At the end of the day, it comes down to the car in question, if I was buying a F430 I'd love a yellow one, but a 3 Series I would avoid in yellow. However as a general rule, I would never buy a burgundy car, I would pay less for a light coloured car and would try to avoid silver - to me, silver is the epitome of boring. Silver is so common that it times I think the car has no paint on it at all. Black and dark blue are my favourites for BMW/Audi/Mercs.

Sold for $11,050. TM Link

Can anyone recommend a place to service the trannie on my 328i? Essentially replace the oil and gasket. Price guide would be helpful too.

I'm sorry... but $115k? I know these are rare, but they are not BMW's most desired model and you can buy a standard 850i for 1/10th of the price. To be worth $115k it has to be VERY desirable, an 80's M6 is more desirable and is only worth half as much. Remember, this is the same league as Porsche 993 Turbos and Ferrari 355s. I think the seller must be a bit of dreamer, good on him for trying though! To me (IMHO!) this falls in the same category as the $100k M3 cab - good on the seller for having a go, but you would need to find a very, very special person to purchase at anything near than the asking price.

Looks NZ new too. A good buy for someone with balls.

Looks like a great buy. I feel for you trying to sell a car in the bottom of the south. I lived in Dunedin for 5 years and it was very hard trying to sell euro stuff privately! Good luck

I'm also a member of VASK and came across this post. The poor guy bought an Audi RS2 privately and has now been repoed (and will appear at Turners repo auction next week) as the previous owner who is now bankrupt still had a lot of money outstanding on it. No matter how many people try and help and what avenues are looked at, there is nothing really that the poor guy can do. MORAL OF THE STORY - when purchasing a used car privately, always do VIR or CarJam search to see if any money is owing. VASK Link (E: can someone please tidy up my subtitle) Done

I realise turbines are "stock", but to me they just look like hub caps. Stick with the throwing stars.

Nice one, sounds like a good buy. Is it auto or manual? How many kms?

Surely if someone wanted to steal a car badly enough, they could get the information. You can get the info from the post shop or the likes of car jam. All you need is a credit card. A prepaid "prezzy" card would do the job too. As for registering the car to another address - this seems to me to be rather over cautios. What happens when you get an infringement notice, don't pay it as you never see it and wind up in court?
-
I really couldn't tell you any more that would be of help. Best to give Coutts parts dept and ask them about the cost. As for Nav CD's, nav in NZ was only launched by MB about 12 months ago. From memory, the CD's are rather expensive.

Was at the supermarket a short while ago and almost collapsed in a fit of laughter after seeing a japped up Honda Civic being driven by a spotty, short 15 year old with the number plate... YRUWET Who the hell would order such a stupid number plate? Is he trying to suggest girls get turned on by him and his POS rice mobile? Come on...

I know this isn't a music forum, but when arguably the biggest band in the world releases a new album, it is something pretty exciting. Just bought the new U2 Cd and have to say I am sadly underwhelmed. There are no feel good hits like all their previous albums featured and the whole CD sounds very similar and fades into the background a bit too much for my liking. I'm a huge U2 fan and had today marked down in my calendar... Oh well, maybe it will grow on me in time. Your thoughts?

Boohoo... why should we care? If you wanted the car badly enough you would have been more proactive - end of story. I was a car dealer a few years ago. I loved it and found it to be great fun and also a great opportunity to develop your negotiation and communication skills. Yes, there are a lot of muppets in the industry but on the whole, dealers are no different to you and I - they are just out to make a crust.

As the title says, after some Cosmos touch up paint. I should really go to the dealers but I work during their opening hours and am always to hungover to get to Team Mc's parts dept before 12 on a Saturday!

Next Car: Looking for E46 320CI/325CI (facelift&white) or E46 330C
jjs replied to fatjoez's topic in General Discussion
Can I ask why you are only after white? It is "cool" at the moment, but something else will be cooler in a year or so. It it were me (and I guess 90% of the people in this forum) I would focus on the qualities of the actual car itself and not be as fussy when it comes to colour. The majority of NZ new Ci's will be silver, grey or black - a white one would be very, very rare. As mentioned above, a 320 is a very different beast to an M3. I think this car is a great buy - NZ new '03 330ci in black travelled 77km with all the nice bits, it is SMG which sounds like it could suit you. It looks like good value at $28k http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-197980812.htm -
I have seen similar units in imported Porsche's. They do the job, but for a car enthusiast they look horrid and stick out dogs balls. What models are you looking at? NZ New CLK500's should have COMAND fitted. You can pick up a nice one of those for under $40k
-
I used to do some work for a Benz dealership. COMAND is prohibitively expensive to retrofit, and is also very expensive to convert a jap to NZ spec. There is no one (to my knowledge) who fixes these in NZ. Many W220 S-Classes that were imported into NZ had jap COMAND ripped out and replaced with a base spec CD/radio, not as effective but a lot more attractive than a screen full of japanese characters. What are the details of your CLK? Importing a second hand unit from Europe would probably be the cheapest option, but you would need to get it fitted by a Benz dealer at no small cost.

The E28 really was a minter, the only thing you could fault was faded plastic crome trim around the rear window. The crome bumpers were immaculate and there was only one noticeable dent on the car. Surprisingly, it passed in at $2700. Buy of the day had to be the 95 520i - with light grey leather and black / ash wood trim - even though the body work was rough, it was a bargain at $900!
-
Don't tell me it's going on your 316i - that should be illegal!
-
Would look a lot better with the amber indicators. R109 SL's never had clears from the factory. I wonder how "genuine" the car is. These usually fetch about 15,000 - 20,000 pounds in the UK.
-
Looks like a nice one. It looks NZ new too.
-
A very cheap E34 is in the same auction. Has the leather in a similar Miami Vice colour to yours Simon. If it sells at the estimated $1-2k, someone with an E34 with cloth should buy it, do an interior swap and on sell it!
-
Nice NZ new example. Maybe a bit pricey at $3-5k? Turners link

I don't understand what is so exciting about these... Isn't it no more than a chipped 1.8T?
