  1. So the more you work to better yourself the more you pay.

Yes, However the income amount that they will calculate from is capped at around (i forget the exact figures) $115kpa. So really, one could argue that the motivation is there to better yourself.

Lets not forget I also on top of my $270 a week have to fly my son down to me for the school holidays as i have him for a week every school holidays, they don't take that into account when working everything out.

Indeed. I'm lucky as my kids live in the same town as me, and I'm even luckier as I have a private agreement with the kids mum.

At the end of the day, i think she's just happy to be getting 20odd k out of me a year, as she knows i could easily just rejig things and pay the minimum.

Not that i would do that, but she's not to know that!

  2. I agree with the first part. But i think the thing 'bout targeting these people is it will hit everyone else. A bit to all encompasing, like trying to do precision target shooting with a shotgun.

I get what your saying, but sometimes a shotguns all thats available.

I like the changes as they send a very clear signal to current and (more importantly) - future recipients that the benefit is NOT a lifestyle choice.

Furthermore, those that actually do work will be able to earn more without it affecting their benefit. I'd say thats pretty win, wouldn't you?

  3. Ever been unemployed and needed a benefit Glenn?

Well i have and believe me you get treated as a 2nd class citizen.

It's all well and good people sitting there saying 'Get a job or you get no benefit'. Where are these mythical jobs coming from?

You think the crime stat's are bad now....wait to see how it goes when people genuinely can't find work and get thier benefit stopped.

    1. Their benefit will only be stopped if they fail to LOOK for work.

    2. I was on a sickness benefit for 9 months. I found a job washing dishes, and then as a cook. I did this for two years until i found a real job that paid me real money.

    3. Where i grew up, going on a benefit was most definitely a lifestyle choice. Its these people the changes are targeted at.

  4. Mine is a manual too (never owned an auto ;) ) but it is terrible on gas, especially with the primary turbo spinning at motorway cruising speeds! And it doesnt seem to matter whether i drive it quick or gentle, it still keeps sucking it down...

You dont wanna know how much money i lose a week driving it for work :(

Thats because the legacys have a final drive of 4.44 (well, at least the BD/BG5C do) - 3000rpm at 100k or so. My 540i is cheaper to run on the motorways than my RSB. However, around town the RSB kills the 540 in the economy stakes.

  5. and 1% product. but where do they get the snakes for the snake oil?

"FuelstarTM is a fuel-borne tin-based combustion catalyst." so it's Gasoline additive, think valvemaster but with different packaging. might not be a bad idea for some engines (but probably not yours) as RON could increase, but tipping shellite into your high octane will do the same (ssshh dont tell anyone the secrets...)

PS: don't play with your fuel, motorsport nz schedule A only allows 4%/vol benzene, flames from exhaust are a fire hazard and it's probably illegal on the road

    From the plane.

    btw, whats shellite?

  6. Cheers for the comments guys.

MrDevine - $1250 installed is a very good price. Did the person giving the quote have any experience with these cars? I ask only because in order to replace the rear struts, the parcel shelf has to come out, and thats about half a days work right there.

The Monroes are not a patch on Bilsteins, but still better than the flogged boges that were in it before.

H&Rs as per Creavers comments above.

  7. I believe you'll find Tesla Motors and the Tesla Roadster were invented in the good ol' USA, and have opened a brach in london I believe.

And yes electric motors make max torque from "idle".

If you search you tube (and im not doing the work for you) there is a guy who converted an older car to purely electric, its in the US and WAS one of the only street legal electric drag cars in the US. No gearbox, the accelerator pedal told the computer how far down it was (similar to ALL drive by wire cars these days) and the computer applied the correct voltage to the motor.

Would be a fun project but big dollars required.

On a side note, the car is almost dead silent.

    No Drag car but. http://www.kiwiev.com/

  8. +1

I miss my legacy gtb every day because of this, what i do not miss is that lag between the two turbos lol. How much you selling your rs for ?? im keen

Yep. Dreaded VOD. I have a sequential controller in mine, and a hybrid VF18/31 primary turbo. The seq. controller does a great job of minimising the vod, but ever since i put the new primary on I'm finding that VOD is much worse.

Next step is to single turbo it. I'll never sell this car, its my preciousssss lol. + With the bigger sway bars, bilsteins, and healthy bushes, the twisties are sooo much fun!

  9. And a lip spoiler tongue.gif

    Good luck with the sale

Yes! Though the bootlid will require a tidy up before this is put on. Have just put brand new rubber on the rear too :)

Thats nice, great colour, best mags & whited out indicators & NZ NEW!

Any chance of more pictures? I'm not going to buy it but I think it would do you a world of good to put more pics up, that & I want to be nosey!

    Cheers.

Cheers for the comments :) going to (finally) take more pics this weekend.

Two things, Mini's are not as good as e34's trust me on that, yes you should, my dad has had like 30 odd Mini's in all the guises you like 1275Gt, race ones, slide windows, blah blah.

Second thing, find the thread on here with the 96 black E34 540i that the guy brought circa $4k, sorry someone had to say it.

Haha, I love Mini's. I've had had a enough of them to be well familiar with all of their quirks :P But as stated, I've decided to get a bike+license for now. I want to be riding a Ducati in 12 months.

As for that black E34 on Mpars? Yup. As the guy said, he stole it. I'm well aware of what these are worth, and within the bounds of common sense I am Negotiable. However, it must also be taken into account that I've put in a reasonable amount of time + cash in to this car and will be significantly out of pocket when it goes. I've already been offered $4500 for it, but I'm happy to sit on it to get closer to my asking price. But all said and done, The market will decide what it's worth. :)

  10. I wouldn't touch replicas.

Go for it if you like motorway vibrations and shimmys.

    :)

You can't beat a true OEM or proper branded quality alloy. So much smoother and you known your treating your car well, not putting fake stuff on it.

My Shimmy's dissapeared when i had the buckles taken out of my replicas ;)
