    found on trade me

Sorry - but that bmw looks RUDE!
  2. Speaking from experience???You can put remote start in yourself, but it may not be warrantable if you do - not sure. Qualified/certified installers are not allowed to install them or they will lose their license, so most don't. Only applies to manuals which as said above will lurch and may injure someone if tried to start whilst in gear. Nope - Never used one.Knew a guy who had/does. His car has NEVER been tampered with.
  3. In the mean time - pop down to dicky smith and pick up a six dollar flashing alarm diode thingee. It the same little flashing thing as a alarm, but no alarm Sounds stupid - but it IS a deterant when you see it.

    E30 sunroof kits

I'll ask for one next time I see him. He was more or less thinking bout bringing a few in, which will lower the individual costs..... and was after possable 'how-manys'....
  5. I know of a E30 owner who is thinking about bringing in a few E30 sunroof repair kits. Briefly, it will be the winder, rubbers - seals etc. Glass too maybe. If one was available ( E30 owners here ) would you look at picking up one?

    Auto

Arr yes grasshopper - manual box fluid, known as EP90, is the most stinky, thick oil you can get for a car. I despise pulling out a diff or gearbox on a forklift JUST because of the stinky - messy EP90. And it's a thick yellow colour. Atf should always be red, not even a brownish red. not red = bad. I would say thou, your box either needs a service, or it's poked edit: BTW: ATF fluid is commonly used for Power steering fluid. Not sure in beamers, havent looked, but as a rule of thumb ATF suits most P/S designs.
  7. According to the TIS - incorrectly adjusted tappets will cause rough idle.

Indeed I was reffering to the Twin cam motor sitting in a 'beefed up' suspension and brakes. Did not mean to imply it was or should be a six. After all its a 318 1.8 is a SOHC with 115 bhp @ 5500 rpm 1.9 twin cam is 140 bhp @ 6000 rpm

Hi. Defently get the is model as above. It has bigger brakes and beefier suspension. As far as I know, its a six cylinder car ( re suspension etc ),running the twin cam 1900, and a good amount of extra oomph packet into it than a SOHC. Have a look here http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....wtopic=2077&hl= where buying a E30 is discussed. I posted in there a rather LOOOOONG check list for a buying a E30, alot of it bollocks, but some very good tips for what to look out for. The E36 is much newer of course, so the list can be shortened to 10 or so checks. The most important piece to check is find out if the profile gasket has been replaced/updated to the new specs. If its a 1994 onwards, I'm pretty sure it will have the newer gasket. If not, and it WILL leak, be prepared to fork out ~$4000-00 worse case with a warped head. If you are in Ak, get a inspection doee by BMWorkshop. They know their stuff. Good luck!
  10. I believe - could be wrong - bigger brakes and suspension. Different headders, and maybe a better chip. Of course, the different aerodynamic package. Proberly the interrior is flashier also.

    Differential noise

She locked up alright, on a main street in the middle of the road, slid 15-20m leaving some nice big long black marks where she remained until the flat bed picked her up.Needless to say, i've solved my noisey drivetrain problem Damn u r one lucky dude!... good to hear you didn't hit anything or the like!

    My new E30

Give me you chassis number dude, and I'll see what the BMW TIS comes up with. It will at least give me the original colour of your bimmer!
  14. Dam that sucks dude - I wish you well for the repairs. :banghead:
  15. There are several company's round that re-gas these struts, if you wan't their name/s, I'll find one.
  16. If its mainly over bumps, I would say your shock is worn, or shock bushes. Some "shock shops" have a free check...

    My M325i

I've used BMWorkshop for only one service - but thats the only service I'd needed so far. My opinion is they are good mechanics, got the workshop kit, and their charges are not bad. Upon picking up the car, I was introduced to the mechanic who worked on my car, and he gave me a run down on what he did, and a few tips to boot. I've been mechanicing for over 15 years, he didn't know that, and he didn't spin me even a tad of bullshit - Full credit I say.I can't be bothered going over the bridge to Bavarian ??... so will stay with them, but I've also heard they are up there with their workmanship.

    Do M3 wing mirrors

Chers Ali - I'll just look in the TIS on my car for the loom. Mine fold in manually, but if M3 mirrors are 'solid', they won't do me any good for now.Actually, they are elcectric adjustable mirrors ( viewable angle ), so at a stab in the dark, they will have provision for it in the loom. My bro has M3 style mirrors on his Ronda, they look kinda 'chunky', but kool. Next time im over, I'll just lean on them to test them out..hehe
  22. There is a Ex. manifold on trade me, might fit your car. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-16806463.htm

    Do M3 wing mirrors

I just fold in the drivers one - makes all the differance. My question was, do M3 mirrors fold in, either electric or manually doing it. And the 96 beamer is good enuf for me right now.
  25. Want sum for my car, but I need fold in mirrors, cos I need to to get in da garage ( only past roller door ). After a few, maybe too many, I keep scratching the mirrors on the damn roller, so fold them in now So - are M3 mirrors 'fixed' in the normal position, or do they fold in? - Thanks
