    e36 parts

hey, im after the piping from the air flow meter to the manifold, the bit with the oval outlet, think youd be able to part that off seprtly? the duct tape aint holding up to well in my car lol
  3. yep to much crapness the car couldnt handle, ha ha nah check all your wiring, the sub unit its self requires an eletrical signal to make that doof doof noise, that signal comes from your head unit, sent to your amp, which is getting power from the battery to send to the subs at a greater force, so id say look at your cable from your head unit to your amp (RCA cable), check it over completely, like inch by inch for cracks in the wiring or any defects, then look at your amp wiring, if you dont have any luck, swap head units, see if that works, easyist way to do that is just run the rca cable into someone elses car nearby, and if that dont bring any luck and you still cant find a fault in the wiring, i would have to blame the amp.
  4. ha ha some pretty funky sh*t, a few wernt to bad, but the ute was cool, sorry if you dont agree but once ive finished my e36 i wanna do this : i know ill get sh*t for that but ohwell
  5. lol did that once to, reached through to punch the button to reset the Ks back to zero, didnt almost crash but did turn the wheel and hurt my arm quite a bit lol, learnt my lesson with that one
  6. go to caraudioaustralia.com has good write ups to do that sort of thing, basically youll be hacking your door cards creating pods fibre glassing them in and recovering it all in vynal, im doing this next year with some fancy lights included in there aswell, all when time and money permits, its pretty straight foward if your willing to get messy, and have a good DIY can do attitude, or go pay someone $800 up to do them.
  7. second that, its driving me nuts, have to try get everything done in the the one day of sunshine we seem to be having a week, my girlfriends crapped out valiant is in the garage, ive given her till jan to have it running (complete engine rebulid) i did suggest a V8 that i would help pay for, but she wants it original
  8. i had to drive one of them when my bema was in the shop, it was a fiat uno, ive driven some pretty shitty cars in my time, but never was i so horrified to drive this, worst car ever.
  9. yeah, this is pretty common, but afriad i have never heard of a common fix, best thing i can suggest and what i did was to face the subs toward the driver, well in a ported setup this works anyway, so theres not as much rattle in the boot but rather its deirected foward when the seats are dropped down, boot wasnt realy designed to have a big doof doof sub in it to my disgust.
  10. lol thats some funny sh*t, suprised trademe didnt take it down, wish id thought about that before i threw out my ex's pics, my current g/f found em and made me
  11. also i think most of us here would rather spend i nice day at home working on the car, i find it fun, gives me somthing to do, i learn about my car and save me money aswell, i dont see the day wasted, and by the way not a student, do have the money but prefer to do the work my self
  12. also the same in manuals, when i first bought my car i would change gear and put my foot on the gas only to hit the brake with a good thud aswell, ive gotten used to it now, but it was a bit of a change from the jappas id previously been driving.
  13. yeah but you dont have to pay the stupid prices that bmw has to offer, in the bently manual it has all things that have to be checked while doing inspection 1 & 2, so why not build up your tool collection and start doing it your self, i paid for a service once when i bought the car, wont be doing that again, i do it all my self, when time permits, good for learning how your car works to.
  14. just use anything, ive used it on my e36, i used one piece of thick speaker wire, just strip off the ends and hold one into pin 7 and one to a suitable ground, piece of piss, no blown fuses no adverse side effects that ive heard of or seen in my car.
  15. or you can use that: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/electrica...ice_lights.html i use it and it doesnt seem to cause any issues.
  16. cheers, its only a 17inch tyre and mag so it wouldve fit, ill see how ThreeOneEight gets on see if that can be organised to suit PM'd
  17. anyone on there way from or heading to auckland in a few days that could pick up a 17inch rim and tyre? and bring it back to wellington?, apparently through pace couriours will cost 63 to send, any cheaper alternatives? Cheers,
  18. firewalls wont neccasarily protect you, specially the well known ones as i have expermented with alot of them and found alot of viruses are programed to disable the firewall once there in your computer, but they have to know your firewall, such as the genric ones, zone alarms meant to be one of the best but i found viruses targeted it, i now use sygate and have found that to be the best firewall i have found, and ive tried quite a few, its easy to use and doesnt seem to get taken down by nasty viruses
  19. yeah i agree, waste of time and space, a virus is a pretty simple program to get rid of, i just use a good fire wall now, i know all the programs running on my computer so will know if ones not meant to be there, all my documents are stored on a seperate drive to so not to worried if i have to reinstall the system.

    Fuse, definetly a fuse.
  21. i costantly sit at about 110, everywhere i drive on the motor way, i see it as the speedlimit havent been pulled over in a year, well once cuz i hooned up to the back of a cop for fun then he pulled in and let me pass so he could pull me over, couldnt do me for anything thoe. most of my demerit points were from younger years when i couldnt be assed sitting my restricted and stayed on my learners for 5 years, each time i got pulled over 25 demerit points, never stopped me driving thoe, but im paying for that now, $50 a week for the next few years lol.
  22. theyll send it to court after i think 2 months, or maybe a month, when it goes to court your demirit points will be added, i think its 25 demerits, im speaking from experience lost mine twice due to demerits. getin done for 111k sucks, you dont get in trouble for 109, theres a 9k allowance.
  23. do them yourslef , theres plenty of write ups all over the place on replacing brake pads and rotors, i take it you drove your brake pads to the ground ignoring the brake pad wear sensor light?, you can pick up some good brake pads for 100 a pair from most car shops, 40 a pair if you want to go cheap but i wouldnt recommend them, as for rotors seems like the perfect time to upgrade to slotted bigger rotors not sure on price for them anyway heres a full write up: http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/e36brakesystem edit: brake pad sensor should work with all brakes that are designed for e36, youll probably need 2 buy some of them as well as they are not reusable uless you wanted to get rid of it all together
  24. lol thats gay, i was bored so went to sign up to the site now gotta wait for an adminstator to confirm it, how gay, geuss he wont be that famous after all no one will see it lol
