  1. I'll take your word for it. It doesn't matter anyway, the alarm is going in this week and the guy said it can be done with out the factory relays.

Out of interest, what else is prewired? I know foggies are but what about windows, cruise control etc?

  2. Not sure if anyone else doesn't have central locking but I pulled it off my mates car and stuck it in my car today (along with leather seats :D ). Its relativly easy and you only need 3 parts: the locking mechanism, the motor, and the link between the two. Everything else can be reused. The 2 and 4 cars use a different locking system but some parts might be the same (motors and maybe the locking mechanism). The hardest part is hooking it all up because you have to do it inside the door and there isn't much room.

Boot: This is way harder than the doors becuase you actually need to change the locks over. You have to pull apart the original boot lock, then pull out the cylinder with all the little slide things in it. Do the same with the central lock boot until you have both cylinders next to each other. Now carefully pull the little gates (i don't know what they called) and swap them over. You have to make sure you get them in the exact same place or your key wont fit. Put the new lock all back together and bolt it up. Get a motor and linkage and put in the boot, (the mounts are already there)

Normally you would have to wire it all up in which case you will need the central lock computer but i'm hoping to hook it up to my alarm. Can anyone tell me if this will work?

One more thing, the motors are colour coded depending on which door they are supposed to go in.

  3. The lower you can get the c.o.f the better your car should go round corners, BUT, not at the expense of suspension travel. I reckon with the same shocks, and spring rates etc but different ride heights tims would probably be better in the track but andys would go better on bumpy back roads, (ignoring any other mods)

Which is why you want fully adjustable coilovers, low for the track and higher when you need the travel.

  4. Don't worry sic* the rear fill is on the way out. I've been driving round for a while now with the fade all the way forward. I wasn't sure whether i would like it or not. I think I'll take them out and put the factory grills in there with no speakers, would that be good or bad?

The are a few rattles, slowly fixing them.

And yeah i did it myself. Equiment aside i spent around 200 on power cable, RCA, connections, fuses, wood, carpet etc so budget more than you think you'll need.

    Munts316i, buy my amp!

    its a lightning audio, 150 x 2 or 50 x 4 so you can power 2 subs, or 1 sub and 2 speakers, or 4 speakers. $180

  5. but if you got 6 pot brembos and kelly 175/70 R13 tires those brakes aren't going to stop you.

Its a balance thing, good brakes are pointless on crappy tyres Most standard brakes have about the same stopping power, how good the tyres are is how hard you can apply them. You need god brakes when you are stopppng repeatedly from high speed, and as sic said, even wicked tyres wont save you when the brakes are too hot to work.

General rule when doing up a car, get decent tyres, then brakes, then start playing with the motor.

  6. Do you know where the switch is for it? Its right next to the one for the front fogs, maybe you were tunring it on and off without knowing?

and as nath said, if the it really is electrical problem pull the switch and spray some CRC contact cleaner over all the connections, do relays and all other connections while your at it.

  7. Haha yeah thats him, i posted that up, i might scan the article and post that up as well.
