taking out rear spring pads?
greenday-rulz21 replied to l0w320's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Lets get off the topic of removing them completely and focus on getting different ones. Just checked in the parts catalogue and for E36 theres 3 or 4 different thickness's for the rear. 5mm, 7.5mm, 10mm and 21.5mm. Assume theres also choice for E30. There doesn't seem to be any alternatives for the front, however they already are only 3mm thick apparently. -
Indeed you can.Ray bought a couple sets for his 540's. They looked pretty good although I don't know the quality of them. His were off a guy on trade me who occasionaly has them. Here are some other alternatives. http://www.umnitza.com/piaa-super-white-an...ade-p-1108.html http://www.umnitza.com/umnitza-mtec-upgrad...del-p-5634.html

^^^ Haha! Didn't think of that. Sent him another. In bit of a mood this morning so will see what he says -
Mark you are correct on most of that. The options list you have attached is not the 'Options List' that you use when ordering a vehicle. That is only a list to decode your list. It applies to ALL BMW models. You could not specify M Parallels on an E36. They did not come in E36 offset. So others, Don't read it and assume you could option anything on that list. Likely difference would be larger sway bars on one option. Standard E36's didn't come with a sway bar at all.

Haha, Not gonna do anything! The boot of his Laurel isn't gonna be over 4 meters so just gonna order him my interpretation of what he's failing to say. Don't have the time to deal with back and forth replies when he obviously can't comprehend primary school maths. -
Ok, well this guy was interested in one of my lip spoilers. Asked him for the length he wanted. His response It this point I'm a bit confused with his special math skills. Now I'm starting to get a bit pissed off. You just can't help some people. Unless my math is wrong and this would be quite embarrassing for me!

Nanny state. Longer jail time. Pay the majority of costs. Age is no excuse, I'm 17 and to be honest I've never had the urge to get so sh*taced that I want to steel thousands of dollars worth of property, 2 shotguns and an Audi. Maybe if he has a mental disorder that can lead to this it could have been a good idea to not let him drink alcohol in the first place? I mean isn't that the trigger of all this? Btw Karl, I agree. I'm sick of it too but I don't really care anymore. People can think whatever they like about the stereotype of teenagers and I guess the different groups around the place prove that stereotype right or wrong. You have to bear in mind for every group of teens out on the street racing, stealing, getting soo drunk that they get violent there's going to be 3 or 4 groups who are hanging out as friends and don't need to do all those things to feel awesome and special. The 'awesome badass' people who crash their cars cause they're commiting DUI are the ones who get all the airtime and fuel the stereotype. I don't really care, its not me! haha

You must be absolutely stoked mate! 46 thous k's! Hellrot looks stunning.

Awesome choice man! They look great. Time attack ftw!

No, not a problem. All Z4's are made in America so I guess its the same deal with the 1 series.
-
We so should! Awesome idea mate. Mark when are you free? I've got a copy of photoshop somewhere but just looking at all the functions makes my head hurt. Although I know its well worth getting those skills.
-
No no no, Not directed at anyone in particular. Just the posts that stood out sounded though I was going to sack it out, was never my intention. Your advice and its really good to hear. Very helpful. I never intended to sack it out or go to super lows. Thats why I haven't already seriously looked at lowering because I wanted a medium between super low and arch gap. I'm extremely lucky that Jase offered me his, because thats pretty much exactly what I want. However it could go a touch lower in the front but I'm not at all worried about that and won't be doing anything about that. All I really want to do is lose the arch gap. Wheels!
-
Don't get you knickers in a twist! I don't intend to slam it! Like Ari says it is miles in the air. They're Jase's old springs so it should sit pretty similar to his I would think. Been for a ride in his at that hight it handles equally as amazing as mine now but probably better. (Do not want to start a huge discussion on lowering doesn't do anything for handling sh*t). Still not convinced on the gunmetal centers though. I love the wheels you posted Sam but not really sure. Maybe just stick with silver? But thats boring! Ahh! btw Glenn, cheers for that. I'll have a look around very keen to learn more.
-
Cheers Mark! You are a legend! I do really need to learn how to use photoshop, it comes in handy for these sorts of things. Thats why I'm getting around to the wheels now mate. Should be getting Jase's lowering springs in the next week or two, 50ish mm drop. Should look like the photoshop picture Mark and Brook did for me before! Probably should have asked to do it on that picture instead but the colours were played around with in photoshop so I don't think it would give an accurate representation of what it would look like. Thanks to Mark again. High Five!
-
Awesome Mark. Appreciate it, absolutely no rush. I'm gonna take maybe the rear two off this weekend and polish the lips on them first then do the fronts, and then I'll paint the centers of all of them at the same time. Expecting to spend a minimum of 5 hours on each wheel and even that's extremely optimistic. Hopefully they'll come out alright!
-
Cheers for the fast response's. I see what you're getting at Sam. I have seen those pictures before and tbh they're the reason I really wanna go with a polished lip. Not too sure about gunmetal on steel blue though. Still interested to see maybe the blue I posted, maybe the colour of the car. Don't worry bout photoshopping a polished lip! Also if someone could put those gunmetal on mine that'd be sweet. Would forever be in your debt!
