  1. Guides have been done recently. Owner just chucked 10k at resolving common issues.
  2. Two kids and another one in the way scratches the M3 unfortunatley. The 4.6is will spend most of its time on the open road. Price asking is 16k but will not be offering this, nor anywhere near it lol. Absolutely with you about the diesels hence my bimmersport name but just not prepared to spend the extra 10k plus to get a good one when it will sit in the garage 90% of my vehicle usage.
  3. Not to be picky Ron but I do know my X5's. The pre facelift E53's are 135kw and 410nm torque curves are different, but also, another reason the facelift ones went better than the older 3.0d was because of the 6 speed gearbox. Also, the prefacelift 4.6is came with factory 20" wheels and 315's on the rear as standard and sport suspension settings as standard, self leveling suspension as standard, I'm pretty sure all that was optional across the rest of the range. My old 4.6is would do 10/100km on the open road as mentioned above - and as I said above (current fuel prices) fuel here for premium is under $2 bucks a litre. I also had two E53 facelift 3.0d and both were remapped, I'm well aware of their performance. But what you're suggesting is that a remapped facelift 3.0d will be quicker than a 4.6is??? A factory facelift 3.0d 0-100 claimed is 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 210kph. Factory 4.6is is 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 240kph, even remapping it adding another 100 or so newton meters isn't going to close that gap by more than two seconds. As I said, I'm just looking for a weekend toy. I'm not spending 25k on a 3.0d facelifted one - the 135kw one is not an option. The aero kit/sound/wheels on the X5 above is perfect for a weekend toy. There isn't a lot around for the money that would touch the looks and sound and performance of this X5.
  4. Thanks Dean, I'll get him to try that. EDIT: He's going to try this, possibility it is an issue with the oil cap as he's just advised me that it has a crack in it.
  5. As you know, I've had 4x BMW X5's before (1x 4.6is 1x 4.4 2x 3.0d both facelifts) and out of the box nothing corners as well as the the 4.6is He's spent 10k on all the common issues on the car already. I've not owned the first generation 2926cc 3.0d but I've heard they are nowhere near as good as the facelift 3.0d so I wouldn't consider a first generation 3.0d - must have been a pile for 10k at any rate? I'd guestimate about $20 per hundred kms open road (current fuel prices) so I dont think the 4.6is would use quite that much on the same trip. At any rate, the 4.6is is coined to be a weekend car, definetley not a daily.
  6. Definetley that you rekon, spoke to again after I posted this lastnight and he said it was the lifters. He said it does it when you start it and when you give it gas at low rev's Yeah looks in fairly good nick. I've had a 4.6is in the past and apart from the collosal fuel consumption, they go hard and corner amazingly.
  7. I've found this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-829794321.htm However, she's a pretty noisy engine, view here : Is it worth it and what possible issues are causing this and or cost to repair? He advises that it's only doing it on startup when cold and sometimes when under load. Lastly, is this young jack's old car, a member here?
  8. Not when he's added about 100k to the price!
  9. Coming to a screen near you in >>>CAPS LOCK VISION<<< IMO it's harder to read that listing. He might have gotten an early caps lock button for Christmas.
  10. Nice. What engine? Supplier of mine has a fairly highly optioned 40d in White with Motorsport package like the pictured one.
  11. No it didn't sorry, but the manual store button should be on the i-Drive somewhere?
  12. This is how I done my E90 from Jochen - most probably the same? "Factory fitted BMW radios from around 2000 onwards have a 'world tuner' inside them. The same radio can be used anywhere in the world. The radio can be programmed to operate in JAPAN mode (FM = 70-90), or in OCEANIA or EUROPE mode (FM=87.5-108). They also do a USA and CANADA mode but that's not useful here in NZ. BMWs imported from Japan have their radios set to JAPAN mode (wonder why?) These can be readily re-programmed to NZ frequencies as follows: 1. Switch on radio 2. Within 10 seconds, press and hold down the 'm' button until the serial number appears (takes around 10secs) to enter the radio's service menu. 3. Use the + or - buttons to cycle through the menu settings until you see AREA JAPAN or just JAPAN (varies a bit depending on radio) 4. Use the 1...6 buttons to select either OCEANIA (or OCE) or EUROPE - both are valid settings for New Zealand - see below for differences. 5. Switch radio off to store the change Voila! Your radio has now bee reprogrammed to receive NZ FM frequencies! Also, the cool RDS features will now be available. Differences between OCEANIA and EUROPE modes on an E46 Business RDS radio (other radios may vary slightly): a) EUROPE has LW, MW and FM. OCEANIA has AM and FM only. OCEANIA shows ST for a FM stereo station; EUROPE doesn't show anything for stereo or mono FM stations. c) EUROPE has the softkeys set to RDS and TP; OCEANIA has RDS and PTY Which ever one you choose - OCEANIA or EUROPE - is up to you, they both work. I hope you find this info useful, and that the forum moderator makes this a 'sticky' PS: If anyone wants any info or help with BMW radios - talk to me. I've helped around 80 BMW owners convert from Japan radios to proper NZ radios for their BMWs, thus keeping the vehicle in original condition, and obtaining proper radio reception. Send me an email for more info! Cheers, Jochen"
  13. That poor kid. Joker has to be on something heh?
  14. They're shocking, so light I can lift one of the rear corners up on my own.
  15. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U189SwhPXKI Some very tasteful units in there..
  16. Bloody oath. Quality aside the safety ratings on these piles of sh*t are the worst, literally.
  17. Ditch those crapanese number plate surrounds! Looks good in white. Interior shots?
  18. Is the ML500 still getting those figures? How far is the $200 stretching?
  19. I can only imagine how pissed BMW must have been when they found out about that CEO. Nein! Nein! Nein! Das ist verboten!
  20. Hard to say really, but at a guess it's probably just an example of Chinese build quality. It's probably like Hyundai and Kia were back in the 80's. Now I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kia or Hyundai as I prefer them over any Toyota or Japanese car personally.
  21. Or is it just me or do they look like a Prado on the front as well? http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/23/autobild-blows-up-fake-bmw-x5-china/
  22. Looks even better in the rain lol
  23. Yup, it's being entered in the next FWD drift champs, only I have to do them in reverse.
  24. Oh definetley the ML is a good looking beast. Question though, does the X5 diesel go better than the 350?
  25. it does silly. The rear windows are pictures as behind those windows is the fury of a N57S tripple turbo.
