  1. I have a odd set of locking studs that look like a normal hex but have 2-3 long faces and the rest are short if you know what i mean. Does this sound familiar and can i borrow/buy a socket to undo please?
  2. When they are are gone they will be gone. Besides i hate the crap on TV and too old to go to the pub every night. Its amazing what you can get done between 7 and 11 when you don't watch TV. BTW the manual is a 323i and the other is a 320i. The 318 is another story. ....pissed me off i put some gas in the 320 to move it thinking no way is this going to start and it fired right up, smooth as. That's after 2 years sitting with a dry tank........
  3. Yeah not rushing into it. Currently harvesting suspension parts to get 318i wof'd and lowered. Found the 4 door has 15x7 rims. They look like a genuine e30 wheels complete with centre emblems. Not quite my cup of tea so will post pics and price soon. tyres are 195/60/15's on front and 205/60/15's on rear, but 2 have cracking on the side walls from sitting half flat.
  4. Its not in good nick but may respond to some hammering. I'll take it off and check.
  5. If you pull the boot liner that covers the long range tank, iifc on the drivers side there is a transfer/vent hose and a point that it can rub on........
  6. no, prev owner decided to tow it 10k with a flat......
  7. did you get it this time? keen and will pay straight away but can't collect for a few weeks.
  8. That is the plan. .. so today i tried to start both cars, to see if i could warm them up for a compression test. The coupe has had the ignition shanked and will require the wiring cluster? replaced. The white bit where the wires all meet with the hole in the centre. Someone had gone to town in that hole with a scewdriver. Hotwire instructions anyone? The chrome on the wheels (they are 17's) is peeling badly on the back surfaces as per the pic. One tyre is shredded and the other 3 are Dunop Direzza's, 205/40/17's, with good tread. The chrome on the faces and lips is good but they would need to be refinished.
  9. Ha Ha nah if it all gets too hard i'll get my money back for scrap.did you want to make an offer for the wheels?
  10. I found these two diamond schwartz e30's slowly rotting away, and decided to intervene. This is them after a wash, de-weeding and 50 cockroaches had escaped. 1 is a pfl 323i manual, the other a pfl 320i auto Now wondering what the go is with re-compliance and suspension? the coupe has been dropped and is on some "interesting" chromes and stretched tyres. The 4 door is at a good height on some 15's that should clean up ok. The plan is to get the coupe re-reg using parts from both. For re-compliance will the suspension need to be back to original or just legal? Anyone interested in those lovely chromes feel free to make an offer......
  11. pics attached. Looks like the alt has rotated on stuffed bushes?
  12. have some m3 springs to go into a '86 318i looking for some good shocks to go with.
  13. have picked up this tidy little 318i, changed the crank seal and noted that the belt layout looked a bit odd. The alt belt was on an angle. On reassembly i cant get it back together any other way. Wondering if the belts on it are the wrong size or if the alt is mounted crooked. Does anyone have a diagram of the right belt layout?
  14. If that suits you Paul, I can wait a few weeks for the parts to arrive.
  15. Hi, I'll give you $20 for the towbar plug if still avail, will need the loom too.
  16. If anyone can assist, i am trying to get a couple of boxes of parts from a member attending Manfield, back to Tauranga. The usual payment will apply.....
  17. Cheers for that, do you know what the timing settings for timing light and flywheel method are?
  18. Have a 318i that cranks for about 5 seconds before it just catches then idles real low, when starting from cold. Sometimes needs a couple of cracks to get it going. When its warm or has been running it fires right up. Tried holding key at ign on for a few secs and that was better but still only just catches. Have been thinking fuel and whether its holding pressure. I heard these have like a non return valve somewhere in the line ....? any hints? Also the temp gauge only seems to work up to 1/4, even when the car is warm and the radiator hoses are hot to touch. All hoses are hot so water seems to be circulating. Is it the thema-time switch up on the top is faulty and how do you test those? I have a bid on a haynes manual but it doesn't close till tomorrow
  19. I think this guy has some used gear; http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-470754175.htm
  20. Hi, I am after some annoying little bits; 1 I need 2x of the little black bits that hold the tail light inners on. Will take complete tail light units if i have to. 2 The little screw that holds the plate on a manual sunroof winder. 3 A manual window winder (black) 4 An outer headlight 5 A working aerial 6 A pair of fog lights including plugs and loom. 7 A cover for the diagnostic plug 8 A driver door lock to use for parts - so must have key. 9 A pair of guard liners - the bit that usually has the brake duct opening in. (no duct ) Cheers.
  21. I am looking for a solid e34 for the wife (yeah right). The 540 seems to be a members car (fully loaded but not a factory ms?)but anyone know about this one? Looks like its had some agricultural use.....535is Other one 540i What are the maintenance regimes and gas mileage like using either as a daily. Are the v8's easy to work on or best left to a professional? We are currently using a volvo 850 which is surprisingly economical for a 2.4 Turbo. Cheers
  22. The tyre has been stored for 6 month un-ftted. (on its side)
