No, the licence plate stays the same. Exceptions to this are if the previous owner had a personalised plate and they wanted to keep their personalised plate. In that case they would change the personalised plate back to a Government issue plate.

cheers, will give that a go first tonight and post up results

Hi Last night while driving around I heard a slight noise coming from what I believe to the be the front left side of the car. It sounds very similar to a stone stuck in the brakes, but there is no noise when braking. The noise only happens when I go over little bumps in the road, like man-hole covers for example. Before I start pulling my car apart and checking that everything is nice and tight and where it should be, is there anywhere specifically I should be looking? 1996 E36 323i Coupe with motorsport options Cheers

my e36 auto box was fixed under warranty no questions asked just told them the issue (jatco jerk), they said "yea we get this a lot, where do you want to take it to get fixed?" ps. don't be afraid to talk technical with the insurance company, you'd be surprised at how much they know it's better if you get to talk to someone in their claims department, they'd tend to know more about cars from dealing with a lot of different claims and mechanics all day every day whereas if you're talking to someone in a call centre they'll just have basic knowledge

nice tidy looking car I want the wheels !!!
-
thank you, wasn't aware of that, would probably explain why I have AA roadside assistance as part of the warranty by the sounds of this thread and also the recent one about the mechanical warranty on the e46 m3, I think you'd almost be better off just putting the quoted premiums into a savings account

I'm a big fan of Band of Brothers, so really looking forward to Pacific. If you get the chance, I recommend reading Stephen Ambrose's WW2 books

I had a 20kph accident, what looked like minor front left bumper and panel damage ended up costing the insurance company over $5000 in repairs my gf's pulsar (same year as my bmw - '96) had a car run into the back of her at 40kph and in turn rammed her into the car in front of her ... less than $3000 for the insurance company to fix

yea but according to those ads on tv, you should be able to get coverage on XT while in a shipping container in the middle of the ocean or on top of a mountain in the middle of no-where mum used to be on the old Telecom network before switching to XT, and the old network was more reliable than the XT network in her area
-
wow that makes such a huge difference, looks awesome mate
-
ok cheers mate, thank you for the quick reply I think I'll drop it into Page Euro and get them to sort it, good blokes that work there
-
this is just one experience, but mum had nothing but problems with the XT network (she's in Raetihi - just to the left of Ohakune)it quite often dropped phone calls and she often lost connection with the network she went back to Vodafone and it's been mint as

sorry for the hi-jack, same topic but different window issue my window, if I hold down the Up button, or press it so it goes up automatically, it will more often than not go up a few centimetres then go back down a few centimetres from what I've read on the internet, it's a common problem to do with the magnet slipping out of place my question is ... is it an easy enough DYI fix? it looks to be simple enough on the internet, but never tried fixing an electric window before and should I replace the window motor or is it ok to just re-seat the magnet? (ie I don't want to have to do it again in 6 months time)
