Are you sure that sound is not just the power steering telling you that you are reaching the end of your steering rack?

Thats awesome. Nice to know something works!

Haha thats a bloody solid ad, love it! Reminds me of this, I read it in the paper yesterday morning: Cracked me up. Good on the Aussies I reckon, have got the right idea. Peer pressure is an excellent motivator, just ask anyone that smokes. Reminds me of about four months ago when I saw a couple of guys in a 1990's Starlet watching a couple of girls in short skirts cross the road in front of them. The guys were waiting at a red light and as soon as it hit green, they revved her up and dropped the clutch to achieve a four second FRONT wheel spin, only to ram into the back of a SUV which had stopped because of the traffic jam in front of them. Bloody hilarious, the girls cracked up laughing and started yelling words that shouldn't really come out a lady's mouth towards the guys who looked and I bet felt like complete pillocks. Damage to the SUV was nil, damage to the front of the Starlet was they pushed it off the road.

So tough. Best CGI ever, the way those transformers moved so fluidly, damn! Sits pretty close to 300 for me as the best movie so far this year. Btw Oceans Thirteen - shitloads better than the second, nearly as good as the first.

I haven't touched RSS so far, but if there was one for bimmersport I would.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...5836270.htm?p=2 I realise its probably bs, but what do you think? Is it just a resistor or whatever like the other crap off ebay? Those promised gains don't look so bad. Cheers

Dunno if its been posted before, came across it today and thought it was pretty cool. BMW 1-Series Kermit the Frog Advertisement Looks like more fun than a new Golf to me. Actually I think old Clarkson said that a few months ago on TopGear. What do you guys reckon: Golf or 1 Series?

Apparently on the newer e36 like mine, the Jatco computer tries to be all tricky like and remember your driving style. So if you drive like a granny, it will "learn" this and next time you slow down to a stop, it will stay in second gear. Apparently, sometimes this "learning" bullshit goes a bit haywire. My problem was exactly as ozzy described, feels a lot like the gearbox is confused about 1st and 2nd. There was even a short period where if I put the pedal to the metal, it would go past the usual rev limit, scared me a bit. I hadn't heard about this software flashing stuff, doubt it would be worth it. People have just come to accept that auto e36's have a rough 1st - 2nd when cold. Its a fairly minor flaw, unless you happen to be one of those sad buggers who commutes through Auckland everyday.

Sounds exactly like my old problem! See my thread http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....mp;#entry115372 I took it to Aceoautomatics in Christchurch and they charged me $90 to reset the auto computer. After that I took it out for a bloody good thrash and it was away laughing. Now its as smooth as when it came out of the factory

Can be easily found on emule. Don't think there is a torrent.

Just out of curiosity, whats your name and what car did you drift?

97 BMW 320i Auto I run BP Premium 98 Octane - its the only 98 Octane in the South Island I believe. I get around 450k a tank round town, 650k traveling. - I think thats right, its been a while since I've checked. 65L tank I think. I figure $3.25 extra a tank over 95 is peanuts. 91 Octane feels noticeably sluggish. Watch this site for prices if you care http://www.pricewatch.co.nz/

I second that. Works for me. Just make sure you get the right size.

I'm in need of some bonnet struts for my e36 too. Don't suppose anyone else has a second hand set lying around?

When the name is released could someone please post it here.

Firefox definitely, and iTunes I'm fairly certain of. Has services constantly running, hogging memory. The point of them is to speed up the recognition of the iPod when you first plug it in, and to speed up the loading of iTunes. Problem is for the most part you are not using your computer primarily for your iPod so these services just drain your performance. Exactly. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You'll just end up forking out the full bill for a new copy of Vista later down the track.

I went to aceoautomatics on Thursday. They took it for a road test and saw the problem. They then reset the auto computer so it would re-learn or something. Apparently this is a thing that happens occasionally. And now its all good. Cost $90 ($45 labour + $50 tool). Thanks for your guys help. Cheers

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8ghz - It will easily reach 3.2ghz on stock cooling, aftermarket - 3.5ghz. Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 - Highly overclockable - very cheap and feature rich - only thing its missing is sli. 2GB of DDR800 RAM - need that 800 headroom for o/c Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB - Performs to similar spec as the 8800GTX (the most powerful card on the market) at lower resolutions such as 1280x1024 which you will most likely be running if you have a 19" LCD. And you'll have a fair bit of dosh to spare.

Angel eyes do not give better light. They are purely aesthetic.

Yeah tis. The little things you don't find out about a car until after you own it huh. Cheers mate

I have a kinda similar problem. Mine hardly works as well, have to hold it real close to car and wave it around alot, even though I replaced batteries. Does anyone know how to fix shitty reception for these things? Dunno bout the not working at all part though.
-
What you are describing is what they all do mate. It should be really bad when cold, but when it warms up a bit it should get a fair bit smoother. My problem is a bit more scary I'm afraid. Brent HARTGE535i - I have the car booked in to aceoautomatics for Thursday, dependant on what they tell me, I could be keen. Cheers

No light on dash, so I'm going to guess it ain't electrical. No oil leak. It is the jatco box so it has always been a bit sharp when cold, but now it is really bad and tends to be shite regardless of temperature. How much would you be wanting for this box and would it be all good to bolt up to the m52 1997 320i? And is it a big job? I've worked on nissans a fair bit, engine and trans wise, but never anything this new. Could I diy it without too much trouble? I firstly took it to the independent bmw guys on brisbane st, near sydenham. Guy took it for a road test and told me not to worry about it unless it gets significantly worse. Wasn't so keen on that idea so went to aceoautomatics for a second opinion. I took it to them on friday. Guy took it for a road test and said yeah there was a problem, wants to take it apart on Thursday and see if rebuild is required. Seems bloody odd to me that it only does it in first - second gear change. It just sits there, like if I wanted to replicate it in a car with a mint auto box, put it in drive, hit say 3500rpm, remove foot almost all the way from gas, put box in neutral for one second so it revs a bit, then put back in drive so it changes to second (softly(ish)). Its just bloody weird. At the moment I am driving in "winter" mode on the box, to avoid that first gear. Cheers for the help guys.

The auto box in my e36 320i is screwing with me. I know they all have a sharp cold first to second change, but mine is now holding that first. It kinda tries to change into second but holds itself in no-gear-land for a few seconds, then drops into second. It used to be a mint gearbox a few days ago, now all of sudden its doing this. Where is somewhere cheap that I can take it to get looked at in Christchurch? Or are there any diy jobs I can do to fix this? Or is there someone on here in Christchurch that knows a bit about slushboxes that could come check it out? Doesn't seem right to me that it was fine a week ago, and suddenly, without me actually doing anything to it, its not. Cheers

Could someone PLEASE point me out where the Intake Air Temperature Sensor is on my 1997 320i? Is it inside the Air Flow Meter? If someone could, photos would help. Cheers, walker
