  1. BMW series cars, V8 Super-cars and a lot of other race series cars use King Springs, they are not all bad.

OP. Depends on what you want really.

If its just lowering just throw some whatever brand springs in.

Completely different springs Graeme to what you buy for yuor road car with the exception of the E30 series springs :)

I agree with your last comment though... springs don't affect ride quality it is the shock performance that does this :)

  2. Hey there Johno,

The cars actually the E36 model, and if you were right about the tyre being too tall it still brings to question regards one side sitting lower in the rear, and if you jack the rear up, when you lower it on the ground it will sit evenly and higher for a while, then slower over time sag back to normal....

    Hi

without anyone actually looking at the car it is really hard to diagnose exactly what the problem is. Are you able to bring it in for us to have a look at? During the week would be preferable, cheers.

  3. hey Melons,

Im also having exactly the same issue as you, with my rear tyres rubbing when i have people in the back or hit a rather mediocre bump in the the road. I was thinking at first that it was my tyre issues but after doing some research found that everything was stock standard on my car, which has me thinking down the line of ever worn shocks or springs starting to sag.... as it is really noticeable now after half a year that the rear is lowering itself... i can no longer see the top of my right rear tyre where as i can on my left rear, and yes before anyone asks, the car was parked on flat level ground when i checked.

Anyways I'm interested in hearing how you get on with your solution to the problem and how much it costs,

Does anyone know of any places they would recommend regards getting this sorted... and if someones done it in the past how much roughly did you pay? i dont really know what a good rate is to pay for getting suspension fixed... i just want my car to look normal again.

    Hi Craig

I have replied to you in your other post as well. Pop in and see us and we will have a look at it for you. we are in Penrose

    cheers

    Johno

  4. <_< Erm... woops yeah it's been a long day haha, i just checked 255x45x17 on the rear, 225x45x17 on the front...

yeah i was thinking of doing both while they were at it, but i dont know of any good places, or of a good price of what should be paid for the job done.... i've been foolish and rushed into decisions in the past and paid way too much for crap i shouldnt of....

    Hi Craig

Welcome to the forums, there are a heap of knowledgable people on here that can help you out. Your car (assuming it is an E46) should have 245/40/17's at the rear and 225/45/17's at the front as the factory sizes. If it has a 255/45/17 on the rear, it means that the tyre is too tall and this is what will be causing the issue in the rear when you have mates in it. We are in Penrose, you are welcome to pop in and see us and we can have a look at the car for you and advise your best course of action

    cheers

    Johno

  5. They go on but as soon as you drive they are all over the place wobbling like crazy. Is there a way to make these fit on my car. Can I make the bore bigger or change my hubs to E38s?

I am not driving on them, I just put them like that to show what they look like. Thanks for the offer by the way but I am just going to get my money back on them.

ok, good, just in your previous post you stated that they were wobbling when you drove on them :)

Good luck in getting your Money back :)

  6. The torque delivery is determined primarily in the headers not in the mid and tail sections.

What DOES happen in the mid and tail sections is interference from changes in resistance along the pipe and that comes from cats / straight through, other muffler types changes in pipe diameter and sharp bends.

Reducing the pipe size gives a perception of increased torque because it masks the interference and reduces maximum power.

A properly designed system with the correctly graded resistance providing the minimum practical flow resistance whilst maintaining good velocity in the headers and consistent extraction will give more torque and more maximum power.

If the cats are too restrictive then they are not macthed to the flow - change them so they do

Straight through perforated type mufflers also add a restriction because the cause turbulence at the tube face which reduces the effective diameter.

Current exhaust theory works very much on well proven Transmission line principles to effectively eliminate reverse pressure waves (reflections).

    and in laymans terms???

  7. That is their Taranaki branch although I'm sure if you wanted them Jono would be able to get them.

    very true

true coz my bro wants to make his 05 mazda 3 look abit better with rims and a drop.

maybe something like this? The car is actually bright red but for some reason kept photo'ing orange!
