  1. Hi Andrew

what offset are the wheels? I think from memory they are around '0"? If they are anything less than a +10 offset I am pretty sure you will have to run a 195 wide tyre to give you a small amount amount of stretch. A 205 will not give you much stretch. Just to really confuse you different brand tyres sit differently on the rims as well and although they are the same width one brand may be narrower than another. What brand tyres do you have?

  2. That size/ profile was always for slush mobiles like poverty pack Holdens and Falcons in the 80's and then MPV's when they became fashionable in the 90's

60 profile tyres were considered performance in the late 70's perhaps you should just bite it and go up a size or two in wheel diameter to get a better choice ??

Do I hear an echo? :P

  3. I don't think the seller is being that rude. You asked if he would take $4500 and he said no. Unfortunately you misinterpreted it as not giving out the rego number.

It was probably a bit over the top blacklisting you but there are a huge amount of muppets on Trade Me and unfortunately he has mistakenly perceived you as one of them.

He does state that he is selling on behalf and said he would get the seller to contact you if you left your number.

Seems more like a case of crossed wires to me :)

  4. Unfortunately that factory size lends itself now to MPVs and family minivans so you are unlikely to find anything performance oriented.

If you went to a 225/60/15 Toyo do a Teo + which will probably be one of the better tyres around, however I wouldn't really call it a performance tyre either.

You are probably best to look at going to a 17" wheel so that you can get yourself a performance. We have 17x9's in stock that should fit the bill nicely ;)

  5. All pre-sold? or do you still have some left?

Keen for a set of gold ones if still available.

    Thanks.

Stil have some available but they definitely wil not be here until January next year. It is doing my head in!! They keep moving the shipping date!!

  6. Just out of curiosity why do you want an FIA approved seat? You don't need to have one and any motorsport approved seat will be fine for what you are wanting to do. FIA approved belts are a must though obviously. Why don't you save the money on a seat and spend it elsewhere?

  7. The Proxes C1S is TOYO TIRES's new premium radial tire especially designed for premium and luxury sedans.

The Proxes C1S excels with its excellent high speed stability as well as a quiet and comfortable ride demanded for such vehicles.

The asymmetrical tread pattern features many ground braking technical advancements including Toyo Tire’s new Silent Wall technology, a wider rib at quarter point, a groove with a dimple, and a wider rib at shoulder with twin grooves. This gives the Proxes C1S reduced pattern noise, great handling, excellent directional stability, and superior ride comfort.

The construction of the new Proxes C1S features an advanced wide edge ply for reduced high pitch road noise, Toyo Tires noise protection sheet to minimise road noise even further and a high modulus silica compound for confidence inspiring wet performance.

The optimised profile and silica compound of the Proxes C1S lowers the rolling resistance providing improved fuel economy, contributing to a cleaner environment.

  8. Dunlop has a new Ultra High-Performance Tyre. The Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec is Dunlop's Extreme Performance Summer tyre developed for serious sports car, sports coupe and performance sedan enthusiasts looking for race tyre-like traction on the street or for use in autocross, drifting and track events. The Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec is for drivers who don’t want to wait as long for their tyres to come in during initial runs, as well as drivers of lighter weight vehicles who are often confronted with the task of working tyre temperatures up to the point of generating peak grip.

As an evolution of the Direzza Sport Z1 and continuing to use the same tread design, the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tread compound helps provide faster lap times from the start by developing more traction in temperate temperatures along with consistent grip on subsequent laps when the tyres are fully warmed up. While this means the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tread compound accommodates a wider operating temperature range than the original Direzza Sport Z1 and reaches its maximum grip level faster.

Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tyres confirm their “Star Spec†identity in the form of a 5-pointed star symbol branded adjacent to the Direzza Sport Z1 name on the sidewall. However, this 5-pointed star should not be confused with the same symbol often branded by tyre manufacturers on the sidewalls of Original Equipment tires for BMW vehicles.

The Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tread compound is molded into a directional design featuring notched, continuous shoulder ribs, large intermediate shoulder blocks and a wide center rib to deliver consistent contact with the road and enhance grip during cornering. Two wide, circumferential center grooves, wavy shoulder grooves and multiple lateral grooves provide water evacuation to enhance wet traction. The tyre's internal structure includes two wide steel belts reinforced by JointLess Band (JLB) Technology spirally wound polyamide to provide strength.

  9. that would probably explain why my car scrapes on most driveways (including my own :( ) even though it hasn't been lowered

Yeah I get that a bit, It also scrapes the inside guards and its standard height.

that is probably more to do with the tyre size and wheel offset rather than anything suspension wise if they both still have factory suspension.

  10. All tyre test says Eagle F1 asymmetric is great #1 or #2 but people who have used them think they are no good and tyre shop have complaints from unhappy customers.

    Anyone know why?

what people and what tyre shops?

That is a pretty generic statement to be making  and really needs some qualification from you.

Good old kiwi mentality is more to blame I think. We love to complain and will tell 10x more people about something we don't like than something we do like.

How many times have you heard people say "don't get those they are sh*t." Kiwi's love to bag something but they hardly ever praise something they like, or they will just say "they are ok" if prompted. You never hear of someone going out and telling their mates "I am so glad I bought such and such, it is really good/cool/safe/whatever". I think 'tall poppy syndrome"'is mostly to blame and has a lot to do with why people in this country never achieve much. The All Blacks are a prime example of this, even when we win people find fault in their performance.

I think people's expectations can also be unrealistic. They see all these tests and then think that it must be some kind of super tyre that will let them drive and handle like a full blown race car. A tyre only makes up a percentage of the total equation when it comes to traction and handling.

    Back OT :)

How much of a coincidence was it that you rang as I was reading your post Turbolizard??? I hope you had some success with your endeavours in finding a replacement tyre, Goodyear are a bit slack in not being able to offer a replacement

  11. Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric has the blitzed the field in the 2009 Australian MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test, convincingly taking out the title as Australia’s best performing road tyre. MOTOR tested seven of the most popular 245/40R18 road tyres and four semi-slick tyres in a comprehensive testing program at Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway. They used two Audi S4s driven by V8 Supercar driver Warren Luff.

The Goodyear tyre scored 131.4 points across all the test categories, almost a full 17 points ahead of the next best performed tyre, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT.

“The result was an excellent reflection of the tyre’s superb handling capabilities in all conditions, particularly in the wet, as a result of its unique features designed to suit all types of conditions,†Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres (NZ) Ltd marketing manager Jamie Stewart said.

“This tyre introduced a revolutionary Active Cornergrip and Racing Compound technology to provide improved braking, cornering and handling in all conditions and the results illustrate its effectiveness.â€

“While the Eagle F1 Asymmetric results in the dry were great, the tyre scored even better in the wet. It was a compelling demonstration of the excellent grip and control provided by the asymmetric tread design.â€

“They are fantastic results,†Jamie said. “Goodyear’s tyre technology just keeps on improving, with significant advances being made by our engineers in construction design and rubber compound development, delivering ever better tyres to the market.â€

Let the unbiased opinions fly!

  12. Without being libelous, just ask yourself, "why are their vehicles being sold at almost retail price, when they are meant to be an auction"

Because the "general public" THINK they are getting a bargain but do not take into account all the extra fees. It is an auction so it must be cheaper here.

I see it all the time too Brian, some cars go for more than on a car yard and they are in far worse condition. Conversely I have seen a few cars go for absolute bargains recently as well.

  13. Hi everyone

We are selling one of our demo vehicles, it has to be one of the straightest tidiest E36's around. The km's are genuine as it has hardly been driven, hoodlining has been redone, door cards are mint and the trans is fine. We are happy to negotiate with Bimmersport members and can also change the wheels if they are not your cup of tea.
