I've taken it into the local specialist, turns out it's where BMW sent it. He said it can take up to 5 mins for it to blow cold, I think this is rubbish. Our Kia Rio Diesel blows cold in about 30 seconds in the same weather up there, so why is mine not? I would have thought the BMW's system would be a bit more comprehensive?

Thanks heaps for the response Glenn. From my crib to the end of the road is about 5km and it took that long to start working, it did it a few times up there too and took that long to fire up. Very uncomfortable on a gravel road with windows wound up, and it was 30 degrees up there last weekend! I understand it should take a minute or two to fire up, but jump in my inlaws Prado and it's instant from start pretty much. Any ideas?
  3. Please don't let this be the start of a new thing! I mean a bit of camber is good, I just can't see what benefit that much would give a car.
  4. My car had this when I had the 20" wheels fitted a year ago. It was found that they didn't send the rings with the wheels when they should have, was alot of pissing around but we got there.

I noticed a while ago it took 5km to start blowing cold air, it wasn't such a problem until now as it was 30 degrees where I was the other day, before this I took it into BMW to have it looked at and they couldn't find the issue, yet still billed me for more than $100 bucks. Today on the way home I put it on as soon as I started the car because it was a good 25 deg outside, it still took a good 3km to get going! Any ideas or hints as to what it could be? Cause I'll have to take it to a third party to get checked out again.
  6. Yes lol, he's also related to Captain Bling Bling.
  7. It's very disrespectful to diss anyone's car on this forum but in this case I have to jump on the bandwagon, Clinton hates stuff like this. Captain practical has not visited this gentleman's house.
  8. I think she meant the M button on a E60 BMW M5 ?
  9. Fair comment mate but in my particular situation it's very very hard to be competitive when you're competing with someone on the internet selling goods, (in some cases out of their own homes) that you can't afford to compete with by the time you take your overheads into account, overheads such as rent, insurance, wages, professional fees, taxes, GST, e.t.c e.t.c!!! I think the GST thing of items purchased overseas is just a perk for the government. Yes I think it should apply to businesses importing goods for domestic sale, however I believe it shouldn't in non-business related importations. For example, when I moved back from Australia 5 years ago, I had a TV, some furniture, other various household items in a large crate. They wanted the GST content of everything purchased two years ago over there which I thought was a wrought, even when I paid GST over there for the goods, they explained that I could claim the GST back from the ATO but it turned out I couldn't. Maybe people should have a one time per 12 months free waiver for example.
  10. Thanks mate, hold on to that thought.
  11. Father inlaw owns a large testing station and workshop here in Dunedin - cheap repairs / maintenance.
  12. My E60 needed new disks and pads, I purchased them for half the price of the BMW Dealership on Ebay. I can't imagine you getting any change from 3k otherwise. These are all things I'll ask the owner when they were done last.
  13. But I thought they were cheaper to maintain than a Corolla and running costs are minimal?
  14. What should I be paying for an inspection? I remember my Audi S4 was about 200 for the inspection at the dealership. Cheers.
  15. Anyone in Auckland know of a Euro/Porsche dealership (they could recommend) to send a Cayenne Turbo for a pre-purchase inspection... Cheers.
  16. X32LRO On a people mover ROFL - The owner obviously doesn't practice it if he's running a minibus haha!

    Fishing.

Into fishing big time myself but only seems to be fresh water fishing, bought a crib right next to the Waitaki River about three months ago just for it! It's great for whitebait, mullet (at the mouth) sea run trout, salmon (in the season) and brown/rainbow trout and the odd eel if you're that way inclined! Here's my latest acquirement... Caught that up near Kurow. Nice tidy little rainbow.
  18. Definitely not, I'd say the 1 series would have a tow rating of 1200-1500kg?
  19. If it's a 120d mate, I can't see you towing more than 1500kg - normally 50mm ball's are 2500kg + say. I have two interchangeable balls.
  20. I've got a multi-fit on the X5 so within seconds I can change from 1"7'8ths to 50mm, 1"7'8th's is the standard for most trailers/boats e.t.c under 2 ton. If you have the standard donkey cock you can take this in to be machined down to the size you need.

    BMW's are not FWD

Ahahahahaha, brilliant! But I wonder if those E87's come out in AWD ?
  23. Always liked these, infact the quickest diesel SUV I've ever driven was a loan car I had which had the 3.0sd twin turbo diesel engine, fark it could pull!
