I am beginning to come to my senses and ditch my (lack of) suspension ways. Basicly I want to get another E30 but a 325 manual coupe this time and spend money in the right places so I can take it round the track etc. So what I was thinking of doing was stripping the interior of all things I wont need..sound deadening, rear seats etc etc, getting decent suspension of some sort(will figure it out when I get there) and do some minor engine work. What I wanted to know is,will I run into WOF problems etc if I strip the car and (later on) put a half cage in the back. This isn't a waste of time thread I am seriously looking into it and have been saving for a long arse time. Anything else anybody can recommend/suggest? Cheers Ashkan

E.39 5 series - ABS problems - HELP PLEASE!!!!
Nobimmer replied to piriaka's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Sorry to Hijack the thread but on my way back from Napier (to AKL) and the ABS light and the traction control(?) light cam one.Pulled over because it was pissing down with rain and I thought my brakes had sh!t themselves and it was still sweet to drive so I carried on.Then about 5 mins later the speedo stopped working then the fuel economy gauge stopped. Is there a problem with driving around with it or is it likely to break more shiz!?Or is it just an annoying light? Cheers Ashkan ps.Car is an e39 520i -
Magwarehouse in Takapuna do them for $35 a gaurd. Theres a badass E30 caged out drifter there at the moment with x9's on and they've flared the f**k out of the rears with just the gaurd rolling machine.Nick's really onto it. Try them

If you're going to say silly in that sentence,Chris, I think it should be spelt sthilly?

I dont really see any difference

had 215/35's on my 18s and popped tyres every 2 weeks with the crap suspension I had.they were stretched a bit and were Toyo Proxies. I will listen to what people tell me as Johnno clearly stated not to use them as I would run into problems. And I did.Listen to him. He's a genious.

^^2 steps ahead of you lol that was the first thing I did. Luckily it was just fuse number 24 that had popped.Replaced that and was sweet as. Had no idea at all and would have NEVER found the fuse box in the glove box. Cheers for the help Ashkan

Yes I managed to figure that out when I found a house-like circuit board in the boot! I just figured wiring in radar detector wouldn't be much harder. Who knows till I open the fuse box really...Hopefully just blowen the fuse.*prays*

Lol n00b.Didn't even know there was a fuse box there! Will check it when I get home.Checked to see and there was a random 3 pin plug with a thick red, brown and purple (i think) wire going into it and it wasn't plugged into anything. Should this be plugged into something? It sits near the steering column to the right.I will take a pic when theres more light.Or are all E39 looms similar and it's for something else. Cheers for the help fullas

Today I hardwired my new radar detector in as Jochen explained to me,but I just spliced into a random purple/yellow striped wire under the steering column for the ACC power and grounded it on a nut somewhere. Only problem now is that my speedo, tacho, fuel and temp gauges, indicator green lights etc no longer work !? The lights etc on the dash all work (eg handbrake,Oil etc) but the gauges dont go anymore. I checked the fuses in the boot and (I guess) being a lowish spec 520i it only had like 5 fuses in there . I checked the wire that I spliced into and followed it up as far as I could see and it was all connected and also MM'd it and there was still power...I dont even know if that wire goes to the dash or what. Is there anything else I should be looking for or may I have accidently pulled the gauge wire out whilst doing this? Any help would be much appreciated

any particular fuse you recomend tapping into?ie the number? Otherwise it'll be more multimeter loving -
