  1. was at Shell in NP at the weekend, the guy came out and said, and I quote "let me get that for you, how much would you like?" I just looked at him with the stupidest blank look on my face, I couldn't believe it! then he asked " are you from auckland?"................. Nah just kidding Anyway Shell gets my vote on that basis alone. I actually went back and put more fuel in on the Monday before I headed back, and I got the same response from a different guy. oh and I get Flybuys and airpoints on the visa etc etc etc
  2. I just chopped the 2 rear mufflers out of the 7 series, and replaced them with straight pipes. Surprisingly it gave a nice V8 burble without being too loud. You may have heard it on the Anzaz Day cruise. I know of a few other guys who have gone down the same route in E39's and have had similar results!
  3. CT01's are technically a 'touring' tyre. They are designed to be quiet on European cars on European roads. Obviously Kiwi roads are very different with their coarse chip. If you want a more performance oriented tyre and are keen to stick with Toyo, go for their T1R. Otherwise the good old Eagle F1 is another obvious choice I would recommend. Let me know what you decide to go with and I shuold be able to hook you up with a preety sweet deal. cheers Johno
  4. My VR4 used to do the same thing, it was noisy lifters. Mitsubishi V6 are known for doing it. When you next get an oil change get some PROMAR put in. After I did that my VR4 purred like a kitten. When I sold it the guy couldn't believe how quiet it was.
  5. Hi Andy, They were supposed to be here this week. We have just finished unloading a 40' HQ container (9'6" high!) and unfortunately they were not in there! We have another container leaving next week and I have been assured they are in there. ETA is now end of June. cheers Johno

what about the muppet on the motorbike!
  8. I Know Glenn and Fletch from Keywest, they are both pretty straight up guys. Unfortunately they are out west, and I am going away this weekend so won't be able to take it for a test drive. I may be able to pop out on Fri and have a quick look around it for you though. As Yuen suggests maybe try and arrange Glen to have a look over it.

    BMW M7

yeah I think he is stretching the fuel economy just a wee bit. I went to Gizzy and back last year in a 740 and got it down to about 9.8l/100km, and that was driving rather economically!
  10. Either a 225 or 235 at the front will be fine. It all depends on the manufacturer and how they masure their sectional width and how they construct the shoulders in their tyres. For example a Dunlop 225 measures as wide as a Falken or Toyo 235 due to the nature of their construction. I would personally run a 225/255 staggered combination. However saying that Hybrid has 235/265 and it works fine on his car. Guard rub has more to do with getting correct offsets. Before you go buying those wheels I would enquire as to what the offset actually is, The wider the rear wheel the higher offset you will need to 'tuck' the wheel further in. The offsets Hybrid runs would be the lowest that I would go to, as he has had some guard work done to make them fit. Also Coupes tend to have slightly wider rear guards than the sedans. If you need any more help you are welcome to pop in see me, we have done countless E46's over the past few years. Cheers Johno

Clarkson for PM!!! and it seems as if most Bimmersporters agree!
  12. slightly off topic but did you buy this off a guy in Auckland?
  13. I guess you didn't read the post a few below yours about E36 springs
  14. I would also add BA (Bachelor of Arts, or bugger all as we used to call it) to that list
  15. Welcome to the club. If you are after wheels give me a call: nudge nudge We offer great discounts to fellow Bimmerporters!
  16. OK , it really is about time for one of my rants, but I've just been for a run and don't really have the energy. Think about this: By the time you pay someone to take them out, get them compressed and then refitted you may as well buy a decent set of lowering springs and get them installed. Also how are you going to move the car while they are getting compressed? I doubt a mechanic will want the car parked up for a few days taking up workshop space.I know we sell lowering springs including installation for $400.............................. You do the maths. Or in Mastercard terms: Taking out your factory springs: $80-$100 Compressing Factory Springs: $200-$300 Putting compressed springs in: $80-$100 Doing it right with proper lowering springs: PRICELESS!! PS: do a search of the forum and see what the general consensus is about compressed springs! IMO DO NOT compress springs. Buy a decent set of progressive lowering springs, Less bounce, car handles better blah blah blah, been over this once, been over it a thousand times.
  17. that is one HOT looking car! Now that Cadillac is making RHD cars I wonder if it will ever come to NZ?

Saw one round years ago PSYMON. We were going to a car show and my girlfriend's friend thought it was PUSSYMAN. I fell over in uncontrollable fits of laughter and it took me about 5 mins before I could explain that it was probably SIMON........... and yes, she was blonde.

sorry for the quality of the photos but you cannot say that this looks worse than a stock 7
  20. here we go all over again I think this is prob the 5th or 6th time, maybe I should save this somewhere and then just copy and paste it. you should be running a 215/45/17 or 225/45/17, if you have the correct offset wheels you wil not get any rub. If you run a 205/40/17 your speedo will be way out, also affects ABS and gearbox. If you must run a 205 use a 205/45 although I'm guesiing your budget prob won't go that far.......... 3pedals feel free to jump on board
