Is there a compliance loop hole where the tyre should be within the fender but the wheel can sit outside. Or is it that if you had wide wheels and normal tyres you would be rubbing on the guards. Therefore stretched = no rubbing and some people have taken this to an extreme. For me I like the wide tyres and recessed wheels look because it has good width from the front/ rear. Simply, 225 wide just look better than 195.

Hi All. e32 87 So the electronic display has been on the fritz for awhile and a good ole tap on the dash would set it straight. But now it has died completely and no tap is bringing it back. I searched the net and replaced some capacitors on the board to see if that was the issue. But like most internet fixes my problem does not seem to be the same, although the symptoms seem to be. The easiest solution maybe to replace the entire cluster, but can anyone advise on that? Maybe it is wiring or another module or some such thing I have no idea on. FYI the speedo and rev are still working and the computer was able to tell me how many km fuel I had left. But now the obc displays the PPPP error which is for 'no communication with instrument cluster' I believe. Cheers, Adam

Welcome Ben. e28's are great to drive and simple to work on. If you are looking for parts I would suggest looking on the US sites as prices can be very good. Only the exchange rate is not always on our side. Hope you enjoy it. Adam

E28 525E - Where Does This Go? + Some Other Advice Needed
tcbaurpower replied to M M's topic in Maintenance
Have a look under the intake manifold as there can be a few pipes down there. Might be hard to see them from above. -
Ok... I guess you just wanted the v12 ? I could use some pieces to tidy mine up. Passenger front guard black trim and passenger door trim. Hit some plumbing on the side of the house. Interior sunroof control cover. Rear passenger side door light cover, clear plastic. Drivers door hold open thingy..stops door shutting on ya leg. What year is it, did it come with the alarm remote locking? Engine compartment - heater control valves and additional water pump. Probably some other bits if I check her over.

How much for the manual sifter, linkage and boot?

Topic Update. Since no one had shocks for an e32 in stock anywhere in New Zealand I went and ordered them from the US. Two Bilstein shocks for under $400.00 NZD including postage. Cheers for the advice, Adam.

Bump. I know, I know it's a crazy time if year but maybe you need to clean out the garage to make way for your Christmas present and can look for that forgotten part?

Boge is the only OEM brand and not many places sell them in NZ? With some google searching to go by I thought Bilstein non sport would be the same but are more available in NZ. Koni adjustable's would be wasted on a daily? I have emailed BMW to see what they can supply as OEM.
-
Would like a smooth cruiser again, its never going to be sporty so do not need to go OTT. OEM specs minimum but have emailed a couple places to enquire about Bilstein. Heavy Duty are supposedly a 20% improvement over standard.

Hey all, So the e32 needs new front shocks. Picked up at the warrant but not really surprised. Anyhow the guy suggested getting some second hand but I am thinking, with the roads we have, that would be a waste of time as another year or so and that set of 20+ year old shocks will go the same way. Better off buying new...right? Having never replaced shocks before I am not sure how to much hassle this is going to be. Do you go to BMW direct, shockshop (have used them for springs before) or buy from the USA? Prices: ball park $250 each side. Is that a fair amount to expect? Advice, experience etc welcome. Maybe useful for other Christchurch owners to. Merry Christmas, Adam e32 735i 10/1987 Europe REALOEM shock insert 31321132540

Got to agree with mat. This would be simple to make. I found an old e30 engine harness check plug holder that looked like a good base. Even has the bolt hole already.
-
Great, I may be able to have a mate bring it back over on the ferry.

Hi Brent. The real oem pic shows it with a crooked pipe. However on the car the pipe work has the crook. So look similar to the second pic.

Checked the garage but no luck. Can you swap the entire sifter mount to the FL type? Might be more available?
-
I can have a look tomorrow. I have the exact same shifter mount from an 84.

Here is the part diagram to help you, numbers 5 and 6 are what you need. Found in e30's up to 9/1985.

Anyone have a compressor left over from a parts car or race car build? Have been doing some research and the the follow cars had the compressor. Not sure if European, Japanese or American production. 64 52 8 363 550 E28: Details on E28 E28 528e Sedan E28 524td Sedan E28 533i Sedan E28 535i Sedan E28 M5 Sedan E30: Details on E30 E30 318i Sedan E30 318i Coupe E30 325e Sedan E30 325e Coupe E30 325i Convertible E30 325i Sedan E30 325i Coupe E30 325ix Sedan E30 325ix Coupe E30 M3 Coupe E34: Details on E34 E34 M5 3.6 Sedan There was another compressor that is listed on Realoem etc. 64 52 8 385 712 But this has a never ending list of old part numbers or reconditioned part numbers. Confusing.
