    318iS Bits

hey be keen for the pipe from the AFM to the engine the one with the oval inlet? if i had the money i would probably take the hole motor off your hands as would be nice to have a spare as mines creeping over 200k now.

    Pod filter ...

i put a pod filter in mine, e36 318is,manual just got it sticking straight out of the AFM bought the adapter for it and all, noticed a small increase in power makes a nice sound to made a bracket to hold the AFM steady that bolts on to the strut tower, would like to get some piping to bend it further down away from the heat thoe, just having trouble finding 3 inch piping. no idle problems she occasionally misses but i think thats an unrelated problem, dont know maybe shes sucking to much heat in and causing her to miss?.
  4. yup i definetly got the 6 inch speakers to fit in the back, didnt have to modify anything, they had 5.25s in there originaly and after taking them out and putting them next to the 6 inch speakers didnt think they would fit, but i tried anyway and they just bolted up nice and easyily.
  5. Well booked in to Hutt City europeans to get the clutch repaired next wensday, $871.00 i rang around and yeah they seem to be the cheapest, if i had the tools i would do the clutch my self and maybe give that lighter flywheel a go, but as i dont have the tools and asking a mechanic that i havent met yet to give it a go aint going to work out in my favour, so in she goes, only one more to week till i can get back on to the road. ive done a bit of research on this lighter M20 flywheel, the only down points i can find is that its alot noisey, and i think you lose your Air conditioning im not to sure on that one thoe. oneday, ill shove a lighter one in oneday, just not now

ok no luck had a look on the front kit, cant seem to find any latch that will open up to allow me to stick a Tow hook in or anywhere a tow hook would be hiding, some one must of towed one of these before, bmw surely cant of made there cars thinking they would never break and need to be towed the old fashioned way. please help

    Car surging

yeah ive also been told good things about the above shop ^^ another one i havent heard anything about yet but will probably be sending my clutch into get fixed there is hutt city europeans, right accross the road from Ava Train Station. now about your surging problem, check your vacum lines after your air flow meter, i had the same problem drove round for ages, then found a dirty big hole in the pipe between the airflow meter and engine, havent replaced the pipe yet as it was gonna cost 70 bucks so just did a dirty duct tape trick and it seems to be working just fine.

    tow hook??

hey this might be a stupid question and feel a bit stupid asking, but when your towing a bmw such as my e36 318is where do you hook the tow rope up to, the reason i asked is i screwed my clutch and had to tow it home, i couldnt see a good spot to tie the rope to so i used a chassi strut just under the gear box ( it bent) so anyway i have to tow it to the mechanic soon and just wondering the best place to tow from.
  13. its a m42 engine, thought you guys would of known your stuff i need to buy a hole new flywheel so grinding the one i have wont really be an option, its just that the fly wheels so god damn expensive and using a lighter one will be cheaper and some what help the preformance.
  14. i have a coupe and managed to fit 6" inch speakers in the factory holes, the fit in there fine and sound all good
  15. ok, so here it goes, i just blew my clutch a few days ago, alot of smoke, quite a funny sight, but anyway i wasnt to worried thought hey cant cost that much to fix the clutch, ive done a clutch my self in one of my earlyer jappas, anyway i rang up hutt city europeans, they quoted me $300 + gst for the labour then said he would call me back with a price on a clutch kit, apparently a good deal, half an hour later he calls me back with $475+gst for the clutch, due to the dualmass flywheel, so thats about 800 bucks all up, has anyone done the mod of sticking a single flywheel in there? such as this write up http://www.blackforestindustries.com/m20flywheel.htm ive been trying to find a cheaper way to do this clutch as i dont have 800 on me so will be driving around a mazda 626 till its fixed, slow and embarissing to drive, anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.
  16. no distributor on these, has a heat coil instead with the firing order run off the computer, or somthing like that, so im hoping it aint somthing in the computer, spark plugs got changed about a month back and did help the problem a little bit, but it still misses
  17. ok cheers, if its not the spark plug leads what other problems can cause it to miss?, ive just blown my clutch so its not my high priority at the moment but i can try a few things while its sitting there, as itll be a few weeks till i fix the clutch
  18. Does anyone no where to get some spark plug leads for a 94 318IS M42 engine, ive been into BNT they orderd 3 different sets which were all to short, then told me that they dont know what to do, repco can get them in for 500(specialised ones) i dont want to be going through the bmw dealer as theyll charge me more then i really want to spend. any help would be greatly appreciatred, im not even to sure its my spark plug leads which is why i dont want to spend to much, she misses occasionally, i cant see any visible cracks on the leads ive changed the plugs, fixed a hole in the airflow meter pipe, cleaned out the ICV, run some injenction cleaner through, so this is next. anyone no how to test the spark plug leads?
  19. Try PIONEER insurance, aside from the national auto club there the only ones that would insure me due to alot of driving offences, anyway i was 21 at the time , coverd for 10k pay $94.00 a month $600 excess, and am now about to ring them and give them a list of my mods, hope my premiums dont go up!
