  1. Hi, I've approached several charitable organizations to see if they'd like free advertising space on my race car. Auckland City Mission has accepted, and now I need someone who would like to help out in designing and installing signage on my race car to provide exposure for Auckland City Mission. So if you know anyone that might be able to help, please PM me or something. Thanks P.S. I don't want your props or your opinion, etc, just need help in helping these good Samaritans out. Also, if you're in Auckland donate to Auckland City Mission, they "do work"

Excuse my ignorance, but what is live view? I'm guessing that means the little LCD window becomes your view finder?

  5. How are cars assets? They require spending with no return? Especially with a BMW - they have high running, maintenance, insurance, depreciation. Perhaps my non-financial background prevents me from seeing them as assets? What am I missing?
  6. I have realised, as much as I enjoy doing skids, I'm definitely not at all comfortable with my car when it is sideways. I know I would like to have greater confidence to be able to stop my car going sideways/backwards into things. I assume this will be improve with seat time. But where do I acquire seat time? Hitting gravel mid-corner on a hillclimb isn't the best way of learning, neither is having a close call with the Taupo pitwall. My pants were too brown in both instances to learn very much. I can not afford to get any traffic offenses because I have too sweet a deal with my insurance, neither can I risk losing my car due to sustained loss of traction. And of course I'm a law-abiding citizen that doesn't break traffic rules, blah blah. So, I have contemplated the following: Autocross - Most tarmac autocrosses are very slow in the Auckland region, I guess I could learn to power-oversteer better. Grasskhana - my car may be too low and most courses are too slow/tight to learn on-limit throttle control. Drift trackdays - Would be great, but I'd end up holding up/bothering a bunch of drivers with 1000000hp turbos. And my experiences with "dirf boyz" haven't been the most savoury experiences (no offense to any). So, are there any other options out there? Any giant private skid pad/airports available to learn on? Or should I just harden up and do what I can?
  7. Sorry, was probably teasing Mal about facing the wrong way then
  8. Probably the best advice yet. Hate to be a d*ck, but perhaps "bitches scratching up your cars" is not so high a priority when finishing school might be a better/easier/cheaper way to get into University? Listen to Glenn. Take time out to sit down by yourself, check out the options for your future. I know I wish I did that earlier.
  9. I have some photos from the weekend I've finally got round to taking off the camera. They're not flash photos and haven't been edited at all. They're a bit average. My excuse is I used to do film, black and white still lifes, so digital colour motorsport is a big leap for me. And the zoom lense I was using didn't have a UV filter so everything's washed out Anyways, enough talking, here they are. EDIT: Balls, photobucket's made the resolution quite crap. Anyone know where I can upload without this happening? I'm rubbish at handling digital images.
  10. I opted for ditching the student allowance and working many part-time jobs. If you want the dosh, make money work for you, work for the money. Or do both. If you do not want to do either, move back home (if that's an option), stop drinking, and start budgeting. That said, there is definitely a limit to a student's income, especially because good grades requires time. I live at home (don't pay board/rent ), stopped drinking, and budgeted. On top of this I worked three reasonably paying (albeit stressful) jobs last year. All because I wanted a race car. I'm guessing you don't want a race car. So if you did what I did, you should be able to afford dinner out at least 4-5 times a week on top of rent, substantial amounts of clothing, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is that - if you want to have high expenditure, you will have to refuse the student allowance and work for it.

    E30 oil filters

I have mistakenly placed an order for 4 oil filters instead of one and I can't return them. I paid something like $70-80 all up. Would just like to get some of my money back, so $30 for two. But I guess if that's too much I'd rather keep 'em.

  16. Lol, I'd be surprised if any M20B25's make any more than 160hp on an engine dyno, let alone 171hp (factory figure). Besides, I'm willing to wager the torque figure would be substantial. MAP conversion, ECU, headers, exhaust would be thousands and there wouldn't be as much torque? Ad is unclear whether the power figure is at the wheels or theoretical crank figure? I don't think there are any cheap ways to gain power on an M20.
  17. Cheers, have been meaning to call him. Hopefully I can get it sorted.

    JiB's POS

Cheers mate. Can't justify spending money on a fibre bonnet atm - even if I wanted to take more weight out of the nose. Anyways, mini update time. Change of plans: Originally my goal was (had sourced the vw lip and everything): http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=120667 Then I decided I liked this more: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=103332 And so, I have a delphin tech1 kit I'm attempting to fit: The blingy wheels I bought: And about to get some delphin in a can so I can colour code the chrome and the black plastic To be honest one of the main reasons I went for tech1 instead of the totally awesome FL look is because I wanted to keep factory towhooks, and PFL rear ends suck without a kit. Also, I'm a cheap bastard - my planned pick-a-part/trademe bits kit would've cost me about the same to modify, fit and paint as the delphin tech1 I acquired. I should really concentrate less on pretty things and more on getting my car legal again
  19. Lol, is it sad I noticed the R34 wheels too?
  20. Not selling, but you have Pm
