They make sense and will continue to do so until the government puts up RUC and fuel prices which is inevitable. Just hopefully not beyond the point of it becoming more expensive to own than a petrol.

Mines the M57TUD30 but I hear those units are quite different. I drove the current model X5 twin turbo then straight after drove the single turbo version but was seriously unable to tell the difference. It would push a 5 series along bloody well though. EDIT: the 6 speed in mine is good for towing, I lock mine in 6th gear (manual mode) so it doesn't change down at all and just rides on the torque.

Nice Cliff. I'm a big fan of those cars. Build quality is spot on. Out of all the cars I've owned over the years the CLK-55 is one that I've missed the most.

More to the point Cliff, how long have you had the 430 for? Did they make a CLK 430 AMG for NZ Seen plenty of 430's but not AMG version. I had the 55 AMG - great cars the CLK and E series of that era.

Agreed, full stop. Good to hear we've seen the light on a X5. ML's are nice but I don't think they are quite the quality of the X.

Thanks guys. The guy who installed my car kit yesterday suggested this area (top pic) when I told him that the factory DSP sub's go in there. He suggested a blaupunkt amp for 150 on special, about 150 for a 8" subwoofer and other installation carry on but was going to be just over 500 installed. This is for the top pic on the 4.6is but just cut a hole the existing side panel and mount the sub there and put a grille over it for protection. He said there's enough seal and big enough bass cabinet to get a good sound. Sorry mate, I didn't mean that in a malice way. Just when I told my wife I was looking at doing something that was the first thing that came out of her mouth ha! The sound is very clear atm, it just lacks grunt. The guy at the installation place agreed, he also said that replacing my speakers with higher end ones will do no good as they are good quality Bose unis in there at the moment.

If it's economy you're after get a 4.4 X5 for that kinda money. Otherwise the ML 55 is a brilliant unit (same engine as my old CLK-55AMG), performance wise they are quicker than a 4.6is but the X5 seems to handle better, ML also sounds better. I also don't think the build quality is quite the same as the X5 though. They're both great cars the 4.6is and ML-55 but I just can't justify the fuel consumption because the best I could get out of the 4.6is was 17 per 100km

Hmmm, quite conservative looking, not shouting like the E60 - the E60 M5 honestly sounds like a diesel starting up, they only sounded good under heavy load IMO. V8 can only be better.

I wouldn't have handed over any cash until I had the keys in my hand personally unless it was a dealership. That's just plain f**ked up, the guy needs a hurry the f**k up and yesterday. I've got a Seagate aswell, tricky things to network to your PC and has trouble with some codecs, I had to firmware upgrade mine and it now plays all my 1080p stuff easily too. I got a Freeagent 640gb 2.5" for 100 bucks. Slides nicely into it, I wish I had more use for it all tbh cause I haven't used it since I installed it all a month ago. I just bought a new TV which has USB, so now I find myself just plugging in the external HDD to it instead.

The guy was using it up until a year ago and rekon'd it worked fine

Just wanting a bit more bass (grunt) on my factory E53 audio. I've been suggested adding a sub-woofer to the existing system because the current system has nice clear sound, but just no real rumble. What are my options and what prices should I be looking at spending on buying the sub & equipment and installation. Will they just hook into my speakers somehow or? Cheers.

Mint. Thats excellent actually, I was thinking about upgrading to MySky HDI as I just upgraded our TV to a 42" LG LCD 1080p, our old 37" LG is going up on the wall @ the crib. Would it still work with mysky in both places or do they upgrade the dish?

I've bought a crib about 140km north of here and it has a Sky dish already installed. Being a miser where possible I don't want to have to fork out for another sky subscription to get a reception. I'm not keen on FreeView either as the normal reception is hopeless. We plan to go about once/twice a month and over christmas most of the time there so there's no point in paying 50 odd dollars per month for something that isn't going to be used. We have sky digital at home (not HDi) and was wondering if it's at all possible when we goto the crib is actually take the sky decoder up and plug it in and it would work? Any help is appreciated.

I put this in the Kia on the way back home from the crib in the weekend, tbh I didn't notice any difference but wasn't thrashing it or thinking there would be any difference. I've always used BP fuels where ever possible. I have a card for every fuel company bar challenge & gull e.t.c. but if you look at my BP card it's definitely the most worn! So the car is/isn't a genuine Alpina? If it is, this is the car I've been holding off for for years & to see that it's been fkn withdrawn kinda pisses me off. I've been pestering Kento to purchase his and still got the big denied even after offering him 20k - even though that car isn't a genuine Alpina. I've even got TM to send me Aplina auctions every week - somehow this one didnt' come up.

FYI these are my current speakers, had them 5 years. They have been brilliant, I've actually run a wedding with these, NEVER had to have them anywhere near up full volume. Half volume and they have my windows shaking & with a good sound card they sound excellent.

My fail. So they didn't sell them new in NZ RHD? Driven a Mustang LHD from CHCH to Dunedin ages ago, but damn it was horrible. Just can't get used to it.

Due to my own company commitments, I had to walk away from the job. Great team to work for, the cars are excellent but just didn't have time anymore.
