Nah that just clips in and holds up the hoses. Possible they had the cowling it clips into off to check back/top of motor.

Our State Highways are too busy to remain single lane country roads. But here we are. For the foreseeable future. It took over 10 years to double lane Bombay to Hamiltron.

I would argue a little understeer (which I have never experienced in this car, even at the track in the wet) is better than a little oversteer in a vehicle with an open diff.
At the track I would prefer oversteer. On the road, understeer.- 1

Is it just the picture or are the headlights cloudy?
No they are. Going to replace the lens'. Surprisingly cheap.

I took it to Eurosurgeon and I didn't have the best experience. I had to hound them to get any info, never spoke to anyone who worked on it just the receptionist gave me a vague recap from the mechanic and then a couple months later after hounding I get this estimate. I am trying to be understanding with the disruptions from covid etc might just be a rough time. Anyone had good experiences with them or recommend someone else to try out west or west central? After the initial experience I'm a little cautious about taking the car in for work. Maybe its just a struggle at all mechanics at the moment?
As said, everything on that list is DIY. And you are likely to save a couple of thousand.
FCP Euro does kits for nearly all of that stuff. Comes with the bolts, gaskets, bushes etc etc.Otherwise also as previously mentioned, I would go and see Peter and Graham at P&S Auto. Raced with them for years. It is BMW race car central.

Swapped to Atturo AZ850s for less than half the price of PS4S and they are just what I need. They aren't as grippy at all, but have enough grip and are comfortable. Won't be 130i sizes though as they're meant for big rigs.
My BMW is running LK03 and they are great, even better considering the price. Good all round grip, quiet and comfortable. As mentioned the only downside is they appear to be wearing quite quickly.
I'm finding you actively have to search out the cheapest, shittest, tyre to have a bad time these days. Even some of the Chinese tyres are decent now.
I wasn't sure if it was just the harsh roads. But if they are wearing fast on the F10 in the Tron they could be just a fast wearing tyre. But yeah 20K less than the Eurovis.

sweet I think that's what I will go for.
Do most people run this setup: 225/40 R18 #255/35 R18?
That is what I am running. I put 235's on the front once. They looked weird.

I think so yeah. We paid a bit of money for them. And were hoping for good things. Actually I think I still have one. Will grab a pic. They are made in Thailand or something which was a surprise.

Yup it is.

The Laufenns (Hankook) that I have run for the last year were okay. However they only lasted 25,000kms on the shitty NZ rural roads. I was quite surprised.
The previous cheap Roadstone Eurovis Sport 04 lasted nearly 40,000kms on the same roads. I also abused them at the track and the Mrs did some 1 mile high speed sprints on them. For a commuter or a city car I would highly recommend them. Korean made just like the Laufenns.
Both are cheap through Hyperdrive.co.nz which has it's normal 40% off Briscoes style discount going at the moment.
We have RE003's on our 200sx. Great in the dry. Terrible in the wet. Quite a few reviews state the same for these tyres. Probably fine for a commuter.
Though they are far better than the previous Eagle F1's we had on it. Which were a total laugh on the track in the wet. Zero grip from near new tyres. Great training for the Wife learning to control the car sideways. Even worse once they are a few years old. I think these were made in a different factory to the older ones.
I picked up a set of Dunlop Direzza Dz102's to replace the RE003's. Yet to be fitted.
I have Bridgestone RE002's on the AMG. Also great in the dry but they also light up like they are bald in the wet just like the RE003's.- 1

BMW Design Team: Hey Robert! We're all leaving for the beer hall. You coming?
Designer: I just have to finish the back quarters of this M3 Touring!
BMW Design Team: Hurry up.
Designer: Ahhhh that will do, I'm thirsty.- 1

Not sure Alpina is doing anything at the moment.
Purchased by BMW now. Full integration by 2025. May end up just another trim package.

Why would it trigger purists? It doesn't exist.

The surface is good now. But the huge increase in logging trucks and commuter traffic has slowed the trip down significantly.
And at night you need to dodge rock falls, Goats and Ford Rangers.
-
A little heat should help too. Small gas torch to heat up and expand the bolt. Be very careful though. Make sure there is nothing that can melt or catch fire.
If does look to be at that point where you take the head off the bolt, remove the oil filter housing. Then heat the remainder of the bolt and get something to grip the shaft of the bolt better.

I think the biggest loss here is your time. Driving to New Market from SE Auckland. Ouch.

POR15
in Appearance

What are people using similar to these products?
Hammerite. My Daihatsu Rocky was quite bad. I painted pretty much the entire floor of the vehicle with it.
It's since seen much off roading, beaches, and submersion in rivers with no further rust or issues. Got it from Mitre 10 when I had no other options.
Used a brush to paint it on. Went in quite thick and there are minimal brush marks.- 1

2 hours ago, Glacial Pace said:An LSD is one of the few mods that I would be keen to have.
Yeah I would factor one into your price. They are not a cheap item for these cars though.
It will give you much more confidence in the control of the vehicle in the corners or during a intended or unintended slide. -
Installing an LSD should be the very first thing you do to a 135i.
It is a must have for any car you want to find the limits of.
A manual without an LSD IMO is pointless for such a nimble little car. -
That car was listed for $18k ono when it was in Carterton a few years back. We were going to check it out but it sold. It sat on the market for quite a while.
We stopped looking for a 135 when the prices started heading back into the mid 20's. My wife loves the shape. But can't justify 3 x the price we got our 130 for. -

Admittedly the road was in the process of being closed due to heavy wind but easy for rocks to end up in your path.
It's a terrible road. Not one bit of it I enjoy.
Car groups love "Cruising" over it for some reason. What would you like to be stuck behind that won't pull over? Endless options.

Looks like it will tell me about any codes etc.
But mostly just a data collection tool.

3 hours ago, Choo said:Oh man. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Glad you got back safely despite the long wait. This reminds me of January, but unlike you, I was unable to swerve in time.....
It's a pain because I know the hill is like that and had warned a workmate early in the week. The wife even said watch for rocks.
This time I had nowhere to go though but through the small stuff.
Another surprise was how quickly my tyres have worn. Around 20,000kms and they were only a few mm off the wear indicators. -
Spent 2hrs 45mins sitting at the Remutaka Summit on Sat night in the 130i.
Ran over a fresh rock fall on the way up heading to Wellington. A swerve saved me from serious underbody damage. But ran over some of the small stuff.
A piece of it went straight though the bottom of the tyre and destroyed it.
Not that it would have saved me. But the can of air and seal failed and would not discharge.Lots of break downs meant I had to wait the 2hrs 45mins to get rescued 15mins from my house.
And the tyre size I need is no longer available. So now I have mismatched front and rear which annoys me.

It's on top. 4 screws. You don't need to take it off.
