  1. . . .

Personally I dont know why you dont buy a run of the mill hilux for the weekend away stuff and towing. And get yourself the car you've always been wanting for everything else.

That way you dont have to worry about resale and compromise.

Finally some common sense... and you can't kill a Hilux/Surf/Prado :)

  2. You buy the Toyota oh i mean Lexus for this much or you buy the Toyota oops again i mean Lexus with a "free service plan for this much.

    Exactly

Sure... but I bet it still works out cheaper, and less hassle than a comparable BMW ;) ( waits for smart ass replies)

Also, name another manufacturer that includes parts in their service plan :P

  3. Maybe I should try these rings to. My car has had this same sort of issue ever since day 1. I had all tyres done, balanced and wheel alignment, driveshaft and bearings etc replaced, and various suspension parts done. All of which made no difference. Sorry for my ignorance, but is there anyway to tell wether my wheels need them or not? Its an E36 320 with 17" M3 replica rims on it. The problem sounds exactly like this one stated in the thread.

There are a lot of "wheel importers" out there that don't specify the correct CB when they get wheels. I would say your wheels will either be a 73.2 or 74.1 CB. If the are 74.1 it is just a matter of fitting locating rings. If they are 73.2 you will have to get the wheels machined out to 74 and then retrofit locating rings, as you can't make rings that are .5mm thick. As mentioned above, take a wheel off and measure the centre.

I am actually surprised that the guys who did the tyres didn't pick up on it straight away. :)

  4. Jase

I have Toyo C1S as recommended by Jono on my E39. Nothing barge like whatsoever so makes me wonder what 3pedals was driving when he tested them ....

    Mike

Don't worry about 3pedals.. he is just pushing his Bridgestone/Pirelli wheelbarrow.. it makes me wonder if he has a vested interest in them ... After all he is NZ's pre-eminent tyre tester

Jase did ask for a daily tyre... not an out and out performance tyre. I garnered from that, that he he would want something that would last a reasonable amount of time, be quiet and offer good grip levels.. hence the recommendation of the C1S.

  5. Shortly (some time in the next six months) I want to put new feet on the car. Now i know absolutely nothing about tyres so any help would be grateful. It still has the same feet on it when I bought it which are dragon 225/45 zr 17 91w. I am looking at something middle of the road really as it is my daily driver but I have been know on odd occasions to push the pedal heavily when on a trip so something with a bit of grip to would be great.

Also take a look at the Toyo C1S. It has been designed for European vehicles and we have been selling a lot, putting them on everything from an E55 AMG Merc through to a Mini. It suits what you are looking for perfectly as it is nice and quiet, offers great grip levels and tens to wear very well.

Just remeber when you looking for prices now, they probably will not be the same in 6 months time as stock levels decrease and replensihed pricing changes. You wil probably also find they may be more expensive in 6 months time as raw materials are increasing dramatically at the moment. :)

Personally, I think they are a better tyre than the RE001.

  6. Hi Guys

Have been having a bit of trouble trying to figure out why my e28 525e starts to wobble between 90km-100km.

I have had the wheels aligned and balanced and had all the bushing and control arms checked at the front and everything seems to be perfect

when I get the car just above 90km it starts to shake quite badly, then it will go away and then comes back again intermittently.

I'm starting to think either drive shaft bearing, wheel bearing or warped rotors, or even the drive train out of alignment.

Any help would be great!! :D

    Cheers

    Are the wheels hubcentric?

  7. Hi everyone

I hope you all had a great Xmas and a fantastic New Year, and that you didn't over indulge too much!

Thanks to everyone on here for their support last year. Out of interest we set up an account for Bimmersport member's so we could track how much we sold and wouldn't you know it - you guys came out on top! As a group, you were our biggest "account" for the calendar year!!

We are all back on board now ready for bigger and brighter things in 2011.

We have quite a few new wheels due to turn up very soon, so keep an eye out for some great new styles. I will post them up as soon as they arrive. We have also landed a great range of touring tyres in UHP sizes which are very well priced and offer exceptional value for money. These have been advertised in the sponsors sectuion of the forum.

Once again, thanks for all your support, and I look forward to it continuing through out this year!

  8. Run Flat rims are different to normal rims however a run flat rim will accept a standard tyre. If you do decide to change, just make sure you get a can of tyre repair (Slime, Pando or similar) to put in the boot in case you get a puncture :)

  9. i wonder how much they would be worth over here , those would look nice with a bmw roundel. Zenetti what did you charge when you used to sell these wheels?

    cheers

I just tried to check to see when we sold them. We switched to a new system over 3 years ago and they are not showing up on it. So, we must have sold them at least 3 years ago, probably closer to 4. I would say back then, they would have been sold for around $1k wheels only. Ours were not chrome, they were hyper silver (shadow chrome) with a machined lip :)

  10. I have some 16x8 wheels coming with an offset of 20. These are going on a prefl e30 with lowered springs and 51mm struts - its not dragging on the ground low...!

Question is who's run what size tyres on wheels of the same or similar spec?

How wide can i go in the front and rear without arch work?

Probably looking at a staggered set up along the lines of 205x50x16 front adn 225x45x16 rear....

    Opinions??

They are the correct plus sizes to go to from OE spec. When we had our 16's in stock we generally ran a 7" at the front and 8" at the rear. we didn't seem to have any issues with guard rubbing. I think you may have to give your guards a light rolling at the front but the back should be ok. Perhaps other members will be able to correct me if I am wrong :)

  11. Thanks all for your kind words of welcome. i definitely am feeling much love here :D

Ive seen a set of nice wheels and they are 19" but not sure what width. ET is 20. And also there is this info on it 19x91/2JJ. What does this mean? All the wheels have 275 x 30 low profile tires on them.

Any advise as to if these are suitable for the E34 and if it will compromise the handling in anyway and also if its too wide?

Appreciate all your comments and learning alot. Thanks.

As Lucan said the 19x91/2jj is the diameter and width of the wheel. It is a 19 x 9.5". To be honest I think you will struggle to fit a 9.5" wide rim under the front of an E34 and on 275's it will probably tramline and steer horribly all over the place.

You can run E39 wheels on an E34 but you will need hubcentric or locating rings. We have them availabel if you need

    cheers
