  1. That is reassuring to know, mainly I want a giggle on the weekends and the ability to drive 500km straight and not feel like i haven't slept in 3 days.I was going to buy an E39 540 but got shafted by a seller that backed out of a verbal and written (sms at least) agreement. I decided bugger it, why buy a 540 to keep me happy and broke when the M5 is the dream wheels, may as well just go hard or go home.
  2. I'm looking at buying an E39 M5, but have a couple of hesitations, one being the state of chch roads vs the M spec suspension. Can anyone that is Christchurch based help me track down an M5 owner? I'd also like to go for a cruise in one (don't need to be the driver) to make sure I like how it feels on the road given i intend on doing one or two 1000km ish road trips a month in it.
  3. Sadly that is the conclusion I'm reaching :-(
  4. I think the trouble is that the seller of the AC beleives it to be full spec, i don't think he is trying to mislead anyone maliciously either. I'm not going to pay 6.9k i don't think, but I'm not going to irritate him by pointing out what it isn't...
  5. I'm going to look at the MSpec and Mr. Window smasher is looking at the AC. Will make a D by tuesday. Both are the same colour and trim options. Vanos or no Vanos, that is the question. Aparently the Mspec has had a custom tune by prior owner also... who knows, one of those things hard to verify
  6. It has been established that the 97 is non VANOS, unfortunately it is also not a full ACS Demon, body kit badges and MSpec suspension. Still sexy but not unicorn rare
  7. So I'm looking at getting an E39 540, two have caught my eye, a '99 MSpec with 200k on the clock and a '97 AC Schnitzer with 240k on the clock. The latter is 30% cheaper, but it's in akl rather than chch as I am and the former. The real questions I have are; Which is rarer (and perhaps more likely to hold value like my old E34 540iS) Which provides more giggles in terms of handling and performance? the Mspec has had some pretty major maintenance done recently (gearbox rebuild etc.) So perhaps less likely to punish my wallet in the future.
  8. Long, long long shot but hey, you don't ask you don't get... 6k with no wheels? (I have some Style 5s that would look very nice on this I'm sure would look very nice on this)
  9. So, Lets get the easiest answer to this out of the way: If you dont have lots of $$ dont waste your time. Now then, lets move on Could someone please refer me to a thread, or advise on, information as to the best engine for punishment, and the likley car's it would be found in. Im not looking at doing anything too silly. But am looking at a total spend in the 5k - 8k range. The first car that came to my mind was an M325, or M535, but maybe there is a sneakrative diamond in the rough?
  10. Bump, Less than 24 hours to go guys!! This must sell by months end.
  11. Upity up up. Very very close to reserve guys.
  12. Now im very confused....I thought what confirmed an E34s M5 status (externally) was the twin rear pipes. But nope, that would be the E39 wouldnt it. Bugger. Well thats the look i want. Like the 740. That is not the difficult part though, i know several very good metal fabricators. The question relates more to actually making it fit for one thing, and not having to hack a bumper to make it look right...
  13. Okay, don't shoot me, buuuuuut. If i end up holding onto the 540iS, i think it would look dang sexy with the twin pipes that the M5 and 740 received. What i'm wondering is, am i going to need a written off E34 M5 that has frontal or side damage only to retreive the rear bumper and fuel tank? Or is that possible with a 740, or do i need more/less components to acheive this. From underneath it looks like the fuel tank would interfere with anyway of doing it.
  14. No thanks, for one it;s a 540iS, not just a 540i, and secondly, anyone that needs to be informed that a 540 is a V8 doesnt deserve to look at it
  15. Noted... and ignored for now. If it doesn't get any sensible offers i'll take your advice, time is a luxury i don't have much of at the moment. only 6 weeks till i move jobs and houses, things are hectic!!
  16. Thanks Grant I (could) do performances for functions for a small donation I performed in Te Anau for new years eve at Lion Park, stole the audience from the Band, good times... gooooood times lol.

  18. You can't have been alive for very long, or you've lived a very sheltered existance I love this excuse, many people who just can't drive properly use this excuse. Get some foot control, it will help you be teh l337 driftah you wish you could be and lastly, an excellent display of your maturity. Post like an adult, and people will reply to you like an adult. The starter of this post was being very reasonable imo, you've just acted like a prat, congratulations, i hope your proud.
  19. Were not worthy!!! Were not worthy!!! WERE NOT WORTHY!!!
  20. Just to bring somthing to everyones attention. It is not the date of manufacture, it is the date first registered in Japan that they look at. So searching by model year could shoot you in the nuts. This information is not pulled from the net, but as advised by the guys at TWR Racing, its the reason for the 2 Black M3s they have/had going cheap for a while. 20yrs Old, but registered in Japan only 16 years ago. Now thats a screwed pooch.
  21. 540iS is Mine indeed. The 735i belongs to Dave (Posts as Cress) He has two of them, envy him.
