    Parts for sale

Sorry, car has long gone, it was E30 anyway. Springs, sorry again but he wont sell them that cheap, better off just hanging on to them for that price. But you should get new shocks no matter how low the springs, its not the height that matters (unless the springs aren't captive) but the different spring rates.
  2. From what I've read about the early E36's I'd be a bit worried about owning one. However i'd also be a bit worried about an E30 with only a 100K on the clock. its probably coming up for a lot of maintenance work, ie cambelt, shocks, etc. Its not that bad buying a higher milage vehicle becuase chances are, everything thats going to go wrong has gone wrong. My experiences with E30's... My 87' 318i has been great. Its never left me stranded and i've only had one problem and that was the clutch MC, a $30 fix BTW. Uses no oil, no water, blows no smoke. And thats in a car thats 240K, it is NZ new though. My mates 87' 320i was a shitter. Everything went wrong with it. Leaks everywhere, electrics clapped out, clutch clapped out, brakes barely worked. Engine clapped out. This car had done about 200K and was a UK import. Also, i agree with whoever said e30's are easier to work on. So much less electronics. Will you do work yourself or get a shop to do it? I quite like working on cars, bikes etc so i dont mind doing preventive maintenance and fixing little problems. 318i's get a bit of sh*t for being slow (which i wont disagree with) but 320's arent much better. theres quite abit more weight for only an extra 15 hp. 5spd 318s are quicker than auto 320, and a manual 320i vs manual 318i would come down to the drivers. My 2 cents.
  3. Wow, same motor as me. I must have a 318iS Nah seriously, Grants right.

    M3

But you get get one that been converted to RHD and replace 325 rack with E36 M3 rack? All E30 M3's are LHD right? So there would be no RHD e30 M3 racks?
  5. Talk to gus about the tint on the window. You can paint the front and rear windscreen trim (is that what your talking about?). About the sport shocks- Your car will handle better if you upgrade the shocks and the springs so both rates are the same. Lots of misinformation about different spring rates etc but most aftermarket springs are all around 30% stiffer than stock (unless you start getting serious). Sports shocks are also around 30% stiffer than standard so match lowered springs well. When i went from worn shocks to sports shocks in the back it made a far bigger difference than when i went from worn shocks to standard shocks in the front. That said, i am still using standard rate shocks in the front with lowered springs with out any problems for almost a year now. I do intend to upgrade the front but the car handles well enough atm and i would rather spend money on other little problems. Hope that helps, (and wasn't too confusing) Mike
  6. Tints make car look much better IMO, espicially if you do shadowline. Gus used sign writing vinyl (or something like that) on his and with the tints it looked very cool. As for springs lots of people have jamex but there are loads of different options out there. Do a search, theres heaps of threads already.
  7. because iPod holds 1000 songs and cd only has maybe 15. I get really sick of changing a cd every hour. Also cds get scratched (especially in cd stackers), lost and stolen. Also if you use a high bit rate the quality drop is almost not noticable.
  8. What everyone else said. keep alpina's, clean it all up. Shadowline (paint the crome around your windows black) also looks real good on black cars.
  9. The M325i should hold its price better, will also be faster than both of those cars you talked about. Looks the best too IMO. The other cars will probably be nicer and more relaxing to drive though. Depends what your looking for.

    exhausts

Huh?Anyway, 2 1/4 is as big as you need to go for a 1.8 Its the same size i got i my 1.8 I know they completly different engine but mine is a good volume and even has a bit of a rumble. Mine has 2 resonators and a muffler on the end but could maybe even lose one resonator. Don't go overboard and get a huge 3" system with only a nice shiny tip. It will sound horrible and wont make your car any faster.
  13. Its 4wd Hmmm, i'm sure it could be modified

    M10 CAI

No sure if anyone wants this but anyway... Since i built my new Intake i have my old setup lying around if anyone wants it. You only need a pod filter and a rubber joining boot and a few bands to join it together. The bands and rubber boot should cost less than 5 bucks. It does away with the factory airbox and puts the filter behind the fog light. Uses all the factory mounts so you can go straight back to factroy if you want. Might fit other E30 but not sure. Free to first person to PM me. Cheers Mike EDIT- Might be an idea to repaint it, black isn't exactly an ideal colour.
  15. Soory i can't answer the question, but i have another one along the same lines. Whats the deal on piggy-back ecu's? I know thats what the tuners are using for XR6T as they haven't managed to crack the factory code yet.
  16. Odd, my car has them and has almost no other options.
  17. very cool. but that goddam bov gets pretty annoying.
  18. Maybe it was one of the 325i Cilk Wurm was talking about, brought into NZ as 325 then had kit, etc put on and resigistered as a M325i? I think you can take the VIN to BMW dealer and they will tell you for certain. I dont think the registration is much to go by, if so my car is a BMW 3181. off topic but what do you mean about the pop out windows?

    Mark Knopfler

Going to ChCh has worked out quite well for me. While I'm down there I have the choice of Velvet Revolver, REM or Mark Knopfler. Problem is since I'm a poor student i got to decide who i want to see the most. :banghead:
  20. Black headliner and shadowline, there are more differences aswell that only M325i had.

    wheels

Touring with a good engine be far cooler than a sedan or coupe. Wolf in sheeps clothing.
  22. only a 320, chances are it wont have a sway bar. My bets on the muffler.
