  1. i always do it. even when just going to the shops. i have gotten so used to doing it that its just second nature that as clutch goes in and come out to slide heel over a blip gas. i also do the similiar thing when on my bike. i have become quite proficient at it, to the point where i now never use any engine braking at all, only pedal braking, and the blips i use dont sound any more aggressive than the engine braking noises my mums car makes. (hardly noticeable) i find the to have an almost perfect layout for it, maybe the brake pedal could be a bit lower for higher speed use
  2. 4.9 million? jesus that impressive highest i ever had in a car has been 280, but my parents had a civic with 390 in south africa, that was maintained really well.
  3. probably because it is ten at night, and i t is raining i just used other means to get it home but thanks for the info anyway. i couldnt find the hook part because the car decided to pack it in on a dark road nad i had notorch
  4. where do i get this loop from? thanks
  5. so. like my e30 325i decided to pop off a radiator hose and lose all its coolant tonight. (only in teh rain and at night eh) this is fine, i really dont mind it needed a complete hose replacement, but what i wanna know is..... where do i attach my tow rope so that i can get my car home? anyone? there is a nice big loop of metal on the back for towing someone else, but what if the car itself needs towing..
  6. get a 325i for a daily, they go well, and are cheap. you dont want a car for a daily wich uses up all your money
  7. i feel meh about the e92 (a much better car than mine granted, but still, weight...)
  8. two very good friends of mine were killed by a recidivist drink driver recently. i know of atleast 4 youngish guys who are all at varoius stages of regianing licenses from drink driving offenmces
  9. there is a really simple and efective way to make boy racers either die without harming anyone else, or learn to respect vehicles on the road. make them ride a (real) motorbike for 6 months. they will either have invincibility complex and die or learn that, fear, real fear, the kind that puckers up your anus, and makes you feel drained and giddy afterward from adrenaline, is not achieved bungee jumping, it is not achieved racing a powerful car. it is a mum in an suv or an old person driving with a hat on. once they have felt the fear, they will respect the road and road users edit: or just dont let them get gas if they dont have wof rego and insurance
  10. 350 chev, 400 crank, a few other bits and pieces. makes far too much power, but the mrs likes it
  11. hey mate, its definitely easier to get this as the first mod you do to a car. (before exhaust, filter etc) reason being that the set up is just about taken care of then as there are many base maps and things for stock cars everywhere. second, you will notice a bit of improvement with the ecu, but then you will be able to actually tune the car for every thing you do - did you know just an air filter and exhaust can lean you car out quite considerably? also then the turbo installation becomes just that: a turbo installation, not a nightmare of hard ware AND tuning problems. there are many reasons why this should be the 1st thing you do to a car (power wise), but most of all it because for the price, and the learning experience, you just cant go wrong. i wish mine was installed and running.
  12. ummm 6.3 litre... the 5.0 badges are just for show. although it is for sale, it nice to drive, but a waste of gas, and not really much in the way of looks or handling
  13. its a 1.8l sohc with 4speed fwd legacy wagon. i know my car is not a pos but it gave me avery hard time today...
  14. so i am round at a mates place doing the manual conversion, and every dude there bar none was going on and on and on about how shitty my car is. criticisisng every part of it, every little thing that wasnt the same as there cars was criticised. and to make matters worse, the stupid gearbox bolts are some gay design which strips mega easy. so the job isnt done and we spent the day hacking up the car tryig tp get the bolts off. tell me why my car is better than a subaru legacy 1989 model please, i need a morale boost i am starting to believe them about hwo crap the car is put together and stuff.
  15. its all sorted now - but just for the record i am buying the piss at teh next next northland bs meet - and i owe bravo a huge favour
  16. know a bmw dealer that is open tomorrow morning in whangarei? edit: i am not being sarcastic, i need them tomorrow.
  17. hey guys i am going to die of cancer, aids, ebola, and herpes if someone cannot tell me what the size and specs on a e30 325i flywheel bolts are. i need to go to a fastener supplier and buy some tomorrow. i need to know, thread pitch, size (m10 or m6 or whatever) and length. also if anyone has it handy, what grade they are ( i was going to just get the highest grade i could afford.) please can someone tell what they are and what i can buy for a replacement
  18. this has probably been thrashed to death, but where and how much do people pay for these? also, for a full featured link(that has all the features of ms2) how much would i pay? vheers
  19. not to piss on your parade, and i am green with envy that you have the means to builds such an outstanding car, but wouldnt a swap for a different motor have yielded better results? not sure what the rules are, but it seems to be must retain same engine, but with unlimited mods? what class you racing in?
  20. just managed to score a lysholm twin screw supercharger for $250.. much more efficient, and much lower out put temps than conventional roots blowers. sweet....
  21. done. also did anyone find themselves checking every one of the boxes under aftermarket purchases?
  22. there is no outsourced labour... about 1600 all up. but thats with hook ups - expect 2k-2.5k and if you need someone to install everything for you expect to get raped without lube self tuned with megasquirt and wideband o2, and dyno run or two just to make sure everything is tip top
  23. 280hp(crank) should be attainable with the sc14, which is really enought to make an e30 come alive, especially given that the cars weigh bugger all. e30tech has some great info under supercharging section. there are also some pretty much fool proof guides to fitting megasquirt to an e30. using the guides posted there i had the car u an running (including installation of megasquirt) on a saturday morning. essential to get a widebnd o2 sensor though.
