  1. Bahahahaha, it's all about the respect y0 (ala Fast and Furious )! Don't you know? These dish rims are all about the rice, not as much "Restekpt" as chromies au! But seriously though, these probably serve no performance purpose over 15x7. And can probably be considered "rice" . But darn it, I love 'em. I will probably be bored of these in 6 months, feel free to try persuade me to sell them then Haha, the groupbuy's orders have been been going good! Quite a few orders now. Except, NOONE from BimmerSport wants any apart from CamB and myself. Oh well, dish will probably way too played out by the Honda boys by the time these are on my car

    BBS RS?

I thought they're the old model BBS RZ?
  3. Budget = as little as I possibly can. I'm just going to find a second hand HU and use the speakers in factory location. I was just worried the speakers wouldn't hold up to high volume abuse for long/and or I won't be able to hear them with earplugs in. I should clarify that the road noise does not bother me as I will be using earplugs. It is a race car, the less things in the better/less things to go wrong. There are also better ways to spend money on a racecar than sound gear and insulation. The lack of sound insulation is probably more important for me as a means of hearing more accurately what's going on than a weight issue. I can't fit anything larger than 5.25" in front without modification, and I sure as heck ain't getting a sub for a race car, so why not supplement what I have with some rears on the back bench? Individual 6x9 boxes are small, easy to take out and all that I'd be able to fit in the car. especially when lugging a whole of gear around.*Yes I know majority of 6x9's are designed to work off free air but this is no SPL car. Admittedly in a road car a nice front stage is all you really need. But even then it is not as full as a system with rear support in my limited experience. But as a matter of cost/effectiveness I definitely agree that rears is a case of diminishing returns.
  4. I'm all in favour for this! Would love to learn more about the bits that hold us to the road For the mean time I've found two very helpful sites when choosing tyres and rims. Tyre Calculator Offset Calculator (sorry if they're reposts, just thought I'd share)
  5. It would probably handle very "safe" with the better rubber on the rear, which is usually what is recommended for road use anyway. There won't be a huge difference, but you might be able to get better exits when driving spiritedly. If I were you, I'd put the 205/55/15 on the rear, and shift them to the front when the fronts wear and get some new 205's for the rear. Then you can probably end up with even wear 205's all round eventually
  6. The stock tyre has a circumference of 1913.5mm. That is 195/65/14. The closest popular size in 15" will be 205/55/15 which should improve things. Putting 195/55/15's on the rear will make your speedo over read by a bit. But the difference is negligible (3.2kph difference). Tyre Size Calculator
  7. Haha, I think they look pretty good. You seem to be advertising them a lot more vigorously than I am. You sure you're not interested in a set? Hmm, 225/50/16 is HUGE for an e30! Your speedo would be out by a bit, not to mention trying to fit them under the arches. I'd be surprised if it didn't rub on EVERYTHING ......Although....I do have some Potenza 225/50/16s in the shed Might give it a try on the E30 before giving them to mum

Wow, those guards on that orange E30 are choice as Nice and subtle
  9. Just to update, we are in the long process of finalising orders now. I am also a little disappointed at the lack of reponse. May have 15x7 et15 as well, finding out by tonight.
  10. I see you're all the way in chch though. I was just going to see how the factory speaker locations worked first, but PM me what you want for them inc shipping. Cheers.
  11. 1) My car is too slow and boat-like to be a real race car. 2) I'm too much of a wuss to harden up So, on to speakers, I really like bravo's idea. So I had a look at a couple of 6x9 boxes on Trademe, but I've got fixed back race seats and the harnesses take pretty much all the room in the back. So I don't think that would fit as the small ones may interfere with the harnesses and I'm not keen on that....at all. Access to the rear seat is extremely difficult because of aforementioned seats and harnesses, so looks like I'll have to stick with factory locations. A friend has some cheap Kappa 5.25" components that will be coming up for sale at the end of next month, so that's another option. But I think I may be over doing it with those...it is a (wannabe) race car after all! headunit + amp + crossovers + components = too much weight and money. Not to mention it'd be a waste in a car that's so noisey. Best option, is to get some speakers to fill factory locations and see how that goes methinks. Perhaps two individual 6x9 boxes if I'm really keen. The back seat's bottom-cushion-hooks are just waiting to be used as anchorages
  12. I really like this one....maybe I'm boring? Best E36 sedan I've seen is probably CamB's 100% standard looking M3 Evo.

    Wide wheels

I've looking at these Rivet Flares.
  14. I'm after some speakers that would fit in the front factory locations in an E30 coupe. ...Unfortunately, the car has no carpet, interior or much sound deadening left, and there's clanking, creaking, and HUGE amounts of road noise. Yes these are to go in the race car to keep me sane on the way down to Taupo/Manfeild. Have tried using some headphones and an iPod, but I find the headphones extremely disconcerting. Also I may have a passenger that would probably like to keep sane as well. Are there any recommendations? I need em loud and cheap. I'm hoping to hear them through some ear plugs as I figure ear plugs (sound deadening) + some music = tricks me into thinking I'm in a comfortable car. I don't want components because they are expensive, and I don't want to have to use speaker pods...impossible? Maybe ....Or should I just take a harden up pill?
  15. Ernst has done/is doing mine. Very good service. But beware, he is EXTREMELY busy...almost all the time. So be prepared for it to take a while.
  16. Cheers mate. Well, hopefully we get enough numbers, need 4 people minimum...just myself so far . For the record, I am not making any money off this at all, I just thought some might like the oppurtunity to get some wheels that actually fit E30's. Last chance: Thursday 8th May
  17. Oops, sorry wasn't paying attention. To be honest the S50i is probably better value for money over the S90i unless you need a camera on the back of your GPS unit... ...That said, I think the S90i does text-to-speech and the S50i doesn't?
  18. I've heard good things about Garmin and Navman. Check out some auto parts stores like Super Cheap and Repco. The Navman S30i should be in your price range? That's a good solid unit.
  19. Prices Any color except gold is $575nz plus shipping. Shipping is up to $110nz per set depending on freight forwarder location At the moment, can only get: 501 style in 16x8 et15 -gunmetal -black OR 513 style in 16x7 et15. -Red -silver
  20. Obviously some lawyers are just in it for the money but believe it or not the Judicial system is also a form of protection from Executive and Legislative power. Especially important in Unicameral systems like New Zealand and England where laws can be passed very, very quickly without public knowledge or consultation. And yes, lawyers are an important part of law. Law helps us keep contracts, law keeps us from a radical state nature. Law helps society exist. So in my opinion, Lawyers have an impact on society's safety. As for New Zealand's over-worked medical staff? The current political climate under the Clarke administration has been tending toward a socialist state that just happens to root the middle class of New Zealand. Penry's case is a good example This policy abuse has enabled the District Health Boards to pretend that "brain-drain" is peculiar to New Zealand and that poor pay and poor conditions are just part and parcel. It is not. Countries like Australia and UK also have said brain-drain problems. For example, if all the qualified doctors in New Zealand go to Australia, there would still be a deficit in doctors over there! There is no time to pretend, there needs to be some serious fixing goin' on! Unfortunately, Ministerial accountability is not what it once was and David Cunliffe will probably refuse to see such a problem as long as he is surrounded by minders willing to take the bullet for him. Money does indeed talk, and healthcare is not an area where a tired mistake will not harm any one. Unfortunately, the current Cabinet's priorities seem to be skewed. For example, to form a government Labour's sacrifices have resulted in poor decisions. For example, our Foreign Minister is not even part of Cabinet FFS Re: Immigrants As for immigrants, the majority of which I have had experience with are hard working and do integrate as best they can. But perhaps you mean the refugees that NZ takes on? The unqualified ones that no one wants to employ? Living in state homes? I have some first experience with the Burundi refugee population of Northcote, despite being put through humanitarian DISASTERS that no one should ever be put through, they take night courses to try better themselves and work for minimum wage doing the most demeaning jobs. Why? Because no one wants to take them on because people seem to think that ethnicity matters. When no one wants to employ you despite upskilling at every chance you get, some of these people lose hope. They lose hope in the land of the free, the first world that they had hoped for in the first place. Guess what? Ethnicity doesn't matter, what you do does. My 2c Apologies for such a rant.
  21. This may sound nerdy, but budgeting helps heaps for me? ...Mind you I have revised my budget to a more brutal one to try pay for the race car
  22. So far I'm still waiting for prices on the 16x8 et15's. Have a couple of people interested in the 15x8, but only in et0. Will update as appropriate.
  23. I'd say put aside a bit of money to replace all the old bits and spruce things up, 'cos the car's more than 20 years old. I would recommend either a 318 or a 325...I just reckon the 320 is too lethargic to justify fuel costs and usually not as well spec'd. My 2c
  24. Yeah, I'm doing it once, and doing it right...Will be getting the trackday Ground Control kit from the US.....once the guy answers my emails
