  1. This just turned up http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/54090-my-jaw-just-dropped-so-cheap/
  2. The cynical part of my brain thought this would be an amazing tag line for ones own Auction... and why didn't I think about doing it for my auction. Someone was looking for a 2002 very recently. Cross posted for the dude http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/53971-bmw-2002-1970s-wanted-for-road-use/?hl=2002
  3. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=956145423 Why... why spend time and money to Turbo one of these and not convert it to Manual... It hurts my brain.
  4. Oh ouch... I had sort of considered brakes etc... but only conceptually not financially. Sane advise. Allegedly the engine in my car has had a recent rebuild, current evidence suggests this was limited in budget though, it missed a few things i'd definitely have done anyway, valve stem seals leaking among other oddities, but I digress. M20 does seem to be quite a solid block, not as capable as the 24v versions. Knowing I'm looking conservatively at 15k or so to dump an S50 in the engine bay, properly, helps realign my thinking.
  5. Just putting feelers out there for an S50B30/2 Complete, Suitable Gearbox, ECU and whatever else I'm probably going to need to drop it into an E30 chassis. Before I go down forced induction or M50 Stroker route, I'd like to know what the parts price is to give me a reference point of the relative expenditure. From what I can see Turbo an M20 is around 3k mark done properlyish, Supercharge Properly 6K+ or Circa 3K to slap an SC14 on, M50 money seems around the same as Turboing, perhaps a little less once I sell all the M20 bits.
  6. You do speak some truth. I think i might just aim for a modest increase over the power of an E30 M3, which would still be a nice increase over what it has now. A 400NM E30 would probably be better as a separate mostly straight line toy, looking at the stance of this thing it doesn't look that well setup, adjustables and super lows, no camber correction, but holy hell it handles, a very small, predictable and controllable amount of over steer when i really give it the jandal.
  7. Oh and i had a drive by chat with the dude that owns the blue E30 340 in Nelson.
  8. It feels pretty awesome so far... So what's the general consensus of the most tear free way (financially and mechanically) to get 400NM of torque in the engine bay (because who actually cares about HP anyway). 400NM will give me similar or better seat of the pants feeling to an E39 or E60 M5 (by my drunken calculations)
  9. So that really is the question folks, how do I get light weight and nimble and add low end torque as i must admit it does make me nervous flogging an M20B23 from 4.5 to 6.5krpm as that seems to be the business zone. Or do these things love to rev and i shouldn't worry?
  10. After years of the shame of knowing an E30 325m could smoke my old E34 540iS in the twisties, but not having experienced an E30 for myself, today I broke the seal, myself plus OEFOXs old E30 blasted from picton to golden bay in the most funnest of ways. All i can say Is i get it now... holy crap... a car that WANTS to corner vs one that WANTS to go straight! I've never understood why anyone in there sane mind would want a puny I6 m3 when they could have an V8 m5 and allll that power! Yet here i am with an alleged 81rwkw grinning like an idiot. I cannot fathom how much more fun a car that handles like this with closer to the power to weight ratio of my 540... I think I'm converted. Next step... bolt on faster toys to this M20B23 or go find somthing that starts with and S.
  11. I'd have a poke through this section of the forum :-) http://bimmersport.co.nz/forum/13-sponsors-preferential-rates/
  12. It's his first day, go easy on him. In 5 years the answer won't have changed I imagine. You think some manufacturer would have come up with a toroidal perpetual interdimensional forced induction filter by now though... still the same old fibre oil and mesh bullshit.
  13. I'm picking an E30 up on friday that's on superlows, if they are too low for me I'll drop you a line.

I think this dude hasn't posted in the forum since this thread in 2013, so pretty likely that it's sold and/or he's not around anymore. Now run and hide before a Mod tells you off for posting on old threads.
  15. How much do you think to make this road legal http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/specialist-cars/competition-cars/auction-912094540.htm
  16. Replaced them from the solenoid to the plenum and boom, starts straight away no missing... i can't beleive i waited so long to look in to this, $11 fix.
  17. And could the deteriorated state of the yellowish one be to blame for slow rough starts? 2001 e39 540i
  18. Rival tesla in every way... but probably twice the price. http://inhabitat.com/porsches-new-mission-e-electric-vehicle-packs-600-horsepower-and-recharges-in-15-minutes/
  19. Had this thing only 6 months, but down sizing. Recent WoF Will sell with at least 6 Months rego great tyres all round new battery 6 months ago. In Black, body in great shape for age/miles, just one ding in the drivers door, no idea of the origin or if it will pop out. Both Mufflers removed and replaced with coby type things. 190k on the clock. Have twice had a thump from the diff/trans, but since not recurred... Some have suggested torque converter, I don't know, but it's time to move it on as I've down sized. Asking 8k 7.5 7.0k from the masses. 7.5k 7k 6.5k for bimmersporters.
  20. I think somone else just put them on their car http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/53900-yay-or-nay/#entry581655
  21. Nothing on tradme around this time? Where did you find her?
