    M325i vs SR20DET.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's a terrible video. Will make a better one over summer. Mmmmm wet tar.
  2. Spotted 'Qik M3' on Tory St here in Welly just before. Nice.

    M325i vs SR20DET.

I was running approx 3deg on the front, and I lowered the rear right down which gives about 2. Still not enough for flexy road tires. Will invest in some shorter springs for the kit for track use one day. 225's would be dreamy Oh, and some people need to learn to use the sarcasm font, sheesh. I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out when you are taking the piss out of me and making my feelings hurt Can you see the rain steaming up the windscreen? It gets a little unstable at the rear when hitting the brakes at 200 in the rain eh. I could have locked my elbows and squirmed back and forth across the road, but decided to keep it in a straight line

Oh the summit vid, search youtube for 'e30 summit rd run' and go straight to 1min30secs.

    M325i vs SR20DET.

Well Mr Neale said it was right on target for mega speed through there while he was in the car with me, and that was at the start of the day with an indicated 120kph. And I'm very happy with the Michelins, look how awesome they went compared to the dunlops haaa, did so well out there. I wouldn't waste time with another brand or model of road tire for track use, would head straight to a R888 or some slicks like ol' Rileys And E30 speedos aren't nearly as bad as yamaha tachos ahaa.
  6. M8, it was a Ssgayline, or am I not aware of the 2 door primera with wheel arch flares and a boxy rear end?
  7. Peroni. Laphroaig. Michelins. Logitec G5. Fresh Air.

    M325i vs SR20DET.

Well, finally got the set up to the track. Spent the first hour playing with the shock adjusters and have now dialed the car in perfectly. With smooth throttle control it will neither understeer nor oversteer, all 4 wheels let go together. The tires on the front are a bit better than the rubber on the back (effectively 195 direzzas vs 205 pilot precedas) so will have to redial it when I get 2 more pilots. And when really pushing the car, over steer will happen on corner entry, and pure grip with a nice understeer push to the rumble strips on exit. Mid corner is very well balanced, especially without passengers haha (only did 2 stints by myself) I lowered the car right down at the front and not quite all the way at the back, but an hour into the day the rear tires were falling to bits on the outer edge, so I lowered it right down to get better camber. Still not enough though, even at the front (see outside edge melted michelin photo), I blame 14inch wheels on the back and rolling tires. The fronts would be sweet once I get the bigger sway bars. The camber would be perfect with stiff semislicks or 17 inch wheels. But who the hell wants 17's on a e30?! Semislicks it is Andy Neale said to everyone at the start a goal for the day would be to get through the fast left hander before the hairpin at 130kph (he was talking to guys with 255+'s and 400+hp), I got through at 140 consistantly when alone in the car (lighter) so I'm fully actually wickedly stoked with this car, it's amazing for it's age. The GC kit is quite the business. And the driving training is going well I must add *forgot pics ha
  9. Mine always hisses from under the dash, thought it was normal ahaa. Maybe the booster is shot, The pedal requires a very decent effort to stop...
  10. JUST SAW THE LIST ON 3 NEWS AND IT HAD A PICTURE OF A R34 BESIDE 'NISSIAN SILVIA' OMG LOL SO FUNNY
  11. That's the car I keep seeing in Burnside. Saw it at dusk recently and it didn't have the angel eyes. Looks really good on the road though
  12. What's with the AC Schnitzer badge? That's the kind of crap you put on a 318i. BUT, WICKED CAR DO WANT
  13. The M3, M325i's and I think the 'verts came with the 14.5mm bar. The rest are 12mm. Here's a good chart to look at if you are intending on upgrading. A lot of other factors come into play though then just thickness. Such as the movement ratio, material of bar, design etc. http://www.selbys.com.au/docs/products/ConversionChart.pdf
  14. On good road tires and stock E30 sway bars you won't be lifting any inside wheels. I've tried haha. Springs are the way to balance handling for sure. Big thick sways can take feel away from the car, and make it have less traction on a bumpy road, big bars are great for the track however. I guess your car doesn't have a rear sway? If you put one in you would add a nice dose of oversteer to the handling. Fun
  15. Would love it. But I know it'd get rooted during shipping. Rooted like a 200 year old Oak
  16. Well that would tear anyone up, very surprised to hear of this decision, but if you have to.. Isn't it fun getting old! I let my good friend drive my car for a few corners on the Summit Rd yesterday, it is bloody terrifying being a passenger going well into oversteer on a cliff road in your own car.
  17. Almost all of the time a AFM goes bad, the contacts are worn out on the inside. What you can do is crack the top cover and bend the 2 contact arms down so they are on a different track and have more pressure on the board. I've done it to both of my E30's and there is a noticable difference in fuel use and maybe some torque haha.
  18. There's a Black E36 M3 I keep seeing around my area. Just saw it 20mins ago on Clyde Rd.

    PS3 Games, from $35

Saving up for GT5? I'll be purchasing a PS3 when that comes out, hope it has all the M3s in it
  20. Ultra Too Few Zeros Typo Fail ha. He should have asked for it to be withdrawn...!
  21. I was going to spend a day with a file, pushing and pulling away, working on the arm stamina. But an angle grider would make quick, short, messy work of it. No one would see the hack job anyway, they'd all be getting wet over the clear tails.
  22. No one must have seen haha. Do like. It has quite the front rake now, looks cool! I have a SLR and artsy photograph experience, we could maybe do a Tech1 vs Tech2 style shot even.
  23. Yeah it does, but the first 10 laps were damn exciting with all the overtaking. Once again Sutil had the pace to take down Kimi, but his KERS kept him out of reach. And Hamilton, poor guy, they said the 2 stop strategy was just as fast as a 1 stopper in the simulator, but it didn't quite work out, quite tense really.
  24. A beautiful illusion created by lowering a car to the ground. Lowering the centre of gravity certainly helps a car turn, mainly by reducing weight transfer. But in a E30, especially, it completely ruins the geometry and any benefit you get from lowering it is gone due to the rear tires only half sitting on the road, and getting no camber gain on the front wheels when the suspension compresses during cornering, not to mention the roll centres being in the ground making the car actually roll more when lowered lots, that's the biggest issue really. It may feel great hitting up a smooth right turn at a traffic light, but throw a bump into the mix and it'll be a loose machine. But hey, a dumped car can be made to look really good, but it's only useful for boring ass city driving. If you want to do it like a pro you could modify all the suspension pick up points on the car to be 3 inches higher and still have great geometry and ultra lownessness. Read Gustave for a nice technical explaination
