    Porsche

"PORSCHE - THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE" I have driven a few and in my opinion, nothing compares to a 911.
  2. My god. You guys will have enough music to listen to a different song everytime you drive your car for the rest of your life!!!! Where do you get 100+ gigs worth of songs from?

    027 Billion

A guy who drives a yellow 360 Modena who lives near me has "027 Billion" plastered down the side of it and other statements about retiring young on the rear windscreen. Has anyone else seen this? I'm thinking its a pyramid scheme promotion, but I shouldn't be too quick to judge. Nice car, shame its killed with all those decals!
  5. Looks like a mint car. But IMHO, $50k seems like a big investment. These cars were far from loved when new, not sure if it will ever be a "classic" outside BMW circles. But in saying that, you never know...
  6. Go to work, or if i'm lucky enough to get time off I hit City Golf for a simulated round!
  7. Ah yes, but how do you really know it hasn't done 183, 283 or 383k?
  8. So... if a gallon is 3.8 litres... Petrol (91) was $1.82 last time I checked. (100 x 3.8) x 1.82 = $691.6 p/w $691.60 x 52 = $35,963 p/a Seems suprisingly accurate to me!
  9. I have never owned one, but drove them several times in my previous life as a car dealer. In my opinion, they are not near as good as everyone makes out. Horrid engine and quite a numb drive. A Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 new at $24,990 is a much better proposition than a used Mini. Alternatively, look at a diesel Skoda Fabia vRS too. You easily get used to the speedo in the centre as its so damn big. If you do buy a Mini, I would strongly advise getting a NZ New one (I've seen some rough Jappas with very strange spec) and stretching to an "S".

    750i

Not what I would call a "bargain". The V12's are less desirable than V8's. Huge cost of running and high maintenance, you won't be able to get mechanical breakdown insurance (a warranty) for one. Also, the V12 is only available in LWB format, which is a lot less desirable as it affects the handling and won't fit into a standard garage. So, it looks prima facie to be a great buy, but a 740 will always be a much better option...
  11. Yeah most of the people who bought off the plans got absolutely shafted. I thought people that would / could spend that amount of money would be a bit more intelligent. Cheers for your help everyone, its going on the back burner at the moment...
  12. How much would a manual conversion on this cost? I'm guessing you need an M3 box... Could be a steal at $17k Trademe
  13. I'm looking at buying an apartment in the Viaduct, have found a place I'm keen and did a QV search of recent sales in the area. After paying $22.95 for 20 results, none of them were relevant. They were all for shoeboxes in Hobson Street, a couple in Upper Queen and a few else scattered around the CBD. I sent them an email complaining, but had no response. Has anyone else used this service before? How have you found it? Also, does anyone in the know have an educated opinion about the value of the Viaduct at the moment? They seem to be dropping very fast due to a combination of high interest rates, the Blue Chip fallout and concerns over ground rents. One of the places I'm looking at is available for half it's CV. Cheers, Jeremy

    Fair enough

Well, you are not the only one. This whole topic does seem rather hypocritical to me. The bulk of people using this forum are far from perfect when it comes to spelling and grammar. In many cases, this is a true example of "the pot calling the kettle black". Last time I checked, Bimmersport was a forum for BMW owners, not critics of the English language.
  15. Does yours have A/C? I looked at a UK import 323i coupe too (but a 96), great car at a great price... but no A/C. There seems to be huge variation of spec in different markets. Looks like a nice car, well done.
  16. I'm sure most of these questions will be answered by your employer upon starting. But try and educate yourself on claiming back expenses and maximising the tax advantages of your new role. I would also highly recommend getting GST registered. As for finance, what do you need to borrow the funds for? You should lease a vehicle (tax deductions) and I'm sure your employer will sort out uniforms etc.

    BMW X5 V8

There is a very cheap NZ New '01 V8 Sportpac coming up at Turners http://www.turners.co.nz/TabId/188/vguid/A...13/default.aspx 110kms, but NZ new... If you could own it for less than $30k, it would be one of the best value in NZ. As for the Grand Cherokee comment, they are good value but quite a different vehicle. The new model (WH) is a much better bet than the old model and come with either the silky Benz V6 Diesel or 5.7 Hemi V8...
  20. Sounds like a good idea, but a lot of us are restricted to the CBD as work is often 7:30am - 7pm
  21. Thanks for that, but need something close to the CBD.
  22. A mate of mine has recently moved to AKL and wants to get his A4 2.8 V6 Quattro serviced. Wanting some suggestions / reccomendations. CCS and Giltraps are the obvious choice, but surely there is an independent out there who will do the same for less!
  23. Bugger I can't make it to Hamilton. Not just for the racing but for all the other sights... Peroxide blonde girls wearing white pants with visible g-strings, a sea of black Jim Beam singlets being worn by skin heads, and my favourite a whole family decked out head to toe in either Ford or Holden garb!
  24. If you are looking at a Passat, you should seriously have a gander at Skoda's too. An Octavia vRS TDI is a fantastic car, also great value at $52k. Also it may pay to wait and check out the Jap stuff. The diesel Legacy Outback isn't too far away and the word on the street is that Toyata a bringing in a swag of diesels soon. And, now for something completely different... Chrysler 300C CRD Touring. Bad boy looks with the stunning 165kw Benz 3.0 V6 diesel.
