  1. Ok so almost 100% done. I ended up doing it myself and whilst I made a hash of it in places it has improved, quoted $2500 for a cash job to do it, I done the whole lot myself for under a grand including buying a compressor and spray gear. It's still one ugly looking bitch but even the wife said it looks a little more respectable. Wheel alignment and new chrome wheel nuts on yesterday and decals put on a few days back.
  2. Makes no sense to someone from down our way. For less than that you can have this, not the best looking place but a bit of land and a house... http://www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential-property-for-sale/auction-782107475.htm
  3. Well I've owned both the E53 and an 06 ML 320Cdi and overall the X5 was a better car in my opinion of course. I had a right mongrel of a time selling the ML.
  4. On the 320d? That gives me some hope. Mine is at about 241kms.
  5. I've been reading some forums and found some cars over in the states with 700k plus kms What are some records that you guys have seen in Nu Zulland..

Plus I think you'll find a that there's only a limited amount of vendors about for LPG and I think CNG is gone burgers.

    LPG & SUVs

Just to create a bit of a comparison, I have a 320d remapped similar to yours and a few years back I had a S Commodore V8 ute. Hands down the 320d towed better, even though it had 4 less cyclinders, and 3.0 liters less engine capacity. All the power on a n/a petrol is at the top end.

    Scanner tools

Anyone here in the know about scanner tools? Seen the Snap on ones which cost the earth. Would ideally like something I can USB to a tablet/laptop. There's loads on TradeMe, would prefer something that does Euro and Crapanese cars. Cheers.

Maybe I've missed it but has it been said anywhere where how much you are spending? If you're spending 10k then you'd be best with a Prado diesel or Surf diesel. I seriously wouldn't consider a Territory, they're rubbish, we've had one and it was thirstier than the groom on a stags night. If you are going 20-30k I'd go diesel X5. My ones towed brilliantly, and the best tow vehicle is with the most torque, not all the power at the top end like a petrol. The more torque the better IMO.

    BJ Mazda

A nice VH/VK would be nice if you have one lying around for 500 bucks restored. You can't talk you little sh*t. You've got so many cars at the moment no one else on your street can park on the road.
  12. Where's the poor old Amarok? Best utes IMO.

    BJ Mazda

So I bought this 1998 BJ Mazda Familia with a slushbox and 1500cc which has a gearbox fault. Basically, if you start the car, put it in D it goes ok but skips to third missing 2nd, then when you come to a stop and go to start off again it's stuck in third. The previous owner told us that it was a speed sensor (they had a print out of the previous diagnostic) and they had already replaced the car and wanted rid of this one. The car drove fine back from Oamaru to Dunedin yesterday and took the car to Integrity Automatics here in Dunedin and they came up with a different fault (P0730 incorrect gear ratio) Now there's two speed sensors which are about $75 each which I'm thinking of replacing to see if it works. It's either this or replacing the transmission with a 2nd hand one for $500 - the auto specialists quoted around $3000-$3500 to recon the one that was in it - why anyone would go with that is beyond me.. Has anyone had any experience with these Jap crap piles ?
  14. Think they've had this on before. Had it not been for the '87 crash and a bit more development we probably would have seen a few of these
  15. 3rd party on a 7-10k car? (guessing) I've got full insurance on my $100 dollar banger that I bought. I'm guessing it made quite a difference in the price to insurance?
  16. All in all a positive proposition. Current speed limits were designed around the cars of the day. Albeit more cars and people about I think it's time to increase the limits especially on areas with good visibility and fail safes such as median barriers which decrease or diminish the possibility of head on collisions.
  17. I'd be going Al Pachino on them. Not good enough. A few years back I was getting my prized VR ute repainted (dam I miss that car now) mate of mine rings me and asked me when I'd taken up car racing... He seen it driving 5 or so ks away towing a massive double axle trailer with recovery gear, racing car, tyres stacked up in the tray the works. I went postal, I dropped what I was doing and went straight in there to find the 3-3500kg trailer hooked up to my 1500kg tow pack. I was livered. Part of the work getting done to my car was under insurance, I took photos and got them blacklisted from the insurer and told them where to go when they asked for the cash for the excess. Their explanation was that there was no other car around that had a towbar.
  18. I bet you do mint with the ladies having such a beast. Mine was quite a bit cheaper tho.
  19. More to the point.. Where is the M6 Toby?

    Carby gurus

Have tried a few things mentioned here but no go. Planning to remove the carby and pull it to bits over the weekend
  22. http://newsforsharing.com/political/new-road-rules-in-qld-serious-be-careful-out-there/ Some common sense ones there but Christ, not having your hands on the wheel at a set of lights and reversing for longer than necessary and playing loud music? I can understand the music thing if it affects others but why not approach all the car dealers and get them to remove premium sound packages if that's the case.???
