  1. We use Potenza RE001's on our E46. But can only compare them to Pirelli's as haven't tried others. The RE001's are a lot quieter and there's heaps more confidence in both wet and dry. Can definitely recommend them, unfortunately I don't know what they retail for, so I'm not sure if they're value for money. They were better in all areas than Toyo T1R's and Goodyear F1's on my old car if that's any help

    TSW Rims for E30

Take your time I'm in no hurry. I think they might be a bit big for my application, but if they're the right spec's I might be keen.
  3. Holey moley those are tidy welds! And the cage in the rally car rullllleeddd. Must've been horrible to paint though!
  4. I wouldn't count on using it to get a around in...on top of not being very comfortable and entry/egress problems, you wouldn't really want to leave it in a dodgey car park.. That said, if you weren't fussed with power, you could probably have a really cheap and fun E30 with bushes, good rubber and series king/koni suspension Or you could buy my race car so I can buy a house
  5. From experience: To put a techII on a PFL, you need to saw the tow hooks off, then the FL valence bolts on (surprisingly), then install front as per normal. But the rear's completely different and you'll have to butcher the techII kit to make it fit because it sticks out from the arch. I didn't have sideskirts, so can't comment there. I gave up when I found a techI kit. edit: E30's can't have their AC refilled? Why?

Got specs on the bolt on spacers? What size inner, outer, hub lip, and total diameter? Cheers.

    skid pad?

I meant any pics of the cage, I haven't seen a 12pt cage before, usually 4, 6, or 8...otherwise spaceframe fronts, etc. Was just curious. Click here You want the A001 form. IIRC. And have a poke around that website as it gives you all the official info and regs that you need You'll need to talk to your local certifer, preferably a MSNZ approved one anyway, they should be more thanhappy to point you in the right direction. I can recommend Neil Fraser, he works out of Beachaven and has helped me.
  9. Are there such things as BBS LM copies? Cos I reckon they're the best wheel for E46's Otherwise if you must choose from those three, the Ruff Racing's get my vote.

Wise, my wallet approves. I think the (un-wise) rationale I had with a 318is is that every car that I have has excessive budget creep and was wondering if it would actually stop me ending up with another undrivable garage queen. I think the best solution is actually not to buy a 318is, but to find some self-control.

Neither are colours I like The red one ticks all the boxes, but I really don't want red! One problem is, for that money there are other cars that seem like much better value for money. 8g is turbo S13/S14, DC2R, or 16v 190e at the high end! Or dare I say - well sorted 325i money! I really like the idea of a 318is, which is more economical than the above in terms of insurance, maintenance, etc. So it's an unfair comparison, not to mention they're all thief magnets. In the same vein, I'm not sure I'd be confident leaving a 318is parked in seedy places whilst I'd have no qualms leaving a 318i to the dogs. I'm sorry Mike...I really just couldn't live with an M10. At least I think I do..I'm having second thoughts because I'm not sure what a 318is could do over a standard 318i that my current E30 can't. I'm struggling to justify the extra $$$ when I'd rather spend that $$$ for seat time in my race car..

LOL. I didn't even notice the dudes in there till now. Me too. But it depends if I can find a 318is with a pricetag that I'm happy paying, especially seeing that a 318is would tick many of the boxes in my wishlist and thus give me a greater chance of not modifying it. But there's something intrinsically wrong in my head with paying more for a 1.8 E30 than a 2.5 E30 with modification money to spare..

Lulz, I think Simon summed it up best. Mmmm, I should stop looking at M42Club.com: http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3554

    skid pad?

12pt cage? Got pics? Just interested to see where it ties. Try get a Clubsport licence and go have fun on hillclimbs, sprints, etc. There are tarmac autocrosses if you want a bit of a skid Edit: If it's going to be a road car then you'll need a licence for Auth Card anyway so you might as well use it!

    M10B20's maybe. I think I'd get depressed with a B18
  16. It appears I will need to commute to places at odd hours, that don't have a frequent bus. So I'm after a daily. I've decided I want another E30 as it's the cheapest RWD out there and I have a vague idea on how to fix things..I am kicking myself for turning down two tidy examples at ~$2,000 earlier this year. So that's my budget for a plain facelift 318i coupe in good nick. However, I will consider paying for a 318is. What I want: 1) IT HAS TO BE MANUAL 2) IT HAS TO HAVE GOOD WORKING AIRCON 3) Full decent condition interior, none of this stripped out, lightweight y0 rubbish. 4) I'd like something completely bone stock (this is also an experiment to see if I can own a car without modifying it). 5) As for engines, I'm keen on 1.8L's - I will be spending silly amounts of time in traffic, don't need power - I need frugality! That said, I won't turn down another 2.5L. But I'm NOT interested in 320i's (unless it's a ridiculously good deal). 6) I am however, quite committed to getting a facelift because I think PFL's are ugly and I'll end up ricing it. It'd have to be dirt cheap for me to get another PFL. M10 = DO NOT WANT 7) I am in no hurry to find one. At all. In fact, the longer it takes for me to find one the better. Cars are expensive and I seem to be able to find my way to places regardless. I'm stubborn and I really don't want to pay for another car. But I will eventually have to get a daily before September. I hope I've made everything as difficult and as complicated as possible. Thanks for reading my spiel. P.S. If you're gonna post trademe links here, please include a coupla details, I can't access Trademe. P.P.S. Here is my ideal daily (which it will probably become over the next 3 years or so): -Facelift -Coupe -Aircon -Ellipsoids -Shadowlined -MtechII steering wheel -No sunroof -OBC -Crackless dash -Tech1 rear wing -Some sort of lip -Basketweaves -Cloth Recaros -Rear seats with headrests -Lachsilber -Colour Coded -E30 series suspension with associated bushes -Small case LSD -M42 () It's a far fetched ($$$) list. But I like dreaming.
  17. Fixed. Are your pads/discs OEM BMW? Or nah? Might help to go OEM, good stopping power. Also you'll learn that there isn't really such a thing as brake feel in an E30...'cos of that ridiculous bar that goes across the dash and the BML on the wrong side. But you will probably realise that the brakes aren't as bad as they feel. You just have to mash the pedal, I was quite happily locking wheels at ~100kph (?) on semi's.
  18. I think he is appealing to the tradition that breathing mods in general make engines run leaner? More air than the engine is tuned/developed for. Holds true for a lot of jap cars when they switch to closed loop under WOT when they haven't been tuned. But perhaps i'm talkin out me arse?
  19. At the moment, I do 5km a week, if that. I miss driving
  20. Damn, it. Why did I sell those to you? Hurry up and put them on the car Wheels are staggered, 16x7, 16x8 Genuine 3pc, lighter than my RS's too! Will end up with 13p offset after hub adaptors.
  21. OMG Young! New car looks brilliant. I see you are keeping to the high powered NA RWD's Lol, small world, I borrowed some bits off the guy who bought your car (am using AP1 brakes in my track hack, it's also gunmetal and has SE37K's now I come to think about it...talk about coincidence). P.S. Take me for a thrash in the M3 'cos you never got round to giving me a ride in the S2k. P.P.S. This would be very embarrassing if you are not in fact Young.
  22. OEM pads for street use and oem rotors, braided lines, rebuilt calipers and new master cylinder.
  23. Best way to do it is make the car look really plain and have a decent alarm, kill switches etc - imho....but then again that might not appeal to you.
  24. They can't force you to change your plates, so all fonts that NZ has released can be read (in theory). The reading is an excuse for Plates NZ to reinforce their monopoly. I'd love for my information to be wrong, because I want a Euro plate. But I don't want to pay $299 for something I already own.
