Loving the wagon man, to be perfectly honest though I think you would be better off with the full red tail light look. My 2c.

Colour of E34? I'm after a good cond fjordgrau (#310) bootlid.

Crank angle sensor?
My 540 did exactly this and threw no codes. Investigation with multimeter proved it to be the Crank angle sensor.

Yeah, I'd say its worth 12-11k, Provided (as simon mentioned) that perishable items such as bushes, Intake manifold seals etc, etc are ok. Because if they're not, then its going to be an expensive car.
Mine for example i paid slightly less than $4k for it, but have spent $3k on it since, and to be completely happy with it I still need to spend another $4k or so. And it still has 130,000 more Km's on the clock than this example.

Yeah I know definately not worth it, it will be insurance co policy to auction the wreck.
E34's seem to be quite desirable and holding their money well, been looking for 540's and they are good money on most of them.
Yeah, but a 540 is a V8, and they are still (stupidly imo) worth less than their equivalent Australian brethren.

Sounds awesome Ian.
Looking forward to getting my exhaust sorted.

Joining when I get home. Should this go ahead, I'll def be purchasing a number of tickets!

You won't get machine swirls out by hand alone.
I did on my legacy.

I have always loved the E34. Before I owned one, I always thought the PFL E34 nose was streets ahead of the wide kidney version. But now i own one its grown on me a hell of a lot...

You may become addicted though, alfas have had an odd effect on me. They are beautiful cars, even the door handles feel nice!
I've been in love with them ever since a 'sud burnt me bad about 15 years ago. STILL love that car.

I seriously don't trust myself to do it. I only know one tool and it's a hammer. The guy used an orbital and Mothers but he said he also used a rubbing compound. When I first got it back before Christmas it looked tops, bar the fact the dust was sticking to it far far far more than it was before. Because it's black I wash it 3 times a week & after a week you could notice the swirls. He redone it two weeks ago and once again it looked great, then a week later it returned to the fail that it is atm. I'm using Dura-Seal car wash, it's $48 per 1 litre bottle & I've always used it.
When I had my Range Rover I took it to him aswell. The car came back brilliant to when it first went in, it never wore off and it always gleamed & he claims he's used the same technique as this time round.
Best way to fix that would be Wash, Clay, Mild polish, Wax. All by hand. Should take the better part of a day.

We're celebrating a day early by jumping out of a plane together.

Nice unit - has everything I'd ever want.
Cheers - doubt it'll be at my price point though. Whilst I am making the step up from cheap off-the shelf boxed systems, I'm not really in the market for anything other than the low end of the mid-range stuff.
Fair enough. I did the same about 8 months ago, but now I am finding I'm going to have to replace the Yamaha RX-V363 i bought then when I upgrade my TV.

Audio input for tv broadcasts will come from freeview receiver anyway, and audio from PS3 can come via optical from PS3. I've been advised to buy an AVR that has a few other "important" features and sacrifice HDMI through the AVR if required rather than the other way around.
Yeah, I'm aware that my budget is limited for speakers, but they'll be 1000 times better than what I have now, and I can always upgrade later as finances allow - at least this way I am getting the basics right. I've got a small living room as it is, and my ears are hardly what you'd call finely tuned. More like cauliflowers stuffed with cotton wool.
*nods*
Though be aware that you will not get the true HD audio over optical that HDMI 1.3/1.4 will provide.
I'd go for something like this:
http://www.pioneernz.co.nz/default.asp?Obj...ckCode=VSX819HK
I'bve seen it waaay below that RRP at JbHiFi. Just cant remember exactly how much.

Make sure your amp is capable of processing audio. If it's labelled as HDMI 'Passthrough', then it will strip the audio from the signal and you'll have to use an optical cable etc, losing the benefits of bluray audio over HDMI.
Very annoying.
Though you might need to up your budget a touch if you want decent speakers too.
Edit: This is possibly what Wom was saying.

I might have to talk to the missus.

Rimrite Warren the only person I would use.
Worth repairing rather since they are genuine M3 wheels IMO.
Agreed. Warren is a good bastard too. Have dealt with him twice now (two buckled schnitzers) and the work was absolutely top notch, not to mention exceptional value for money.

So Hot. My favourite bimmer of all time. almost.

I reguarly get 9.2l/100km on my daily 100km commute from paraparaumu/wellington/paraparaumu. This includes a bit of traffic. Have had it as low as 7.5l/100km on flat, traffic free motorway driving.
Treat it nicely, and the 540 is an economical car for a V8.
