Thanks for your responses. I was thinking around $8k, but can't be bothered going through the hassle of listing it, it sitting for months and having to deal with the continuous stream of test pilots that seem to look at BMWs (from previous experiences of selling them). I live in the CBD and work in the CBD. The car only gets used in the weekend and unless I'm going away it never goes further than Ponsonby or Parnell. Thinking of selling and just getting a rental car when I need to travel out of town. BUT the car is very nice and if I sold it and then decided I wanted another car it would be hard to replace (in any event I would replace it with the same thing, or an E46 328ci). It has a no excess warranty until the end of 2010, so apart from servicing it doesn't really cost me anything. But then again, insurance and reg add up! A bit of a dilemma...

I have a 96 328i coupe which I'm thinking of selling. I can't be bothered listing it if I am going to have to deal with test pilots all day trying to low ball me, or if I have to give it away for a song. I want to know the real prices people have been getting for similar cars, or those who are in the market, what sort of cash can realistically buy a nice one. There are plenty on trademe, but prices seem to be all over the show. Mine is a 96 in cosmos with black cloth sport seats, it has the full MTech kit and genuine M3 Evo wheels, apart from that it is standard. The car is very tidy and has no issues, it has $4k in receipts over the last 12 months. It has travelled 130km. The "bad" points are that it is an auto and a jap import. The car would suit an enthusiast and needs nothing spent on it. (Note to self - take some good pics and load them up in the Showroom thread!).

STarting price $13k. These guys usually have the start price a couple of grand under the reserve. Cheap car for someone holding out for a manual. Link

$350??? Where is that quote from?
-
Yes, the seller is on drugs. That is $20k max - all day long.

I thought you drove a new Audi TT Tony. Times are tough after leaving TVNZ?
-
Looks nice. Kms?
-
Not bad buying, but if you look harder there are several popping up for under $10k

I'm after clear lights for my E36 coupe. Preferably OEM items, but may consider some depo ones. Am after front corners, indicators and tails. Please let me know what ya got!
-
Remember $13k would buy you the nicest E36 328i in NZ. $13k could also get you a E46 328ci. I wouldn't rush into a cheap M3 without a full inspection. The kms are getting high too... I figure it is listed there to save TradMe fees. Seems a bit silly if it is an auction (less exposure).

It probably thinks your car is an E46 (due to the year).

Has anyone checked out the new and improved CarJam? One of the new features is an automated vehicle guide by Turners. Got a but of a shock when I saw mine (97 328i coupe, 130kms - $4.5k!) but it is probably realistic. Your thoughts?

I think this is very cool. Love it how we turns his nose up at the Lexus / Windom!

I wasn't going to say this, but your constant whinging has really wound me up. I'm sick of people on here bitching about getting attention from the Police. You drive a primer grey 80's BMW with big wheels on it, a loud exhaust and very low springs. Isn't that just screaming out for attention? If I was a cop, I'd pull you over too! If you don't want the Police to notice you, flag your noob boy racer "mods".
-
"Get over it." It is a primer grey eighties BMW which bounces down the street. Surely there are more important things to worry about than a cop hurting your feelings.

Isn't it only $2? Why bother going to the hassle of trying to modify your car / hide your plate? I agree that people with German Plates are likely to get stung or some sort of letter from LTNZ.
-
Has anyone driven on the new toll road with a German plate? See this link about number plate detection. I wonder if they can work out your plate is in a different font and issue you a ticket, or if the system cannot detect German plates at all.

I realise the site needs advertising to keep it a viable business operation, but Biker Planet on the homepage? I could get used to it, but the ad is selling the members on Biker Planet as hot singles!
-
They are the same price here!
-
Yes, but there are plenty of replica's out there. Like these. Why will you only look at genuine wheels?
-
Interesting... How does it handle after being "slammed"? What is involved in shortening shocks and what are the results?
-
Don't mean to be a smart ass, but do you realise it is spelt incorrectly?

Spotted this... 02 Compact in black. Looks like a nice car with the M Sport bits. Current bid is $10k with 2 hours to go. Is this the same engine as a 318i sedan of the same vintage?

Good stuff. I've been with State for 5 years and haven't had any problems. The only issue is the $200 my premium increased by when I moved from Dunedin to Auckland! They didn't seem to care it is parked in a secure building and now travels less than 10,000km a year. All up I now pay about $700 for comprehensive which includes windscreen cover.
