Whaddya want washers for? It never rains in Auckland
-
I know there's some awseome e30's about, but I still smile every time I go into my garage......

Ha ha I remember those things. They came out in the70's oil crisis. My father's boss bought one for his wife and they used to drive it around their back yard doing a circuit around the fruit trees. Pretty soon everyone just got used to oil being $11 a barrel and as I recall they sold the Suzuki and brought a Capri. Now you all know how old I am......

...so ...so far it could be the temp sender, AFM, TPS, Oxygen sensor, fuel pressure regulator - or something else. I guess you'll have it sorted in no time then.

I've been thinking of getting PL8SUK -
Hmmm....someone who lists his rides as "my dick" is looking to buy a 2004 730. Ok.
-
I met a guy recently who imported an s14 (BMW motor, not Nissan Silvia!) and has so far spent over 12k in rebuilding it...... Ouch!
-
It's not really a question, just a statement, like, "The wheels on the bus go round and round." The correct response is, "That's nice."
-
Damn, that's criminal! Only it's mother could love it.

If you want a head for a 2.5 you definitely don't want a 2.7 head. The 2.7 heads are the small port ETA 200 heads. If it's a 2.5 block you need the 885 head. If you are building a 2.7 motor you can use a 731 head. I don't think it matters wether it is pre facelift or a facelift. The 2.7 I'm about to put in my convertible is a 2.7 bottom end with a rebuilt pre-facelift 731 head. I've got a couple of spares (one of each) if you can't get one that has been rebuilt already.
-
Damn....does that mean you don't have cheap 2.7 for sale? Good on you, and great to hear it was a simple fix.

Forget speakers in your car, the sound of an M20 on song is the purest from of music..... I can't wait for the new tunnels to open at Puhoi.

Hey, I just read your original description again. I presume you've run it with the cap off and checked for bubbles/gushes? And with an open thermostat (or thermostat removed) and the cap off and you've watched for circulation through the radiator? I'd be starting right there if you haven't.
-
Interesting thread, I guess not so much when it's your car! I'm also suspicious of a cracked block or a failed head gasket. If you're pushing compression through to a water gallery, even very slightly, it can affect circulation in some pretty weird ways. And then it can give a false read on your temp guage, which is only reading the local temperature around the sensor, which of course is irelevant if you don't have circulation. In cases like this you can have the water boiling and steaming in a localised area in the system, which makes it practically impssible to bleed, because the compression keeps pumping air ito the system, even if it is a miniscule amount and not enought to be showing up in major blowout though the radiator. Most decent workshops will have the gear to test for exhaust gas in the radiator, which might be a good place to start to see if you can rule it out or not..... I may be well off the mark, and for your sake I hope so. We always like to hope it's just a plumbing issue or something simple.........

I think you'll find Bilsteins are the schizzle because they can be easily rebuilt. I put a set in my vert and they turned a saggy whale into a rock hard handling machine.

Not new to bimmersport but my first post!

mmmmmmm!!! The 330!!!! Nice! -
Looking good Ray, nice to see you've finally cleared the crap off it and stopped using it as a work bench!
-
The rear is all custom - no kit as such. (And it's not fibreglass!) Does my bum look phat in this?
-
Good spotting! I had my brain disconnected when I fitted a new bootlid (no spoiler holes) and reached into my big box of random parts and came up with mismatched letters and "i" badge. Actually Ray (HellBM) spotted it when he pulled up behind me at the lights in Glenfield shortly afterward and I have since changed it so it now all matches. (Doh!)
-
Yeh the front is a project yet to be tackled. Purists may hate it, but the rear is all custom with Mtech 2 sides and I'm keen to do a similar take to the front - something subtle but understated but that shaves and drops and gets rid of the chrome. I guess watch this space.....

That would be me...we live at Snells.

Hi guys. This is my current project. I bought it i a fairly sad state and have enjoyed building a cruiser I enjoy driving. Next step is the 2.7 and 260 box (all sitting in my garage, rebuilt and almost ready to drop in!) I'm looking forward to 200hp and 5speed......

Hey, looks good. Where did you get that leather spray stuff? I've looked for that kind of stuff but have never been able to find any.
