  1. OK... Is the car NZ new? I have found in the past main dealers tend to bag imports (some times rightly so, other times just nit picking). Also, a main dealer will likely just perform a "tick the box" type of pre-inspection. Also, an E36 is probably getting a bit old for them to be all that interested. I have had experience with Page Euro (as others here have too) and they are excellent. It would be a fair guess to say they would take more of an interest and give you a more rounded opinion of the condition of the car, and the way it drives compared to other similar vehicles they service. Have you agreed to purchase the car yet? A good friend of mine went through the same process as you and the day it was to be dropped off for a pre-paid mechanical inspection, the seller sold it to another buyer. I would recommend giving the seller a deposit, subject to the car's mechanical inspection being to your satisfaction. That way you are protected. Also, get the inspectors to quote on any repairs, which can be a good bargaining tool when negotiating a final sale price. Good luck! Oh - do you have pics or any other info on the car?
  2. Was this the german style or NZ replicas?

    Navman GPS

Or... Harvey Norman are currently doing the Uniden GNS 8350 on special for $399. People on Trademe seem to be getting that for used ones (I think the previously retailed for $599). I think the big advantage with these is that they have fixed speed camera locations pre loaded. Has anyone used the Uniden units?
  4. Im relocating to Auckland soon and am thinking about investing in a GPS unit. I think I will go for a Navman due to reputation and good feedback from people I know. The hardest part is choosing what model. Im wanting to spend about $400 tops, but is it worth spending more to get something top of line. Not really needing gimmicks like a camera. Usability is at the top of my list. Can anyone explain the big differences or their experiences with: ICN 330 ICN 530 ICN 730 N 40I Or the new S30 Thanks in advance...
  5. I know how it feels, had my E30 keyed when parked at school in about '99. I paid for the car myself through having two jobs whilst studying. People see a BMW badge and think "poor little rich boy". Tall poppy syndrome is one of the reasons motivating me to head overseas!
  6. Unless it's a corolla, STAY AWAY from the AA. They have a very strong prejudice against euro stuff.
  7. This is a very cool car! Not bad buying either http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=687055

  9. Now on TradeMe, $1 Reserve http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-123250006.htm

    Stuck on No. Plates

The tape you can use is available from Repco, just ask them for the strongest foam sticky tape. From memory it has a green backing. To be extra safe, screw them back in, but put the double sided tape on the edges.
  11. Anyone interested? Make me an offer, or will list on TradeMe
  12. A lot of people here (including myself) can be quite anal with spelling and grammar. If you want people to put the time and effort into responding to your questions, common courtesy would be to spell and write properly.
  13. Keep an eye on this... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=666548 This looks mint too... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=666548 Nice car, but the seller is on drugs... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=670254
  14. Oh yes... In case you were wondering they came with a set of 16" M Sport wheels I purchased for my 325i, but I just used the lock nuts off my old wheels.
  15. As per photo... Im located in Dunedin, preferably pick up but can also send. Make me an offer before they hit TradeMe.
  16. Are you buying this as a first car? What type of driving do you do? I had a '90 E30 318i manual when I was 16 and it was a fantastic car; economical, reliable and easy to work on. Maybe something like that would be a better option? You will find a mint a manual 318 for $4k.
  17. As requested... I personally wouldn't pay $4k for a car that is presented in that way, trim missing, home patch up jobs etc etc. $4k should buy you an absolute minter, a good friend of mine recently sold a very similar car to that for just over $2k.
  18. IMHO it just isn't presented very well in the photos. Remember these are old European cars, don't make a rushed decision!
  19. What are the chances.... Another one nearly identical also for sale in Dunedin Looks like its a bit cheaper too... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-121008510.htm
  20. Try eBay, there are usually heaps there. Last time I checked, prices from a BMW dealer weren't too bad.
  21. I reckon you could do better for $4k. Looks a bit doggy to me. I know they are hard to find, but the occassional manual nz new 325i pops up for around that sort of dosh.
  22. A friend of mine had one a few years ago, I beleive they were part of a Waikato Uni Orientation promotion. Probably easier to find someone with a few photoshop skills to reproduce it for you for a box of beers.
  23. I have heard of a few M325i's being sold new in NZ with motorsport body kit deleted on the option list. Not sure why someone would do this, make it look more subtle?
  24. I've driven a 996 GT2 and it was very scary. With all that power, RWD and no traction control, the ass slides out every time you squeeze the throttle. A lot of fun on a wide road with no one else on it though! I can see why Clarkson calls them "the widow maker".
  25. Agreed. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. That car has been sitting around there for quite a while... You'd probably own it for 6 or 7, which realistically (IMHO) is what its worth.
