  5. I have a classic Range Rover. It doesn't get worse than that for on going costs.
  6. Thanks for the replies. Where does 130ks place on the low medium high ks for these cars? A little more info based on my viewing and test drive today. It was ordered brand new from the UK buy a kiwi (km/h speedo). 2 owners from new and it's just been traded in and I'm buying from a wholesaler. Good servcie history, no vanos noise, slight vibration (hanger bearing I suspect). Outside is showroom condition bar a mark or two on the front bumper (to be repaired) but will need new rubber on it soon. Inside should come up with a groom and a bit of love. Drove well (except the vibration). Spec is as follows: Vehicle information VIN WBSDE92070CB37466 Type code DE92 Type M5 (EUR) E series E39 () Series 5 Type LIM Steering RL Doors 4 Engine S62 Displacement 5.00 Power 294 Drive HECK Transmission MECH Colour TITANSILBER METALLIC (354) Upholstery PRAEGELEDER/SCHWARZ (O6SW) Prod.date 2002-07-09 Vehicle upgrades High-End sound system Read more Vehicle options S261 Side airbags for rear passengers S265 Tyre pressure control (TPC) S401 Lift-up-and-slide-back sunroof, electric S428 Warning triangle and first aid kit S441 Smoker package S470 Isofix-System S508 Park Distance Control (PDC) S521 Rain sensor S672 CD changer for 6 CDs S676 HiFi speaker system L812 National version Great Britain S850 Dummy-SALAPA S863 Retailer Directory Europe S877 Delete cross-pattern operation S880 On-board vehicle literature English Vehicle options S210 Dynamic stability control S216 HYDRO STEERING-SERVOTRONIC S249 Multifunction f steering wheel S302 Alarm system S423 Floor mats, velours S430 Interior/outside mirror with auto dip S459 Seat adjuster, electric, with memory S473 Armrest front S488 Lumbar support, driver and passenger S494 Seat heating driver/passenger S500 Headlight wipe/wash/Intensive cleaning S520 Fog lights S522 Xenon Light S534 Automatic air conditioning S555 On-board computer V with remote control Vehicle options S661 Radio BMW Business (C43) S710 M sports steering wheel, multifunction S785 White direction indicator lights S853 Language version English Download Does anyone see any issues or anything I have missed? Any obvious reasons not to buy based on the info above? Does anyone know the car at all?
  7. Hi Guys, It's been a while since I've been on here but I was hoping to tap into the knowledge of the group. I have been offered a 2002 E39 M5 with 130ks. Original condition with a service history (I haven't scrutinised this yet) Silver / Black leather This is a model I've always admired and appreciated and I am thinking of acquiring this car. Problem is I haven't been following the market recently. 3 questions: What do we think it's worth? What have other M5s sold for recently? What do I need to look out for and does modern day BMW (Christchurch) know what to look for on these cars if I was to get it PPI'd? If not who in CHCH would? I don't intend to use the car much but my Range Rove Classic needs a stablemate. Thanks in advance Dan
  8. I've had about 8 of these over the past few years, including a e55 and e63. Solid cars, I've never had a single issue in 70,000ks across the 8 cars, even when We have lowered the airmatic and out big wheels on them. The band expanders are cheap and easy to fit, at least up here in auckland. And the drivetrains will do the big Ks when looked after. I've had a couple done 150k plus and they haven't felt any different to 80k cars. Much lazier to drive than the 5 series, but big, spacious, comfortable and a lot of car for the money. I'd look for a e500 with the full amg kit (pretty common) for the best mix of looks and economy. They can be had for $10k with 100-120k if you hunt around. Not much else you can buy for that price that's 03+ and offers the same features.
  9. Boot space is fine we had a mountain buggy and 335i touring. Biggest issue we had was it didn't fit out isofix recaro seats very well as the rear seats are quite high. I wanted a rear facing 8-18kg isofix recaro and it basically hit the roof. The forward facing was liveable but tight to squeeze the little one in. All in all a decent sized wagon in my mind. 5 series are huge, we could basically fit out Mountain buggy in length ways.
  10. You have to buy them from BMW. And the price is about 2.5 times as much as a standard euro plate.
  11. If you don't know what your doing and it's out of town, Get them to take it to BMW in Tauranga for a full pre purchase inspection at your cost. Get the problems rectified before you buy it, and don't think there isn't be issues, I've never seen one for sale that didn't have something that needed attention, it's 12 year old car. There simply isn't another option in this case, if you don't do that, you may as well throw your money down a drain.
  12. They will be different widths, I've seen it before, because those wheels come in both staggered and non staggered setups, some tyre shops don't realise and will fit one or both of the wider ones on the front. The style 135s don't have dish so they can be very hard to tell by eye if they are fitted correctly. Best to pull off a pair and check the back of the wheel. You may notice one of the 225 front tyres has more sidewall stretch than the other, that would be a dead giveaway. Also what's the condition and brand of your tyres? They could well be near the end of the life and have worn unevenly.
  13. Has it got the staggered Msport wheels and are they in the right corners? I'm sure the tyre shop has the staggered tyre setup the right way around, but they could be on the wrong wheels, ie there could be two wider wheels on one side?
  14. I did exactly this...However I was disappointed with the 335d, it was quick no doubt, but souless compared to the 335i (and I love a good diesel, we have two other good ones in the garage). In my mind the petrol turbo was better suited to this type of car and dynamic. My modded 335i wagon averaged 8l/100k on a trip to waihi and back and 10 around town. Hardly a gas guzzler. Suresh was instrumental in helping me get mine up to standard, but I'd budget replacing all the coils, carbon clean the intake, clean or replace the vanos solenoids and fit a oil catch can on any 335i. The difference in the car that this made was remarkable. In regards to size, my 335i had 3 car seats across the back once and was comfortable for 4 people on a long trip other times. Much bigger than the e46 and the active seats are pretty decent too.
  15. I noticed a smoother pull, more power and as Suresh said, much nicer idle.
  16. From memory it was around $600 but don't quote me, I had a few other things done at the same time. Just give Graeme a call at BMWorkshop and he can give you an accurate figure
  17. BMWorkshop Grey Lynn did mine with before and after photos. Made a noticeable difference.
  18. They look like e60 grills to me....
  19. Thanks for all your interest this is now sold.
  20. Developers don't build houses to sit empty, they build them to sell or rent. And they wouldn't be doing it if their wasn't demand. There will never be a surplus of houses in your area. Your comments are ironic given that your house (based on what you've said above) made you around $1.5million in the last 20 years. You could cash out at any point but you still live in that suburb, and whilst you say you may not pay 1.5-2 million to live there are you going to let someone give you 1.5-2million to leave? This isn't a personal attack on you, just a different take on the market.
  21. I'm having my Q7 V8 TDI re mapped at torque performance for the same sort of money as the evolve tune (or other tunes I could find overseas) and it comes with before/after dynos, and a bit of peace of mind that it's running safe. Might be worth a chat with Robin before spending the money on the evolve setup.
  22. It didn't sell because the motor had a knock. And the rod bearings failed soon after it was sold.http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/50544-s62-wanted/
  23. I offered $18k before i realised it wasn't a genuine chassis. He was interested. It's not bad buying at that.
  24. You would be mad to reshell it in my mind.
