for the link. The guys in Oz got back to me. SK+ kit A$8153 not including freight to NZ 0.3bar and 175kw (crank) + 1.5 days installation Stage 1 Kit A$11499 0.4bar 213kw(crank) 3~4 days installation. Stage 2 & 3 needs a manual conversion. Time to scratch my head first and see if I should invest that sorta money into a decent M3 evo instead.
  3. the guys at speed factor gave me a card to give to the WOF guys that said that my brake lines didn't have to be certed. Apparently, Goodridge are the only ones that are allowed this. Cheers.
  4. Also, before I forget, Motor magazine Jan 07 issue had a small tire test. Rated 1) Bridgestone RE050A - OEM on the new VE commodores A$450 each 2) Yokohama Advan sport A$440 each 3) Falken FK452 A$320 each 4) Dunlop Sportmax A$579 each 5) Pirelli P Zero Rosso A$670 each 6) Federal Super Steel 595 A$320 each Prices were for 245/45/18. The Pirellis are eye-wateringly expensive. Driver was Steve Pizzati.
  5. I've been looking for a new way to increase power and I think going down the NA path will get expensive to get big numbers. does anyone here have any experience with a supercharger? Especially this one > Infinitas. Manufacturers website I was thinking of also going down the turbo route but I'd like to keep the power delivery linear. Cheers.
  6. I had the Proxes 4 on my Honda Accord and the grip was pretty impressive in the wet. Wear wasn't that much of an issue. I still have 4.5mm left after 18K kms. The accord was running -1.5 camber front and -1.3 camber rear. Cheers.
  7. They were already on. I got them done on Wednesday at Speedfactor Tauranga. They feel pretty much stock until about 50%. Then the feel is very linear after that. U need to upgrade Yuen
  8. I can't be bothered with adjusties. I'm not that competitive and track the car for fun. Its already had a suspension makeover (bilsteins and H&R springs) and I may get stiffer anti-roll bars (I believe Whiteline do an E36 set) and an X-brace from the US. Winter series? Sounds tempting.
  9. Its taken me a while but I've finally done the lot. Hawk HP+ pads front Bendex back Motul RBF 600 fluid Goodridge braided brake lines. The fronts squeal like a virgin around town once warmed up. Don't really notice it with the radio and windows up. Braking performance. My original pads were 75% gone so it was sorta a good time to get them changed. Going up and down the Kaimai's is a different experience. I can definitely brake a lot later and there is much better feel; I can brake hard right until the point before ABS kicks in. I think my stopping distance has shortened.. probably because I'm more confident of standing on the brakes. But the biggest improvement has to be the pedal feel. The original rubber hoses were 11years old but were still in reasonable condition. It was a good excuse anyway The new pads dust like mad. Meh.. I have a water blaster so its all good
  10. Depends on how you drive and what you want out of them. I guess for NZ roads, wet grip is paramount. Noise can be an issue but the coarse seal roads that we have doesn't really help. My preference would be 1) Wet traction - especially in standing water. 2) Braking ability (wet and dry) 3) Noise 4) Wear Good luck.
  11. Seriously, I drive fairly hard but I get about 40K to 50K kms from a set of tires. Mines even been to the track. Never ever heard of tires lasting more than 60Kkms.
  12. I've never heard of tires lasting till 75K kms unless you drive like a nana. Between the Toyo proxes 4 and the Toyo Proxes CT01, I prefered the Proxes 4. Slightly noisier but awesome in the wet. The CT01's are quieter and are slightly better on the track but feel 'loose' in the wet above 100km/h.
  13. From the BMW manual 328i manual 0-100 = 7.2 328i auto 0-100 = 7.8 Not a sub 7 car
  14. But that's not his question. Which is better? The one with the bigger engine Not the one with the smaller engine with shiny wheels
  15. 328i More economical strangely because you're not revving its nuts off to get it to move. If you decide to derestrict the engine by opening up the intake manifold and changing the exhaust, there's gains to be made
  16. Yuen, keen on the lip and maybe the M3 mirrors. Is the leather interior in good nick? Colour please. How were you going to do the HID retrofit? Cheers.
  17. I saw your car pulled up by the side. Saw the sticker and then thought bugger. Nice car BTW. Just make sure the insurance doesn't write it off.
  18. Sounds real sweet when you open up the taps. More of an induction roar. Great for $175
  19. Sorry to hear about your loss. Here's what I'd do. Go to the media. That's called being heartless. He could have at least offered to escort you to hospital with lights and sirens. I believe he also had to exceed the speed limit to catch you and I believe they are only allowed to exceed the limit if it is a matter of priority. Catching someone speeding isn't. Re write your letter and forward it to the police complaints authority and Campbell Live or CloseUp. Good luck. And the new Stalker instant on will usually get you.
  20. Bigger engine will always have more torque, which is important if you're not into revving the engine to get 170hp. difference in economy between 2.2L and 2.5L engines shouldn't be huge and the bigger engine could even be more economical on long distance drives. Seems like you like the 320i, so good luck with the inspection. Hope it comes out ok.
  21. Looks like this but black (unpainted). It fits the E36 sedan so yeah I think it should fit the coupe as well.
  22. Ha. you're in luck. I have an E39 bootlid spoiler (M-sport) style. I was going to paint it and attach it to the car but can't be asked right now. I'm also in Hamz so if you wanna come by to have a look, PM me. Cheers.
  23. I'd buy things that I can port over to the new car if that's the case. Wheels and intake shouldn't be a problem. Don't know about the diff tho.
  24. Save your money and buy a 328i BUt if you want a poddie, there is a Carbon fibre simota intake for $175 from Autopassion Chch.
