Clinton has to respond to this because the topic is diesel... IMO if I had to choose in RL what to buy you guys all know I'd buy the diesel. Just because I enjoy it's user friendly power delivery especially around town. On a trip the diesel would have to annihilate the petrol in consumption figures? Second reason for me is that the diesel seems to hold it's value more, i..e checkout E46 320i/330i vs E46 320d/330d? The diesels are alot of fun IMO. It's where I am & plan to stay - my next BMW unless it's a M3/M5 will be a dizeasil. I've weighed up the costs of a V8 X5 (which I had) vs a 3.0d X5 and the savings even after the RUC are massive. That & I now have just 10kw less than the V8 but a massive 160nm more! The diesel for my model is quicker, easily, especially off the mark & towing (which is what most people own a 4WD for... towing!) Hey mate. BMW/VW/Audi don't do diesels as far as I know in Japan so 95% of them are NZ New meaning there will be a service history especially on late model stuff. Totally agree with sketchy maintenance histories or lack of from the Japs, some don't know what the term maintenance is! Intervals on my X5 3.0d are about 20,000km and cost about 500-700 for a service. Compare this to a VX Landcruiser that requires 12 litres of oil and costs about $300 per service @ 5000km then it would seem that the 500-700 bucks aint so bad!

If I caught them, I'd tip diesel over them.

I don't think it would be race or old war vet related myself. I rekon it would be just some prick that's been pissed off by someone there or a bunch of kids doing it for laughs. Either way, IMO that fails hard in my books.

Cheers guys. Our Mazda 6 is doing 9.5 at the moment, thats with 80% highway useage which I thought was crap to be honest but it would make a 540i a not so bad alternative should we ofcourse purchase a warranty tighter than watergate.

Hard to come by & low k's Kiwi new, probably rarer than you think too in that spec.

You had to bring the filth out of that comment ROFL.

Ahahahaha! Superb. Excellent, well done. Best auction I've ever seen.

M3's MMMmmmmMMMM Found this really really nice looking black convert. M3'ness

I think the next one will be in a few months Josh. I might be in a 3 series by then, but will be an oil burner ofcourse
-
Thanks for that mate. Can you sorta advise what it's returning on the trip computer?
-
I'm wondering if this could be an alternative to our ever trusty Mazda 6 ? What's the fuel consumption on the open road & urban ?
-
I realise that LOL, M57TUD30 but slightly tweaked more in the 330d

I've never known anyone to have the heated seat on full for an hour, I'm on fire if they're on any longer than 5 minutes. Anyhow, thought I better add what flavours of cars were there... BMW X5 - the only diesel LOL White 120i convertible Wine Red 120i manual convertible E39 540i E39 528i touring E36 318is E36 318ti E36 328i E36 325i convertible Alfa Romeo GTV

Yeah when you do hear them it's not really an agricultural noise at all. The turbo spool and under load up hills sounds especially good on the X5.
-
I knew I'd find you Chris ha! I can confirm that this car has to be the best E36 I've seen for a long time.
-
Is why I made sure they ordered a genuine BMW one

I also priced up a new 320d and they discounted the 320d for me down to 60k for the base model (which I thought was quite good considering they are 65k) and the price they offered me was the same as the 330d mate if that helps. 330d is here Visit My Website

Never done this kind of thing before but I actually quite enjoyed it. Trip was to Oamaru about 120km north of Dunners but we took every backroad known to man. One part was particularly good, I was up front just behind the leader in a 120i convert. and lets just say we were doing some shifting but the X5 handled the roads brilliantly and was behind the 120i all the way! Obviously push come to shove the 120i is going to outhandle me if it was in the right hands but Antil33t here will tell you that we weren't far from the limit on some corners! There was a super nice 318is there and man was it in good nick (pictured below) - had a manbox aswell! Nice 328i with manbox and leather, NZ New. Amazing what can come out of the woodwork... The Alfa club was along too, but only one guy showed up (probably because all the other guys broke down LOL)

Yeah seems to be the hard truth I suppose. Last week I asked for a trade price on a 330d and they came back with more than 10k over that price and mine has done 98km IMO that car is a sure bargain at 40 thousand.
-
Visit My Website WTF is with that price? It was 45k and that was just stupid, but 40? On a recent trade in price on a 330d at BMW Dunedin they offered me 10k more as a trade! If anyone was in the market for a Euro SUV diesel then this would have to be on their list of potentials!
-
Hey mate, did you buy that from Mazda here in Dunedin at the time (next to the shell petrol station) We test drove this it would be years ago mind you?
-
IMO you'd be nuts to buy the silver import over the lower mileaged NZ New job.
-
Man that's alot of car for the money. Get a warranty and the who cares huh? Looks the goods, I'd love a toy like that. First thing would be the pipes, wheels look mint, dunno if I'd actually change much else.

Great concept & innovation but I've always had the back of my mind that Hybrids are not the solution long term. Why don't they develop Hydrogen or other alternative powered cars instead of the Hybrid that don't require fossil fuels? Hybrid is fantastic don't get me wrong but if everyone switches to Hybrid, the governments will just put the prices of fuel up to compensate. This could also open up another can of worms IMO.

Legend ^^ never knew about the flicking high beam before exiting, works well. Cheers.
