  1. Haha JC on BMW's is always a good laugh, he loves to hate them and hates it when he loves them, M3 (CSL) for example. Same deal with american cars, any chance they get they'll rip into them

Then again if its a British car...

    All good value though.

As for the run flats, seems like a waste of time for me, i haven't driven on them but doesn't sound like its worth it, how often do you get a flat tire anyway?

  2. Wow, a carb, whats that??, just kidding, its only every tenth blue moon we ever saw a car with a carb

times have changed long ago in that respect, infact even a simple job like adjusting the idle speed on the new BMW's is not a case of open the hood & adjust a screw, its now, plug in the Computer & down load the new specs !!

Hey nothing wrong with carbs, my bike makes over 125 Hp per litre stock with a good old carbie. Besides you can actually tune a carb yourself, no need for chips, link plus etc.

  3. Ok guys, Jerry Claytons are king.

They drove to my house, picked me up, brought my car out to the door at jcbmw for me.

They quoted $760, which was a good price, They gave me a discount, so it only costed me $416 incl. GST!!

They did a full valet on my car also. It drives soo much better than it used to now.

I did an engine flush myself tonight, and an oil change, and forgot to put the filler cap back on. Lost the cap.

I went into JC at 6:15pm, most lights were out and a few ppl were around. They took an oil cap off a new car, and gave it to me, and said to drop it back in tomorrow. Saved.

    JCBMW rock.

    nath

$416 is an awesome price for a clutch fitted when you consider the cost of the parts and the labour involved. Thats a hell of a discount, maybe they made a mistake. Service sounds excellent as well.

  4. have you put a multimeter on the wires at the motor so you know for sure they are getting power? Any noise, like a click or something like that? Just seems that if it was the motors at least one would make some sort of movement/noise.

  5. Easiest way to upgrade swaybars is to chuck some on from a 325i, both rear and front. Cost about $50 for the back, about the same for the front i suppose. If you find a rear bar off and M3 or 325iX that would be even better. If you go aftermarket you should probably strengthen the rear mount points as the are quite weak. Decent sport shocks cost around 1K for all four, springs around 350. For the bushings have a look at Ireland Engineering or Powerflex, and put some M3 offset CABs in there. Brakes- a few guys are running Brembo rotors with metal king pads, retail on the Brembos is around 125each for the front from memory, can't remember on pads but the choice is endless for pads and rotors. Fresh fluid is a must and SS lines are also good. Z3 short shift lever is also a good upgrade.

EDIT- Just do a search on any of the ideas people talk about, its all been covered shitloads before.

  6. i got 3rd party with fire & theft cover.

no excess on theft, or glass replacement. - don't loose no claims either

    $750 excess for an accident.

    $250 premium

    insurance companies love alarms

sh*t thats a good deal, your car has similar mods to mine, how old are you if ya don't mind? Who are you insured with?

  7. Yes it will go sideways, but what sort of car are you trying to build? a drift car or a race car? Go too big on the back and you start to lift the inside rear wheel. On a rwd car, not good, limits traction out of corners and slows corner speed.

  8. I know what you mean about the steering, just seems to turn in better and go round corners lots happier. As carl said i don't notice it on every corner but definatly a good upgrade for the cost.

  9. I agree about compulsory insurance although it will cause a few problems for people with modified cars, previous claim, poor driving history etc.

I myself have 3rd party, and fire and theft. F & T doesn't cost much extra and makes sense especially with my stereo.

Thing that pisses me off is that the excess is still f**king high becuase of my age. How does me being under 21 increase the chance of my car being stolen or catching fire?

  10. Where are the E30's known for rusting?

Bits I know of or have seen include:

    Sunroof

Firewall, also around where the battery sits up front

    Around the rear tail lights

    Rear shock mounts

    Around the front windscreen

Where else is bad for rust?

  11. Holy sh*t. I followed the links to the site about the M3 with the S38 and the massive front mount. That thing is insane. 875Hp and 1260 Nm! I downloaded the vid of it going down the strip. 12.04 run and 2 black lines all the down. :D

I know most of you will have seen it all before but it is still f**king cool.
