Ive just mounted my new skirts with all new clips from BMW ($45 bucks!!!) in my rush I didn't silicon or anything round the clips in the sills , the clips seem pretty tight and sealed as they are , should I worry about water getting in? Cheers Alex.

Ok, so I got it sorted, all painted and lookin good, couldnt be arsed with the paint shop and gave up lol. Cheers for all the help guys! Alex

Ah the bit about the paint for can vs spray gun makes a bit of sense. I've given in and gone to my panel beater who was sympathetic and worked out a real cheap deal with me, so I'm getting it all sorted after all, still a hassle I didn't wanna have to go through! Alex.

So it would be fair if I complained then? I don't necessarily need money, I just want the right color paint. I thought it would need a few coats too, and I gave it more than a few as I bought enough paint to make sure, That place looks good,

OK. So I got some mtec1 sides to finish of the outside the other day, and decided to paint them myself as I've painted a few things and had some success with a reasonable end result. Went to Auto paint in Henderson to get the salmon silver to into some cans, I paid the extra $15 or whatever it was for them to come and properly color match the paint on my car. Fantastic I thought it was great, bought some primer, clear coat and enough paint to cover Africa. The total was still far less than I was quoted by a panel beater to be pro painted, and without the hassle of dropping off my car etc etc. So I get cracking, sanding, sanding and sanding, starting at 80 finishing at 400grit. Primer goes down, all good, nice coat, smooth finish. Left it to fully dry over night, and further sanded with 600grit very gently before I laid down the silver. WELL. When it came to the silver, I thought it would need to be built up over several coats, I was very wrong, I went through ALL my paint, and it did not end up anywhere near the color of my car, much to light. The best way to describe it, is glorified primer. Let that dry properly, gave it another very fine sand and on went the clear coat. Yet another disappointment, it did absolutely nothing, I left time in between coats I did EVERYTHING patiently and by the book. The end result, really great looking and well painted skirts, great finish etc etc.. only problem is their 1 shade off gray primer :| I'm going to fit them tomorrow regardless as I've been hanging out for these skirts for so long and didn't go through all this hassle to NOT fit them. My question, what can I do, can I go back and demand more paint? I've had matched paint in the past which was almost identical to my car and when sprayed could hardly tell the difference... Of course I expect variation in the paint, but this much seems a bit ridiculous. What can I dooo!!!!?! End rant. Alex.

again, i've done this once already and its an easy job and doesent mess anything up. 325_driver sorry for late reply, I think I set my oven to 140C lol, but only kept it in for short bursts at a time until I got them apart as I have no idea of the melting point of the plastic sorrounds. Use some allumium for the cross hair's or thin sheet metal, paper/card/plastic all no good.

there were 3 p/fl e30's., Shellys m325i, Ven (bradds 325i) and mine. I just have black trim.

There should be a setting in Itunes under; edit > preferences > syncing. Tick the "Disable auto syncing" as this is what makes the computer automatically try to overwrite and update all your ipods files, I've had a few computers in the time I've had my Ipod and never had a problem. Hope that helps, Alex.

A wise man (Will) once told me, if you have it all together, wiring ecu etc, its as simple as using all the wiring from the b25, and just pushing the wiring through the firewall and connecting it to the ECU.

Having done this, I can tell you it actually does not affect performance of your headlight beam whatsoever, its a plastic ring that serves no purpose (as far as I can tell), when I pulled mine apart it didn't even have any chrome left on it, it was just white lol. Not hard to do, just gotta make sure you re-seal them properly.

Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it! Alex.

lol thanks Ryan, looks like its gonna be the 'ol hammer technique after all.

Or swap bell housings from the six cylinder getrag 240? Or does that not work?
-
You really should be trying to exhibit them Glenn, or have you already? Their definitely worth showing!

Hah I too came across this site today and was reading a few of their articles, its really well done.

I'm going to assume its an e30 your talking about, and can almost be certain that the brake light sensor is the problem, (the one above the brake pedal) just adjust it, common problem. Bleed the brakes because its good to do it anyway.

Cool, I don't think its got AC in that case.. however I did pull out an electric fan from in front of the radiator.. No button I can see in the dash, and no compressor, did they get that fan regardless?
-
?! If i have aircon of course i'll despose of it properly!
-
ahhh theres the tricky bit, the dash is a bit broken and if there was a button, its gone now, i've got a picture here,I dont know m30's at all, is the bottom arrow the compressor? a pipe runs to the upper arrow from it, Cheers. Alex.
