  1. yeah you can ground that anywhere you like aslong as its touching baremetal and has a solid ground. i dont know the ignition system of an e30 very well but i know most of the guys on here do, well they should have manuals and what not most of them own e30s, you just need a wiring diagram of the ignition system to find the coulors then folow the sames steps as the e36. ill have a look online see if i can find a wiring diagram for the e30.
  2. well no, i think its cars manufactured after 95 that have EWS, but the key doesnt have to be in the ignition for the chip in the key to be recognised just close to the sensor such as tape it to the underside of the steering colunm, im not actually to sure where the sensor is. i wouldnt recommend doing a completely keyless start, your removing every security measure that stops theft, i have a push button start in my car but wont go completely keyless. i would recomend buying a new ignition barrel.
  3. http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/e36startbutton - for the ignition button , and youll have to get rid of the steering lock also shown down the bottom, this is all for an e36 so sorry if yours is not. First take off the panels under the steering column. Look up at the ignition and you will see a bunch of wires coming off from where the cylinder is. You will need to tap into atleast three of these. There is a green wire that is the on position. A purple wire that is the accessory position. A yellow/black wire that is the starter wire. There is also a red wire which is the power wire. So basically what you want to do is to install two switches. One for the purple wire and one for the green wire, these switches are hooked up to relays that apply power from the red wire to these when the switches are on. Then you will need a push button hooked up to a relay that applies power to the starter wire when pressed. So basically you flip both switches press the button and your car is on. Flip off the switches to turn your car off Next thing you need to do is drill out the steering column. After this your all done and don't need any keys. Be sure to drill where the red box is... not where the 'practice holes' are
  4. yeah its e36, see them on trademe selling for about $70 already got one but good luck.

    Rear brakes

    Rear brakes

ok firstly i dont want any one critisising me for this, as just at a curious stage at the moment. car: E36 94 M42 318IS Manual is there anyway to dissconnect the rear brakes with a flick of a switch? i want to be able to smoke the tyres up ( dont criticize) but dont want to permanantly disconnect the rear brakes as this causes warrant issues, where as if you had a switch then that would be optimal, now you have to excuse my mechanical knowledge, but are the rear brakes eletrical in a way? i know older cars are completely mechanical, but if eletrical i could find the wire and hook up a relay to it, my eletrical knowledge far exceeds my mechanical. anyhelp would be good, this is purely for educational purposes no illegal activitys will be taking place

  15. Hey guys, im looking to swap the pidly 318is m42 engine for the big brother m52 2.8 dohc, my cars just over 200,000km and the way i drive id say its got 1 or 2 years tops in it. now at the moment my 318is is a manual, so im wondering if that manual gearbox will line up with the m52 and be strong enough to cope, if i cant get it to work with the manual gear box ill go for a different engine alltogether, i wont be caught dead drving a auto, and trying to find a manual gearbox for one of these is near impossible. the front ends of the e36s are basically the same aye? i mean i shouldnt have to modify firewalls or mounts to get this engine to fit aye? other engines i thought about were nissan skyline 2.5 twin turbo, would be cool but not to sure if itll be possible yet. or an old school V8 into it, saw one of these up in meri meri start of this year, sounded awsome.
  16. i had sex with my best friends boyfriend because im sexy and do what i want.
  17. Fuse box should be under the bonnet up against the passenger side fire wall, should be a little box to flip open, i would ask who ever gave you the angel eyes for a wiring diagram, hope you didnt get ripped with a cheap knock off, as ive heard it happen and the lights can be unwarrantable. good luck.
  18. check your fuses for the fuse that youve blown for a start, that will be the cause for the instrument lights and rear lights not working next get a multi meter and find what each wire does, eg put the multi meter to each wire and have someone turn on things when it registers power you know whats what, your angel eyes should of come with a wiring coulor diagram to show whats what on it anyway.
  19. few tips to try before paying the big bucks: your wheels have nothing to do with it! 1). check the vacum hose after the airflow meter, check for any cracks holes and what not, engine could be sucking in more air then what the airflow meter is providing the computer. i solved with problem with a bit of cloth tape. 2). Clean the idle control valve with some carbie cleaner. 3). spark plugs, change

ha ha i broke the clip on my headlights taking out my standard indicators to, just one of the clips so the new ones fit back in but are a bit lopsided as its not supported to the headlight properly at the top, im not to worried been there like that for a while hasnt fallen out, let me no if you can fix the clip as aside from buying a new headlight it really dont look that possible aside from shotty jobs with glue.

  23. All i got to say is the police in this country are bloody useless, your right they should spend more time chasing real criminals then the modified car owner, everyday i constantly see the cops sitting on the side of the road with the radar guns out, so why does it take up to 3 days for a policeman to come to your house if theres a robbery? or why would they send a taxi round to a distressed drunk woman? when theres probably a cop right down the bloody road trying to catch people not indicating properly at a corner, as far as im aware the road death toll has not decreased yet police revenue from ticket collecting has increased, crime in all other areas has also increased. stupid goverment, stupid cops. and also boyracer: under 18 years old modified car owner: over 18 years old
  24. hmmm ok cheers guys, ill see what happens over the next few days if it cant be machined maybe i put a different engine in it as 1800 for a new clutch is just over the top, and someone on here had a new engine for 900 plus what ever he will want for the gearbox and clutch stuff, or my other option is to do a M20 flywheel conversion if the mechanics willing to do it, i dont have the tools. ill let you huys no what happens
  25. 94 e36 318is m42 ok so any i blew up my clutch, took it down to hutt city europeans on wensday, they quoted me $870.00, 475 + gst for clutch kit and 300 + gst for labour said it be ready thursday, well its thursday now i rang the guy he told me the clutch was a complete mess, and the fly wheel is much the same, hes trying to get hold of a guy in wellington to machine the flywheel, i always thought you didnt put the old flywheel back on? instead replace it with what came in the kit? its a dual mass flywheel and i always thought the kit contains one, he said that it would cost me 1800 for a new one sent in from germany, quite at a loss what to do as im pretty sure your not spose to put the old flywheel back on.
