  1. The rear has corrected by itself. I dont know what caused the lean. I had a good look at both sides, nothing was different between them. Thanks for the offers of parts.
  2. So did I must be going all round nz.
  3. A good milestone post. If a BIG meet was planned some of the guys from the mainland could drive up, you can get a group discount on the ferry. Nice and relaxing part of the country to meet. Not a lot of boy racers to rain on the parade i guess?
  4. Yeah i have had a few offers now which is great. Thing is the rear is not leaning anymore! This is just crazy. I still have not had a chance to check it out, forgot i had plans for last night, so will have a good look tomorrow.
  5. Thanks for the advice will jack it up and compare, i have another e30 to check against as well. Should sort it out this weekend. It still drives okay could only see it was leaning didnt feel anything.
  6. I will defiantly do the box of beers option if someone in ChCh has some. I didnt jack her up last night will do tonight. Will check with Keith on the price for a set.
  7. lol well i was way off. Have not done a lot with suspension. So we were going over very hard curving mountain roads, possibly pushing it a bit and had some hard bumps coming out of the corners mostly on the right rear. Are the springs likely to recover from that or have they been permanently compressed? Do Bimmersport members get any discount on a set of new rear springs? Don't know how old they were, maybe it was time for some new ones.
  8. Hello. We went over to Akaroa for the night and just yesterday we noticed that the right rear was lower. It looks nice but need to get it fixed asap. Do you repair shocks or just replace them? How much for a rear set and good brands to use? Is it straight forward enough to do at home? Cheers
  9. I will answer what i have experienced. - Oil leak just have to narrow it down. - Oil in manifold, you will get some as the oil breather connects to the bottom clean it out as much as you can. But everyone gets it. - Compression. take it to a mechanic. - Doesnt sound good but not sure it is oil as that would be blue smoke, maybe just running rich. - Brakes lol. Every new driver of an e30 comments on this. I bleed my brakes and replaced the front flexi hose which made a difference but then someone did some work on the car and said they were bad. The fact is if you need to stop in a hurry they will work just fine. - This could just be faulty wiring best to start by soldering the radio connections. Did the fuses blow. Another narrow down of possible causes. Enjoy your new e30 they are fun to learn on. Do you have the radio on when you do your restricted anyway?
  10. lol great it has the cringe factor too.
  11. Okay well i did not see it but my wife just said it was meant to advertise their reversing cameras. Seems the ladies will understand it better then, since they listen..lol.
  12. Hello, as stated i require a distributor for a 1987 525i and have been told they can be hard to find and get snapped up fast so anyone got a spare lying around they could part with? Cheers p.s. I am going to post a pic so no confusion on what i require.

    Few E30 Parts

Hello What part of the country are you in? I am interested in the rust free sunroof and possibly guards. Give me a pm with details, condition etc and price. Cheers.
  14. Well thats not the attutide to have is it. lol. I am sure you would enjoy learning how they work, get some of the young ones to show you.
  15. Well after that no need to rush as the panel beaters have let me down. Oh well thats life. Now i might as well do some other maintenance that i was going to leave to later. I am thinking suspension and interior: - Who do you get neothane bushes from i remember reading they are about $100 a pair? is that about right? - I need a crack free dash to start with. Cheers for the replies.
  16. Often when people try and make a false claim it wont ever reach an investigator as the claims adviser (phone operators) pick up dodgy over inflated claims easily. Every claim is lodged for other insurance company's to access so they can see if you try the same claim later. If you make a false claim even a small one it would be hard to get future insurance.
  17. I like the crome of the pfl. I know that other 3 series are more comfortable but i dont spend more than half an hour in any car being that i live in the city. But then being comfy is a personal thing and a heater & stereo do it for me. I had a e28 which is about the same as a e30 as far as modern goes but it had more room (for long legs) and leather which was so nice. Why are the e36 M3 not that good if i was going to buy any e36 it would be an M3.
  18. I like the E30 and if i was to get a later model i would skip the e36 and get an E46. But at the moment i am having fun working on the e30's which is a simple car to start with. I do like the later model e36 but do not like the ones with the missing rear end.
  19. Had to get the smart answer first aye. I will have friday afternoon, sat and sun so the piece of string is about 48hours long. I am looking for the more constructive, "you can do it" posts. Just some moral support. The most difficult aspect for me will be getting the engine in. But if i took it out, and i do have good photos, then i can put it back. If i get stuck i will just post up I NEED SOME HELP! Cheers
  20. Yeah fully stripped, no engine, no interior, no wiring. Just a rolling shell. lol
  21. Any experience in any car will do. Has anyone done a one man reassemble in a weekend?
  22. Hello, Just want to approximate hours to reassemble an e30 from a rolling shell to a complete runner. I will have to direct any help as to how to do anything as i took it apart by myself. I am thinking it will be faster to do it by myself except for lifting the heavy parts. Any opinions welcome. Cheers, Adam
  23. Hello I have taken a rear sub frame out before. Just to clarify, you have taken the nut off the handbrake cable at the handbrake. If so when you are pulling the hand brake out there is a metal pipe that it slots into and comes out underneath. The rubber cover over the handbrake cable slots into the metal pipe i found that this was in very tight. No pulling would get it out so i twisted it and that did the trick to loosen it up. Adam
  24. No change to the engine just standard. lol.. from your discription 4-5 clinders or is it 318 then 2-3. Maybe the spark jumped the snapped one. So it is a good idea to replace them at some point before something similar happens. I dont know the history of the car should i replace them incase or can they be checked? I mean i can check the points but what if there is a snap i can not see?
