Who is the best to use for LCD screen repair for both the dash and the stereo?

Thanks for the replies. Where does 130ks place on the low medium high ks for these cars? A little more info based on my viewing and test drive today. It was ordered brand new from the UK buy a kiwi (km/h speedo). 2 owners from new and it's just been traded in and I'm buying from a wholesaler. Good servcie history, no vanos noise, slight vibration (hanger bearing I suspect). Outside is showroom condition bar a mark or two on the front bumper (to be repaired) but will need new rubber on it soon. Inside should come up with a groom and a bit of love. Drove well (except the vibration). Hi Guys, It's been a while since I've been on here but I was hoping to tap into the knowledge of the group. I have been offered a 2002 E39 M5 with 130ks. Original condition with a service history (I haven't scrutinised this yet) Silver / Black leather This is a model I've always admired and appreciated and I am thinking of acquiring this car. Problem is I haven't been following the market recently. 3 questions: What do we think it's worth? What have other M5s sold for recently? What do I need to look out for and does modern day BMW (Christchurch) know what to look for on these cars if I was to get it PPI'd? If not who in CHCH would? I don't intend to use the car much but my Range Rove Classic needs a stablemate. Thanks in advance Dan

I've had about 8 of these over the past few years, including a e55 and e63. Solid cars, I've never had a single issue in 70,000ks across the 8 cars, even when We have lowered the airmatic and out big wheels on them. The band expanders are cheap and easy to fit, at least up here in auckland. And the drivetrains will do the big Ks when looked after. I've had a couple done 150k plus and they haven't felt any different to 80k cars. Much lazier to drive than the 5 series, but big, spacious, comfortable and a lot of car for the money. I'd look for a e500 with the full amg kit (pretty common) for the best mix of looks and economy. They can be had for $10k with 100-120k if you hunt around. Not much else you can buy for that price that's 03+ and offers the same features.

Boot space is fine we had a mountain buggy and 335i touring. Biggest issue we had was it didn't fit out isofix recaro seats very well as the rear seats are quite high. I wanted a rear facing 8-18kg isofix recaro and it basically hit the roof. The forward facing was liveable but tight to squeeze the little one in. All in all a decent sized wagon in my mind. 5 series are huge, we could basically fit out Mountain buggy in length ways.

You have to buy them from BMW. And the price is about 2.5 times as much as a standard euro plate.

If you don't know what your doing and it's out of town, Get them to take it to BMW in Tauranga for a full pre purchase inspection at your cost. Get the problems rectified before you buy it, and don't think there isn't be issues, I've never seen one for sale that didn't have something that needed attention, it's 12 year old car. There simply isn't another option in this case, if you don't do that, you may as well throw your money down a drain.

They will be different widths, I've seen it before, because those wheels come in both staggered and non staggered setups, some tyre shops don't realise and will fit one or both of the wider ones on the front.The style 135s don't have dish so they can be very hard to tell by eye if they are fitted correctly. Best to pull off a pair and check the back of the wheel. You may notice one of the 225 front tyres has more sidewall stretch than the other, that would be a dead giveaway. Also what's the condition and brand of your tyres? They could well be near the end of the life and have worn unevenly.

Has it got the staggered Msport wheels and are they in the right corners? I'm sure the tyre shop has the staggered tyre setup the right way around, but they could be on the wrong wheels, ie there could be two wider wheels on one side?

I did exactly this...However I was disappointed with the 335d, it was quick no doubt, but souless compared to the 335i (and I love a good diesel, we have two other good ones in the garage). In my mind the petrol turbo was better suited to this type of car and dynamic. My modded 335i wagon averaged 8l/100k on a trip to waihi and back and 10 around town. Hardly a gas guzzler. Suresh was instrumental in helping me get mine up to standard, but I'd budget replacing all the coils, carbon clean the intake, clean or replace the vanos solenoids and fit a oil catch can on any 335i. The difference in the car that this made was remarkable. In regards to size, my 335i had 3 car seats across the back once and was comfortable for 4 people on a long trip other times. Much bigger than the e46 and the active seats are pretty decent too.
