Genuine Towbar - is there and how to fit?

E39 525i - I thought of dealers but I gather they will be pricey. Will E34 bolt on to E39? I have seen one with tow kit from factory and there is a Towing electronic box next to the spare wheel - I presume this is what you need to get "check trailer tail lights" etc on the dash. Thecar also has PDC - if you go aftermarket is there a way of overriding this without beep beep when you reversing? -
We need to tow a skidoo - the tourer has no towbar and my question is is there a retrofit kit (tow bar, electronics, wiring etc to tap into the check control module blah blah) There is a kit on realoem and also I believe Pelican Parts in the USA sell it. Has anyone done something like this - available in NZ? Cheers

I need a new boot to accomodate a Euro plate that needs to go on a Jap Import. I believe to panel beat the plate area to make it wider is a waste of time/$$$? There are no differences right with boots whether its from a 520, 523....right? Doesnt matter what colour as its going to be primed and painted any way. Let me know - PM or text 0210466688 Thanks everyone Adrian

Good photography here...bottle of V while pumping gas http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-203924282.htm

Now I would like to see a BMW like this ... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-250519858.htm

I have noticed the unrestricted flow is making the rear OEM muffler / silencer rattle quite bad. I need a new exhaust to cope with the quicker flow of exhaust now? Are there Remus boxes somewhere I heard for $500?
-
Guys - I have taken the cats out and replaced them with Coby resonators. There is no difference with sound or performance - is that normal?? It is however - better with gas - Im getting 26MPG around town!!

Steering wheel from a 1998 E38 740i. Telephone, radio, cruise etc on on wheel. Single stage airbag All works 100% Fits all E38/E39 before 11/98 and E46's etc. Looking for $180 but happy for offers http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=248677479

For better HP gain am I better to: (in place of the OEM cats) 1. Resonator 2. High Flow Cat 3. Straight pipe Keeping in mind there will be the Y resonator, stock muffler/silencer for back pressure.
-
If I just straight pipe it will it be too loud / droney? It will still have the OEM Y resonator, muffler/silencer at back in place.
-
Thanks Glenn, just what I was looking for - its a 96 740 with Pre Cats only, Cats are ratting like marbles
-
I want to know if there is a law around Cats - Can you remove them or not? I have heard that vehicles manufactured after 2000 need to meet EU2 or something... I searched LTNZ and cannot find anything, Testing stations say "cut them out" its ok. Does anyone know, or is this another thing like our German plates where only 1 in 10 cops will fine you for it....
-
Sorry guys, forgot the main part It was the exhaust - the mount is lose and also the damper (AARRGGGH) All that f**king around, I am now sleeping on the couch for a week.
-
Problem solved....Finally
-
Thanks for the replays guys - the shaking only happens when I have the foot off he gas and idle, as soon as I put my foot on the gas it goes. I had a look under the car and the exhaust shakes the same way?? Today - been into McMillan to have it looked at: Scanned - no faults Fuel Filter added - no difference Fan Coupling / Clutch replaced (it was lose) Could one of my cats be plugged? If a cylinder is out it would be alot worse wouldnt it?
-
Ok, picked the car up from McMillan his morning feeling great because it now has new Engine Mounts (Corteco) and tranny mounts (Lemforder) DME reprogrammed, idle up to wher it should be. I do how ever now have a fan / clutch that has alot of play - next job. I still have a vibration when I am at a red light in Drive or slip it into reverse. WTF!!!??? What else can be causing the shaking?? Oil service has been done, PCV, intake gaskets, spark plugs, ignition coils. Help!!
-
I know this topic has been around before - what does everyone here reco. for a smooth, deep sound for a 540i E39? Remus would be nice but way too much, nothing too raspy either like theres a hole in the muffler etc. Is there anything locally (NZ) that is good or do I have to go to Europe/USA?
-
How long does it take to do this job on a M62? Remove / replace both engine mounts and as well as the tranny ones

E39 - Full MID with phone Why does the MID on CD swicth to radio quite often and on its own???? This is annoying
