  1. Am looking to find out a bit about M40 318 motors, just bought one with a probable blown head gasket, Do the heads crack normally? Any body got another motor, head,??? Twin cam????? will it swap over easy or not??? Performance and chips to make them go better, where from?? Thanks
  2. Last head i sold on Trade Me, went for $500.00. That had been recond though. M20 heads are known for cracking, if its in good order then its worth every bit of $300.00. as is. More if given a valve grind. My 5 cents.
  3. I have a complete 325i motor that i will sell for a good offer! Its not in bad condition. But could do with a valve grind.

    Engine Build

It goes too damn fast!! 126.6 at manfield. really? that would be awesome. looking at the two pistons/rods it looks about right. will test fit them when i can and see...fun times. how does yours go? FL or pre FL pistons?
  6. They should be the same. So long as they are both either Pre face lift or face lift. Driveshaft rubber mounts are differant. Face lift is narrower on the later cars.

    Engine Build

Some ring suppliers recomend that you Dont Hone, and assemble the pistons and rings dry ( no oil ). So check this out before you Hone. The cylinder head Valve stem seals are the biggest user of oil, If you were getting any smoke off the motor before, then i would do a valve grind and fit the new seals. Engine oil to assemble is ok, I tend to put Clean grease in the oil pump when i assemble them, It makes it pick up the oil quicker when turning over the first time. Just My way of doing it. Hope it helps.
  8. Its probably a broken Gearbox/transmission mount. Or driveshaft center bearing rubber busted. Not a huge expence, but you may be able to stick the cost as a result of the Bacon hitting you!

    3.45 : 1 LSD

Hi Andy, out of e30 320i Tourist delivery 4 door car. I suspect thats what it is, as it 11/85 reg NZ, with a MPH Speedo. Not sure what the norm was for these cars, or what it may be worth Savini, it will go in any e30 car as far as i know, have had a few of these and not seen any differences in mounting.

  15. At the moment, 2000 e46 328i , 1983 323i race car, 1985 320i parts car. previous , 1998 E36 Ti 1986 318i 1985 323i ( Red ) 1985 323i ( Black ) 1985 320i ( White ) 1985 325i ( Grey ) 1985 325i ( White ) 1983 323i ( Bronze) 1991 320i ( Black ) Then we wont mention the Fiats, Jaguars, Daimlers,Minis,Holdens, Etc Hate to think how many cars i have owned in the last 20 mumble years!! Who has had more than 50??? I have only had BMW's since 1996!
  16. Come on where are the BIG milage cars? My race car had 380,000 on it when i bought it, re ring and bearings, clutch and bits, sold motor out of it with 440,000 on and still pulling like Carl!! Wrecked UK built 325i with 215,000 MILES on it!!
  17. Just feel that i should join the debate on Shellys. Having spent lots of money with them, last car was only 6 months old when purchesed, And been given the "go away" responce from them re club involvment. They did not see the club as having any benefit to furthering their business. I only take my e46 there, as they are not interested in older cars. Spares department is outstanding in service, and i find them not over the top for the regular maintainence parts, oil filters and such. The way I was treated by the salesman when i bought the car, would not make me at all keen to buy again. I would rather go the Jeff Gray and commute back to get it checked. My 10 cents ( as thats the smallest now)
  18. Its only held in with a spring loaded pin. Pull backward and it should fall off in your hand.
  19. Yep, e46 and they go on top of the lights, i think. They for sale??
  20. Happy Birthday Princess, Nice dice!! :pimp:
  21. The clue is in tha spark pack. Probably not running on that cylinder, over fueling and caysing the smoke. try replacing it!

If you mean the "Torx" type that look like a star, I got my set from Trade Tools, Branches about the country, about 80.00 for the sockets. Both internal and external. And a allen key type set was about 25.00.
  23. Has it bent the chassis rail?? If not then it may be worth fixin'. looks as though it was a tidy one before the hit!
