  1. I like where this is going......
  2. I take offense to that Lance and Clinton! Definitely lacks cylinders and leather though
  3. I know of another person who is keen as well
  4. I've been driving it around for a little under 2000km now, and my gosh. It's a pleasure to drive! Riiiiiiiiight. So I finally got around to tallying up my expenses on the old girl...f**k me i've dropped a fair amount of money into her! It appears I went over what I had 'guesstimated' originally, but in my opinion it's worth it! The below is only for the conversion. 1600 for the box/release arm/shifter linkage 700 total shipping (250 land shipping to port from seller, 200 customs and 250 overseas shipping) 1100 oem clutch kit 300 clutch kit shipping 1100 lightweight flywheel 150 flywheel shipping 30 stainless steel clutchline (got with flywheel as I saw it at the same time haha) 22 for assorted bolts bought throughout the conversion/maintenance 165 driveshaft hanger 60 2x transmission mounts 325 driveshaft lengthen/balance 56 master cylinder 200 pedal box 150ish for z3 shortshift 110 m5 shift surround (thanks Boris, it's awesome ) I already had 2 good condition guibo/driveshaft donuts so reused one of them (they are interchangeable between auto and manual). The clutch/flywheel could have been done much cheaper if i'd gotten it in NZ. However with the issues I was having, I splashed out and just bought them both overseas. Total is about $6200 for conversion Any questions, fire away *edit* - this just occured to me....I could buy 2-3 e30 325i's...but would I....NO!
  5. I thought that gain was pretty good for a blower running that amount of boost? Good stuff

    Circuit Sprints

Hot damn that's nice! What was the dyno result? Last time I read about this car I don't remember the blower
  7. ^^^ Ross's b10 alpina. Saw it last night too, very nice
  8. That's a great idea Simon. For one paper I had a c**t of a lecturer myself (mechanical engineering too...). We all just went to HOD and explained the situation. At the end of the semester he was no longer lecturing. I feel your pain. All the best with how it ends up!

    WTF!

^^^^ A lot of the stuff you post is unnecessary....like the above post.... Come on dude, you're not helping. *edit* - this was aimed at Antil33t
  10. +1, others should STFU and piss off. That's MY 2c..........
  11. Currently it is still lacking a lot of the trim near the driver/passenger and gearshift so it is much noisier. Where the shifter is it is basically an open hole to the road at the moment (apart from a little rubber boot). There is flywheel chatter below 1500 rpm when under load, this is exascerbated by the fact there is no sound insulation at present. I personally think the flywheel does make a difference, but who knows? Could be a placebo. 1st - 60km 2nd - 100km 3rd - 150km 4th - 200km and I would say 5th 250km (limited) I feel the gear spacings are too big (i'm after a bit more go, others would probably be happy with this). At 100km/h it sits about about 1950-2000rpm in 6th. I reset the OBC fuel consumption and with 60% highway 40% town it's sitting at about 11.5l/100km, which isn't too bad (and that's with a heavy foot ).
  12. Braeden - yes, it would go past 200 with ease . This diff is super long and with a shorter one it would be much quicker. 1st - 60km 2nd - 100km 3rd - 150km 4th - 200km and I would say 5th 250km (limited) Simon - I have one brake light bulb which blew AFTER I got a WOF of all things, pain in the ass. Replacing today. The other warnings are Washer fluid (sensor isn't plugged in properly haha) and the infamous TRANS PROGRAM
  13. "1993 e34 540i 6 speed converted from automatic 0 - 200 km/h. JB Racing Lightweight flywheel. Oem clutch. 2.93 LSD. z3 1.9 short shifter. H&R and Bilstein sports. Exhaust. Staggered ACS Type 2 wheels. Recorded on a private road near a friends farm." The quality is sh*t because all we had was a crappy camera to record the video.
  14. Allan - I would say approx 60-70kg maybe a bit more? The manual gearbox I can lift by myself (average build guy). However the auto is a STRUGGLE with two people....and we were only trying to move it about 8m from one garage to another at my house! The weight difference in the flywheel alone is about 9kg based on THIS My job over the weekend is to clean the girl up and attempt to put some of the trim back together etc (and work on some vids )
  15. Welcome to Bimmersport! Love the track videos/pics
  16. No problem about the short shifter. Feel free to let me know next time you're in Aucks. I will check out the playday website now. Cheers Kerry, I can't wait to see how your project turns out
  17. My observations so far. I don't know how this is possible - but the exhaust seems louder than it was as an auto? (maybe a bit more application on the loud pedal? lol) The engine loves to rev all the way to the redline. Previously with the auto, once it got to about 4.5k the pull would remain constant, now it pulls harder past this point to 6250. The short shift is wonderful. The z3 1.9 is a direct fit and IMO is a great addition. I havn't put all of the sound insulation/covers back on yet, but it gets quite hot in the cabin (shifter hole in trans tunnel still open apart from rubber boot) and there is quite a bit more noise from the engine bay heard in the cabin. The rear is much more stable/solid. Previously when jacking the car up on the side (using jacking points) the rear wheels would both remain on the ground while the front was lifted. Now I can raise the entire side of the car when I do this. I used to have a squeak which would come from the rear when you went over a big bump or pushed the rear down, this has now gone. The idle is much smoother as well as engine response...just need to replace those engine mounts. I am very happy with the result. Who's keen on hampton downs/pukekohe in the next month or two? Will try and get some vids tonight or over the weekend, sounds glorious!
  18. ^^ That looks f**king awesome mate. I can't wait to see some vids of this thing going
  19. Righto. Alignment - check. WOF - check. Driving for the last 5 and a half hours to 'wear in clutch' - check. Enjoying every minute of the 5 and a half hours - check!
  20. So what did you pay this company to do exactly? Make mounts and put the engine in.........??????????????? Because that sounds like that's all they've done.......
