They are Hamilton based. They tow cars on car trailers with it.

Seems odd.  But if you have seen I will believe you.
I'm out of touch with what BMW dealer is where sorry.  BMW doesn't exist after about 2015 for me.

Nothing to do with the fact that a pallet of parts from the warehouse will fit in the tray, and not in a Touring though...

I guess the couriers must cost so much these days they employ someone to do it themselves.

I hate modern utes with great passion.  They look like sh*t, ride like sh*t and are driven like sh*t.  Yet that opinion clearly isn't shared with the majority as they plague our roads.

  2. I've just had a large part of my E55 resprayed by a friend who runs a panel shop.  It is black.  It was very difficult to match the paint.  If they had gone by the code it would not have looked good at all.  It took a bit of effort to get the hood which is alloy to match the bumper which is plastic (they meet in a number of spots on an E55).  The painter can still see a mismatch but I can't anymore.

    This one… IMG_0413.jpeg

It’s the parts & service dept work truck, because BMW don’t do utes, unlike some other “premium” car manufacturers.

Doesn't compute. BMW makes a wagon. More space. Secure. Not a Ranger Danger. Zero need for a ute just like most Ranger owners.

Buys honest low owner M3 EVO with non collectable millage.

    Spends 100k restoring it.

Once completed, takes it out because it hasn't rained for a couple of days, but cant go too far because it might get dirty.. pulls up at the lights and gets dragged off by a Nissan Leaf.. so goes to pub and no one thinks anything of it there either.. questions fiscal decisions.

Puts on trade-me for near the price of a decent Porsche that's actually fast and actually impressive.

Must be an audience for these though, I say GLWS and I will look out for it on the road.

I think you could expand this scenario to all E30's.

No pics but the tanzanite blue M3 Touring at Continental BMW looks lovely. Also spotted a German plated estate on SH2 in full prototype camo - first two letters of plate were HN so speculating it might be the new Audi A4 B10 Avant

Saw a bunch of them outside of Featherston on the weekend.

  6. It does indeed sound like a bleeding issue.  They can be a pain to bleed.  Especially if you have changed the heater core.  Have you tried priming the heater core?  Disconnect the hoses and jam the garden hose into it.  Run water through it while slightly restricting the outlet so it builds a little pressure.  I've done this to a couple of cars.

If you have an airlock the thermostat may never open.

If you suspect the heater core is still the problem you can join the two hoses bypassing it.  Test to see if it is still occurring.

Also have you replaced the viscous fan clutch?  If not you should.

Pricing is weird in NZ, we are in a jap import fueled bubble. We are at roughly 50% the price of the average 130 world wide....

With the rate they end up the wreckers due the current price point and the unwashed masses that buy them, the bubble will burst soon when suddenly everyone realizes there are none left. Reality is they are a rare car internationally.

Same thing goes for 135s/335s etc, people are struggling to give them away at the moment. MUCH higher production numbers than 130s.. its probably due to reliability/age of them now.

Just about every E87 I see has been abused.  Just like the E36's and E46's of years gone.  Soon it will be just the loved ones left and the price may go back up.

Or they will be forced off the market by a government acting like we are as rich as Norway.  Why aren't you all buying 100K Tesla's yet guys?  Can I interest you in this absolutely f**ked fresh import Leaf with a range of 55kms?

  8. FYI.  Be very careful with exhaust volume.
At the Police Officers discretion they can Pink Sticker your car for excessive noise.
If this occurs you will be required to undergo an official noise test.  Once completed you are then required to certify your exhaust.  Even if you do all this you are still at the mercy of the Police Officers discretion in the future.  They are not bound by your new cert at all and require no proof.

Was recently reading a story in a unofficial certification help page of someone who just went through all this.  Even changing back to a stock exhaust did not help and they still needed to follow the process to remove the green sticker.  Cops are using it in a way to temporarily get vehicles off the road loud or not.

  9. Is there a mod or way to replace the breather/oil separator on LCI 130i's without having to replace the entire cover?
Mine is blocked and causing oil leaks.

Found it.  For an N55 but the same process.
    https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1758775

What a stupid f'n design.  A part that has failed on every model of BMW since its introduction.  Suddenly they integrate it into the rocker cover...

Edit:  Seems like the mod never works.  Stoked about chucking away $500 to fix what is a $30 problem on an E46.

Thanks to all the info that shared by people on this forum ( fingers crossed) the shudder in my 130i has been fixed without going down the route of "red herring" etc.

Symptoms were; no issues when engine cold but once engine warm, then under light load (and say 1750 rpm moving to 2000rpm i.e. -going from say 80km - 100km I would get a shudder as the gear box changed up ( but totally of if using the sports mode with higher revs).

Transmission (GM) has been serviced and so-far the shudder gone

Mine was behaving in a similar way.
Did you take notice of how much fluid came out?
Fingers crossed you have stopped it.

  11. You could DIY these no problem.  There is nothing difficult about it other than getting the car up on jack stands.
But make sure you know the filling process for the gearbox.  It is not as simple as filling it to the fill plug.

Get a kit from somewhere like fcpeuro.
    https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/128i/Transmission/?year=2008&m=20&e=2053&t=5&b=9&d=829&v=

But with NZ's currently very poor exchange rate you would only be saving $350.

  12. I came across a classic vehicle review of a E34 535i Sport in Ireland.  He mentions their NCT (WOF) can be exempt for immaculately kept classics.
I looked into it a little more and it is for any vehicle over 40years old.  It means they only require a check every two years.
    https://www.irishvintagescene.ie/new-nct-legislation/

Wouldn't this be great for NZ.  An extended WOF for classics meaning no more 6 monthly waste of time and money as long as your car is not a pile of junk.
As our Rego/WOF/RUC system looks to go digital these sort of categories could easily be added at the same time.
