As you guys already know, I am seriously considering this NZ new E30 M325I. I drove it, and it was brilliant. He dropped his price by 2 grand and I was almost certain this would be the one... Then I check my watchlist and BAM, the 190E Cosworth has dropped another grand and is sitting at $6,000! I can't make up my mind... I have to say that the Mercedes is looking oh so tempting right now. The only real problem is that it's up in Auckland else I would be over there in a flash. Anyhow, if you guys were in my position what do you think you would end up buying and why (lets get some useful comparisons going and keep the thread interesting). I am thinking this poll is going to be close.. even though it is an BMW forum p.s. if anyone has checked out the Merc or does not mind checking it out could you please PM me.

significant price drop on the NZ New M325i Now he has really got my attention! It's obvious he is keen to sell so planning to take her in for an inspection, make sure it's tip top and has LSD then come up with an offer. lol, I dunno I think it would be a close race. Judging from the replies here I think the Merc may have the upper hand. I think the main thing for me is that the M325 is here in Chch where all these other cars are up north. I have a few trips up there in July so might see if I can pop in and take one for a spin to compare. From what I have read, the Merc seems to have far better handling. I just can't see it being as "nippy" as the E30 though.

Well, the 2.7 just sold that will have to scratch that one off the list. Merc vs NZ New M325... hmmm.

Flick me a text when you free Yeh man, those Cosworth's were no joke... quite the driving machine I was leaning towards Merc, now I am heading back to Bimmer especially considering he is flexible on his price. Having said that, he is a car dealer and that was a trade-in car so he knows very little about it. Just means I will have to do all the proper background research.

It's not auto... it's manual! In fact it has the same Getrag dog leg gearbox as the E30 M3 from what I gather. Having said that, I just drove that NZ New Stock M325 and it was brilliant... Actually so much more gutsy that I expected. Might have to get the Chch E30 pro's to see it with me again to give me some perspective... I think I am in love again

My mum has a stock 190E and it's brilliant ay, this would be an amazing drive I am sure.

Not exactly a bimmer but looks like good bang for buck considering it's in the same price range as an M325 and that it was Mercedes reply to the E30 M3... 190E Cosworth Hmmm tempting.

Blasphemy!! lol Don't worry Greg, it will be nothing like the M3 I have no doubt.. then again it's less than half the price. As I have mentioned before, I have spent most of my money on investment hence I can't afford an "upgrade" but figure I will try and join in on the E30 craze.

I am still on the hunt for a track worthy E30 and the above were the ones that jumped out at me so far. Both seem to have fairly high asking prices, then again they seem to be great examples.
